What a f****** movie just goes to show man you don't need special effects you don't need scary creatures just the suspense, this is what you call a movie based on not a lot of big-budget just damn good actors a damn good cast and a good film crew f*** John! Whether intentional or not, this story could fit with many stories of human nature, not just zombie films. John, a mild mannered university professor, had to be brought to the lowest place a man can get to become what Evie needed him to be. But he couldn't keep it. He was weak. Charlie was a man. Not a good man of course. Not what Evie needed or wanted. For the entirety of humanity, this story has played out more times than you might imagine. Lust. A human emotion that has been the destroyer of kings. Deceit. False witness. Covetousness. Dishonorable intentions. This film, Plague, has all the elements of good and evil human nature. There's room for pity and admiration for the characters. Well written and acted.
I concur. You are the lion or the prey. Choose your partner wisely. And you are lucky if you find your lion to your lioness. Go lioness!
Note To anyone watching these movies: if I'm ever trapped in a barn surrounded by zombies and somebody starts screaming I'm knocking them in the head until the screaming stops. Be forewarned.

Just me or did you all get pissed every time those idiots screamed because they were hearing infected? I'm surprised my eyeballs haven't rolled to the back of my skull and I'm only 30 mins in. Besides that, so far good movie! After watching the whole thing. Man the last bit makes me angry. Can't say I'm upset with how it all turned out in the end though.

Masterful storytelling that excavates some of the chief attributes of the human condition: the interplay of love and loyalty with need for safety and protection, the natural balance of male/female roles that result, fear vs. cowardice, self-preservation and self-sacrifice. I loved the pivotal moment when Evie and John are leaning against the barn, and he says something that makes her realize that there is no hope of protection in him, and she symbolically un-entwines her arm from his. And then her final act which summarizes the conflict: his proper role is to protect her, even if he is forced to do so against his will. Just really well told.

I think that the concept was good but some things were poorly executed like why they needed Charles so much like I get johns a cowered but it would have been easier to kill Charles than to have a threat like him around regardless of his wife beeing raped

I agree with you for the most part. The ending was just awful though. They could have both made it out alive would she just get up. I understand that people can make bad decisions in life, (Although it was constant in this movie.) but shooting him and saying "I need you to protect me." was truly frustrating as he was already. He finally "man up" in the end just to get shot for no good reason.

I know that if social and governmental laws were dissolved I would be free to do all the things I cannot do today... and I would be free to be the person I know I am...

For those of you who think I am cynical, I think _you_ need to read more history, biographies, and psychology.
That was kinda the point of the Romero films. The zombies were a threat that could be easily handled with some intelligence and cooperation, but humans would rather argue and divide.
Probably the most realistic depiction I have seen of attempting survival post apocalypse, zombie or otherwise.
Got to love people in zombie world where there's got to be millions of solid vehicles abandoned everywhere driving around in a crap car with a cracked radiator.

These people are what you get when the group is not properly vetted and trained prior to an actual emergency. Not suprised they turned on each other. There will always be one in the group that is concerned only with self-preservation and will kill or sacrifice others for personal gain.
A small group of survivors in post-apocalyptic Australia seek shelter from an infection that has spread like a plague among the human populace. Evie (Tegan Crowley) and her fellow survivors become separated from her husband John (Scott Marcus). Evie refuses to leave John behind against the wishes of the group. The survivors revolt and abandon Evie to an uncertain fate. With the unexpected arrival of Charlie (Steven Kennedy) what appears to be an opportunity at a new beginning quickly turns to horror as menacing as the infected that pursue them.

Depends on how long after the collapse. Gas turns to gummy goop if it's left in a gas tank too long (around 3 months, IIRC). If a car sits unused too long (like a year or so without being started), its gaskets and seals go bad. I have the opposite POV: I find it weird that in a lot of post-apocalypse movies people are still chugging around in cars with lots of guns and ammo years after there would be no more gas or bullets to be had. :)
I know I'm in the minority here but I actually like that fact that it's a zombie movie about people and few zombies. That's actually a nice twist...
It seems like most zombie shows I watch either focus really hard on one or the other and then flip flop. Like how the walking dead was very action but turned into more of a drama after the zombie action became more stale. I usually like more action in the beginning to capture my interest before getting too people heavy. I don't care about strangers' drama until I get to know them better, which is what happens naturally during the beginning. A quick intro to the characters during the beginning of the action with short flashbacks and social interactions happening later are what I prefer.

