Paul seems like the most genuine, kind-hearted, and passionate guy who loves being goofy and appreciates what he has. My favorite guitar personality by far.
i was practicing for the last two weeks in quarantine like a madman, and i made some decent progress. thought i became fast an accurate, but watching this, Paul just effortlessly thrashing through those notes with unparallelled speed and accuracy just brought me back to reality. this guys skill is from another world, yet he's so humble about it. what a personality, what a legend.
If you seen his other videos, he says he used a metronome and slowly increased the speed. I can totally vouch for that. A metronome gives your brain a goal and your brain figures out how to play it faster and faster to match the metronome.
The child-like joy this guy gets from playing mindless, absolutely face melting shred licks is seriously some of the most inspiring stuff I've ever seen. In particular, 1:40
That last bit, is really what we should keep from that ! (And it could be a blow on Friedman's remarks on the word "shred") Love you Paul. So humble and all around great. The new album was amazing ! Much love from Greece
100% if you can shred but can't bend & vibrato then you're still riding with training wheels. .. all the greats can control the string, but not all the greats can shred
Paul Gilbert. In my opinion, he got it right. Of all the shredders, he got it right. A band + Great songwriting + Shred = The Perfect Combination. I am not going to name names but I am not always in the mood for instrumental masterpieces. When my favorite shredders found themselves in a band situations I believe they were at their best. Vai/Roth, Moore/UFO, etc. Songs. Great songs!! Collaboration. I have to be in the mood for instrumental masterpieces. Just my humble opinion.
I got that same PGM401 Mr. Gilbert! Yours is slightly different with the vintage style tremolo whereas mine has the Gotoh GTC101 found on your 301 :) Thanks for the shreddy advice :)
Paul, do you still have that killer purple Ibanez with the mini buckers in it from your first instructional video? Are there models that are still built with same specs? I would love one of those🙏✌️
Any tales about Buckethead would be so appreciated and of course Shawn Lane. You are such an influence to me and I know so many other musicians out there. 1:20 - 1:22 sounds like Buckethead...Nice.
"Not gonna complain about being called anything!" Paul is amazing, hours have been wasted with guitarists fighting about who is/isn't shred. I'm this I'm that, Pablo just saus fuck it!
Paul seems like the most genuine, kind-hearted, and passionate guy who loves being goofy and appreciates what he has. My favorite guitar personality by far.
1:31 Paul is literally miming every note he's playing with his guitar faces right here, lol. Just amazing.
Left brain for shred, right brain for feeling. Shred with feeling, folks.

what an articulate guy, love hearing his wisdom. another vote for wanting an episode talking about Buckethead
"Snarling angry dog licks"! Hahah brilliant
The child-like joy this guy gets from playing mindless, absolutely face melting shred licks is seriously some of the most inspiring stuff I've ever seen. In particular, 1:40
Paul is hilarious. As long as the last note is good... you can shred however you want. Truer words have never been spoken
I dont listen to metal or shred but I will always watch a Paul Gilbert interview. Such a cool dude.
There's very little to no wasted motion in his playing.
So smooth and efficient.
Find another person that makes better guitar faces than Paul Gilbert. Go ahead, I'll wait.
buckethead
Well played sir, well played...
lol
Real answer? Steve Vai. Maybe on the same level.
+work1907 Expression -yes but he over does it. Too much show.

It's so easy to like Paul he's a fantastic player without a doubt but he is always a great guy and fun to talk to... so down to earth
You've got such a great sense of humor Paul!
Paul is a Treasure!
Man how can anyone shred and use the whammy for huge vibratos yet not go outta tune without a locking tuner, only Paul the great 😍😍😍😍😍
Kudos Paul...I don't think I've heard any shred guitarist mention Frank Marino...one of my faves!
That last bit, is really what we should keep from that ! (And it could be a blow on Friedman's remarks on the word "shred")
Love you Paul. So humble and all around great. The new album was amazing ! Much love from Greece
Paul must have a great character to maintain that congenial demeanor given all what he achieved...!
Yeah! Now, this starts to become a real RUclips-Channel! Love it! :)

