My husband and I moved from Very hot Arizona to coastal Maine 23 years ago. I can only tell you we have NEVER regretted moving to Maine!!! We LOVE the winters and when we moved here we knew nothing about Maine. Both of us refer to Maine as paradise. We bought the original fire station in our town which had water damage on the first floor that made it unlivable so we gutted the downstairs and my husband made a makeshift kitchen and we lived upstairs as he completed the work on the downstairs. Never once did we ever question our decision to continue on our adventure. Marc has only returned to AZ twice in 23 years for his parents funerals and I have never been back. Our life in Maine is absolutely incredible as it is such a calm and mostly slow paced lifestyle. It sounds to me that you will love it here just as we do. Stay safe and enjoy the adventure and way of life in Maine 😻😻😻

I grew up in a house built in the 1860s. My parents bought it in the late 1960s. They renovated the house room by room. Most of the walls were the old lathe, plaster and horse hair. They removed a couple of interior walls to make the kitchen bigger. We found old cans (with the original paper labels), old newspaper clippings, jars, bottles, notes, etc. This was common in old houses. Time capsules have been around for hundreds of years .

Happy for you both! We just went thru a full clean out and remodel too. My husband thought 6 months and it took 11 months to finish the inside. We still have to work on the exterior. We are so happy, there were some frustrating moments but we survived. Enjoy and have fun!

My husband and I moved to Alaska from No. California where we lived until he got sick with pancreatic cancer. We were blessed to have 10 years up there before moving to Memphis where he was born and raised and where I still reside. I loved the winters in Alaska. A truly beautiful place to live. So happy you have found your adventure in Maine.

You two are adorable. Yes they do say “the county”. Smart to put the heat pump in. I live in southern Maine and will be getting heat pumps soon. I have heated with both wood and pellets. Consider a pellet stove. Much cleaner and easier. I lived on the coast near Lubec and heated with wood only. We used so many cords of wood. It’s a lot of work. I now have a pellet stove and love it. Can’t wait to see your next video!

My parents bought 2 houses in the last years to rehab. They enjoy fixing houses. Right now, they're renting one of the houses to my sister which is a farm house from the late 1800s. The other is northern Wisconsin on the lake they are still working on. but
They plan on vacationing there and air bnb when they aren't there.

Im a born here and escaped a few times, but as much as i want to move to Vegas my partner is no. I think if i can get him there, he will live it he likes cities. I saw Northern Maine... wonder which county... i may need to go back a video or so. I want to go because the warmer weather and no humidity would be better for my health issues.