Even now, I prepare for a SHTF scenario with an escape plan, supplies, weaponry/ammo, radios, first aid kittery, cooking tools/food, ways to make fire, rope, shovel, general tools, tenting. When SHTF hits, all you'll have is what you've put aside.

Best thing to do is get on a boat or houseboat and go to an island, east coast or west, which of course always has less people which means less zombies. Zombies are still human; needing to feed to survive...that's why I like "28 days" they start dying out because they couldn't find humans or animals to feed on.

If survival is the name of the game I take care of myself first then my kids. They know how to survive in the wilderness they just need me there as a leader or they bicker amongst themselves. Just remember even a stick or a finger can be a weapon, just gotta know how to use it right.

What a movie! Compelling story and characters, really good acting. Had me hooked all the way; Charlie’s character was forecasted so well, he was just too nice and I suspected him of wanting to steal Evie long before he made his move. Though I disliked her husband for his cowardice and hated Charlie, that just means their acting was great. The end was interesting, though I love happy endings I can still appreciate a good twist.

Love it. The actions by some of the characters was frustrating, in a good way, because I was invested in the story. Love the end. Good story, good acting, good movie.
In any type apocalypse scenario, the biggest threat is always gonna be other human beings.
If you got food, water, gears, gas, weapons, ammos all stocked up in a secret hiding place, you should not tell anyone and you should not formed a group with strangers because the more people in your group the more they drain up your supplies.
Making too much noise will dawn unwanted attention.
Yup and in the movies they always have family across the country they want to get to so they split from their community that's kept them alive in favor of braving the world alone for an almost 100% chance of that family being dead. They'll likely be captured right after leaving the group and interrogated until they give away the community's location and other private info. Anyone outside of nuclear family should be out of the know

A lot of people don't seem to understand depth and the art of telling a story where not everything is clearly explained or going "BOOM" all the time. A lot of the actions or lackthereof of the characters puzzled me and infuriated me. That provocation means the storytellers did a good job. Evie did a lot of things wrong, but she also waited out of loyalty just to find out her husband is barely a man. When they get attacked, instead of protecting her he tries to shoot himself in the head first. Let her get dragged off and raped and instead of doing what he did too late he crawled around in the dirt and cried like a baby. Then his "redemption" is leaving her behind when the zombies are coming. Not a man at all, but a more realistic portrait of the plague of modern society where men aren't really the protective, loving men they should be, but snowflake crybabies with the women having more stones than them. This is less about zombies and more a frighteningly realistic picture of how watered down and weak the majority of people are. Have the power go out for a day. Iphones and social media turned off. People won't know what to do, how to build a fire, how to change a tire even. I've seen it myself with the threat of hurricanes where I live. People panic and turn into absolute idiots. Again, this movie seems like the intentions were less of a zombie thriller and more of a nod to social commentary. Another point to mention is true storytelling doesn't just give everything away. It leaves things to the imagination and THAT is more often better than anything they could have created to show on screen. It plays into the fear of the unknown and is something rare, but should happen more. I appreciated that aspect of the film. We didn't need to see Evie's rape to understand the emotional and physical pain, as well as the mental anguish of not even having her husband step up to save her. We didn't need to see the zombie in the back of the car. What I imagined was likely far more grotesque than what they would have shown. Overall, not a huge fan of the weak characters and outcome as I like things a bit differently, a bit more optimistic, but it was a well done storyline with the protagonists being unique and not exactly well liked.
In an zombie Apocalyptic atmosphere at the beginning it's as though they had a party, and with all of those people in one space no one thought it necessary to be on watch,.... Strange!!!

John is too wimpifed to survive and deserves to lose everything by letting the one person he'd vowed to protect from the *ssholes that ALWAYS come out in a crisis situation.

Watching in 2022- this is an excellent movie! I can't understand all the negative comments. THIS is the true horror of the zombie apocalypse- the breakdown of society and the reality we are left with.

Movie depicted some intense moments of drama between the living rather than the dead. If you’re into a zombie movie with zombies being annihilated this is not the movie for you, slightly drawn out but storyline that keeps you guessing.

It is rare for a movie ... to be so bad that you want for all its characters to simply die. Charlie was the only realist. He was strong enough to survive and that means taking what you need.

If you compare this to the other free B movies this was actually a pretty good movie.
