In pages of sale it appears version xp10 and it says to be compatible with xp11, also it appears in the same pages the version for xp11 ... Currently on offer the xp10 .... Would you buy the xp10?
I have to say I'm kinda feeling ripped off by this being that I just got this aircraft about 3 months ago for X Plane 11 and now being asked to pay for it again just to have a compatible version of it. I agree with the guy below me this isn't good for existing customers at all that bought this aircraft.
Yes, me too. I bought this plane and one other (PC-12) within the last six months - in fact, I bought the 1900 and never loaded it in XP-10. So yes, I can't help but feel a little ripped of by Carenado asking me to pay FULL PRICE AGAIN. So, I've loaded the PC-12 into X-Plane 11 and I have and will continue to fly it there. If Carenado will offer their upgrades at a realistic reduced price to previous owners, then I will buy again but until then I guess I will fly another way. At the end of the day it is Carenado's lose as I really cannot notice any real difference with the PC-12 in X-Plane 10 and X-Plane 11.
No. FMOD's X-Plane documentation has only been out a few weeks, and the sounds are already authored via plugin. Just re-authoring them in FMOD wouldn't necessarily bring anything worthwhile to the table, and would have to be assessed in terms of worthwhile return on investment. If there's not much to be gained, but a lot of time goes into it, it's not really a worthwhile pursuit. But, having brought the plane to a more XP11-friendly native format makes it easier to re-open this plane for further development throughout the XP11 run, if the assessment is, that it'd be a worthwhile development.
They have added a lot of unimportant stuff, and now they want me to give them full price for that? No, that is IMO not the right way to tread your customers. The plane itself is nice but i won't be buying anything for XP11 i already have in XP10, what a waste of time for Carenado and a waste of money it would be for me.
If you have the plane for XP10, I would tend to agree... it's probably not worth the update, at least not right away. If down the road you need support for the plane in v11, that's what you'd be paying for. (v10 planes cannot be supported in v11). In order to make support possible in v11, the plane had to be re-authored to a very significant extent. Things like native scroll wheel support, new materials support, etc. are not possible to just "add" to the v10 plane, without significant re-authoring. The moment you add normal maps, a lot of bugs start appearing, and it's no easy task to take care of those. The infrastructure involved in upgrading the planes to v11 is costly for the developers, so while it may not be a popular move for end-users, you cannot expect the developers to invest between 1 and 2 years updating their entire fleet (at the expense of creating new aircraft), without being compensated for that work.
danklaue i understand that but it isn't as big as like a new version or an overhaul. It is an upgrade for a significent simulator, right? They should at least give us a discount
This IS an overhaul. For aircraft authored in v10, this is the end of the road. We can no longer feasibly provide support for XP11 for planes authored in v10, because the source format is too old, and so much has changed. I know it might not look like a lot to end-users, but a LOT of these new planes has to be re-authored. Basically, what a customer pays for when they get the v11 version of the plane, is ongoing support throughout v11, and taking advantage of the features that come with v11. Carenado and Alabeo will be spending the next 1-2 years updating their 50 planes to v11, after having provided free upgrades to their entire fleet of planes (throughout version 3.4) for over 7 years now. These next 1-2 years, new staff is being hired to keep up with the work, new equipment is being purchased, new software programs, new learning curves, and these types of things cannot be expected to go unpaid.
No, when I said "a lot of these planes has to be re-authored", I could have worded it clearer; I should have said "a large part of each plane has to be re-authored." Put it this way: there is NO part of the plane that remains untouched in the 3D graphics program. In order to prepare it for PBR, I have to tweak each object's UV map, in order to avoid artifacts being introduced, due to PBR. This is very labour-intensive. I also re-do each knob, dial, handle, etc. to make them compliant with XP11's new manipulator standards. (Hopefully they'll be fully VR-compatible, once X-Plane's native VR hits the scene.)
It was time for a little gift to myself , so I bought it ! and because i only fly at the Canary islands , i downloaded a free " BINTER " livery here : forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/31146-binter-livery-for-carenado-b1900d/ One thing i really hate with these video's , is the MUSIC ! You almost never hear the actual sounds ! So PLEASE airplane developers ...... When you make a presentation video , A bit music is fine , BUT let us also listen to the airplane and engine sounds ! ! !
Looks amazing. I should probably start working on my VC10 again.

danklaue so you are saying that every knob, every texture, every system is all made from scratch in the XP11 version?
