  • Thinking about growing your own mushrooms? Great! Watch this video lesson, and then check out all the further resources here: bit.ly/grow-mushrooms-without...
There are many ways to grow delicious mushrooms at home - AND, despite what you might have heard, you can do it all without single-use plastic!
Why is this important? Well first, there’s the waste of single-use plastic, which is industry-standard for commercial mushroom growing - and we’re all down with the huuuge consequences of these plastics on our ecosystems and communities.
Secondly, there’s the resilience factor - keen to create, build and grow food and nutrition systems at your home, that don’t rely on single-use inputs? Mushrooms are a perfect addition to your home food system - but only if you set up a reliable, reusable cultivation system - and for this, you’re going to want to use reusable gear and inputs, not single-use stuff.
So - if you love mushrooms, but hate waste and are looking for resilience at home, may we introduce you to our reusable, ethical, organic mushroom cultivation techniques - designed specifically for successful, cheap and easy home mushroom cultivation.
🍄 This video is a sneak-peek lesson from inside our ace Home Mushroom Cultivation online course. Want to learn even more no-waste ways to grow mushrooms at home? Check out the full course details here: bit.ly/mc-course-info

THANK YOU for saying it’s ok to use plastic when you’re starting out.
I’ve been growing a lot in my understanding of health and the environment, and trying to make too many changes all at once is one of the things that really stunted my progress in the beginning (and sometimes still does 😅)
    Baby steps lead to success!!

Absolutely - as Arthur Ashe says - "start where you are, do what you can".

Thank you for making this. I am interested in mushroom growing and also notice the massive one-time plastic use with the grow bags.

Saw a company here in Denmark sell mushroom grow at home kits in 1 liter milk cartons. You could request your supplier to look into this. It can save some plastic waste.

great idea, but the mushroom 'kits' are the final part of the grow (equivalent to the bucket part of the process) - the bags of spawn are a big step before that - but great that there's kits in milk cartons, that's awesome :)

@@Milkwood i relly like the bucket mushrooms, because it is reuseable. Will do the reuseable buckets as soon as i can cultivate my own mycelium.

great video! i really dislike grow bags. they're so wasteful and at $1.25 apiece from my local supplier they're not even cheap! i refuse to order anything online for this hobby, too. it bothers me when 95% of the tutorials out there start with "order these bags online" ya know? 🍄💚

It's one of those lesser known facts about a lot of commercial mushroom production. Our course focuses on teaching how to grow mushrooms in food-grade buckets. These are reusable, which is so much better than single-use plastic. If you’d like to learn how to grow without plastic, we teach how to grow in logs and in the garden too. courses.milkwood.net/mushroomcultivation