\m/ from india bro
Yet another channel I started binge watching, while I really should be playing... Great guy Paul!
he's still faster than he'll but his playing has gotten much more soulful. Paul's awesome.
Paul is the kind of shred master that shreds not only with guitar but also with his face. Look at him go, every note is a different face.
That guitar is one of his sickest pro models for sure.
Of course Paul your a huge inspiration, was watching your vhs tapes when they first came out !
seems like yesterday.
Paul is the best !!!
paul gilbert is the Keanu Reeves of guitar. never gets old. never tires.
Paul is the fucking man!
I wished Paul played this kind of shred still.
What a great guy.
I love Gilbert, he's awesome!!
Favorite shredder of all time. Clean as hell
Love that guitar he's using here. Very cool.
Never seizes to amaze me!
U r such an musical creature. Thanks for all the knowledge you share man, it means a lot to us normal human beings.

It's been a long time without whammy bar...my favourite guitar virtuoso

100% if you can shred but can't bend & vibrato then you're still riding with training wheels. .. all the greats can control the string, but not all the greats can shred
1:41 HAHAHA!! Pablo Gilberto Hulks Out!!!
If you turn the sound down, he looks like he's chewin someone's ass out....lol
He's funny and SO talented.

Grandpa Paul is still fantastic 🤘😁
"The Ocean of Shred" is a great analogue.
"Alright, theres some stuff in there"
"Nobody bombed my airport lately."
Greetings from Belgium ! :D
Such a cool dude.
Paul Gilbert has such crazy long fingers!
the guy gets in to it!
I wonder if it would sound the same if you pulled different faces while playing haha... Your awesome 🏴
It'll never be fast enough!!!
Awesome!!!
Paul Gilbert has the most insane shred face ever
Paul, do you still have that killer purple Ibanez with the mini buckers in it from your first instructional video? Are there models that are still built with same specs? I would love one of those🙏✌️

Didnt sean lane get too fat and explode...fucking chump was a clown
@@snippytheschmuck8471 Show some respect to one of the greatest guitarists ever you kook.
beauty guitar
We had one Frank Marino track in the house - live with Mahogany Rush doing 'Johnny B Goode'. Certainly made my ears prick up.
Almost 20K views. No dislikes. Paul. Gilbert.
Paul should do a series about his self made official website
0:49 How is it that Steve Morse is obscure even in the world of guitar players? One of the best in the world
Kirk Hammet has exited the chat
Shred was originally a surfer term
Paul is king of the guitar face
LOL, I wish I could emulate those faces too, not just the shredding!
Lynch vibrato!!!
Doug Steele Guitarist your a badass your self Doug....quick n nasty....
I agree with Paul - shredding without vibrato, inflection, and bending is really one dimensional.
"Not gonna complain about being called anything!"
Paul is amazing, hours have been wasted with guitarists fighting about who is/isn't shred. I'm this I'm that, Pablo just saus fuck it!
those are definitely the dying faces of the multiple people he has murdered
There's a fine line between shred and sounding like a typewriter (it's was your grandparents used to before computers, kids).
MK
With the strength in your pinkie you can move the mountains
00:21 is where Buckethead learnt his licks from
What guitar is that? Looks great
at 2.28 paul says the word "Wanky" . ha ha
Yeah...before the shred term we simply called it "ripping up the guitar."
Still got it.
his guitar truely is an extension of his body......mostly his face lol.........lovley guy...great player....great human
Bad to the damn bone!
What's the opening riff I'm learning that...facemelter
I love u Paul 😘
ide love to have a pint and a chat with this guy

Angry Dog LOL. Hell yeah.
Ah yes, Mahogany Rush and of course UFO. God I miss the 70's.
Spiritbro77 : UFO??? Lol
What is the guitar model?
he is a monster
A real suoer olimpic hero!
Wow, I would like to get that guitar. Any body know what the model of one?
What if the amp isnt even plugged in and all that shred is actually coming out of his mouth, hence the faces lmao
この回すごい❤️ やっぱりポールはLovelyやね❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
