Honestly this was the best tips n review video I have ever seen. Props to you bro. I will by buying my c5 Z in the very near future because of you. Thank you
C5 z06 checking in. C6 z06 wheels checking in. Oh shit I have a c5 z06. Love the tips. subscribed. I’m going to do some detailing content on mine soon. ❤
The "gearing" is the same 3.42 in the differential. However, the transmissions are different. The FRC (non Z06), coupe and verts with manual trans come with with the regular T-56 trans. The Z06 comes with the M12 trans. Which when matched to the 3.42 diff equates to an approximate 3.90 gear. Which is a relatively easy & cost effective upgrade that improves acceleration considerably. But 4.10 gear is even better. (Maybe not if you plan to go FI).
5:35. Very incorrect. The late C4 (1990 to 1996) can also read codes through the cluster. It can also control certian modules and read sensor data from the cluster. The C5 diagnostic system was carried over from the C4s.
Idk if I want one as my first car (my uncle knows how to work on cars, and I want to learn, but when I told him he told me not to bother as it takes a lot of time and work and I don’t need that rn)
A bit much for a first car in my opinion. Unless you knowledge on how to handle a light weight high horsepower RWD car without putting it into a pole. They are plenty reliable and easy to work on. I would not let working on one scare anyone away
The C5 seats do not suck. My 2001 has the original factory seats in it and I am 69 years old with long legs, etc. and the original stock seats are fine for me and my wife.
Can't take the roof off? I've done it twice rebuilding totaled C5's, both Z06's. The roof is glued on. I heated up chisels with a propane torch and pounded them in with a hammer to break the bond, takes the better part of a day. Then a half day to glue a wrecking yard one back on. I fixed up a totaled 99 FRC 10 years ago and still have it. I paid $3900.00 for it with 40 K miles on it. Now it has 80 K miles. Goes 0-100 in 11 seconds. My Z06's did that in 10 seconds.
@@PerformanceOnWheels Can't take it off? What (exactly) didn't you understand about my post? Like I said I've DONE IT twice. Bring your Vette to my shop and I'll show you. Also, once you have the Vette striped down to the tub, you have a choice. You can rebuild it as an FRC, a fastback, or a convertible.
I said the stingray is a simple bolt on (or base if you are looking at the c6). Grand sport or Z06 you need a Widebody. Which is also a simple bolt on.
Real good Video, and awesome Corvette.
Finally someone out there realise that every C5 have front Break cooling, not only C5.
Brings up electrical issues but doesnt divulge. Great vid !
This video pretty much summed it all up perfectly. Thank you. Honestly the most informative video about the c5 you can find.
Happy to help🤟🏼🤟🏼
I like your point about the remote clutch bleeder hose. Next time you could mention about the remote oil sending unit relocation.
Fantastic video, extremely well paced and informative.
Glad you liked it, thanks for the support!

Love to hear it! I need help doing some paint correction myself 😬🫣

The last thing i want in my C5 is a large touchscreen 😂.
That's my reaction too. If I wanted a prius, I'd buy one.
I guess it's personal preference, but I think the trend of carbon fiber panels, makes cars (in general) look like pieced together junk.
The c5 corvette as a whole looked like it’s pieced together with the obnoxiously large panel gaps

@@PerformanceOnWheels thank you, I might stay away for now and come back when I have more driving experience…

They’re great if you don’t drive the car hard or push it to its limits in the corners!
Good video. Technically, C4 and newer Corvettes are not made of fiberglass, but rather "SMC", sheet molded compound, which is similar to fiberglass.

You say that like it’s convenient to do😂 we will stick with my statement that you can’t take it off.
