There's also the Power Junkie. - uses 2 or more de6 for everything, even shunting 3 cars - doesn't care about the insane running costs and still makes a profit from hauling over 1km long trains
i came for the recommendation and i stayed for the dry humor, excellent delivery, probably can skip plugging your twitch channel three times in a row XD
I love the steam locomotive, I once managed to pull a load with a weight of 3331t ~82 cars and length of 1299m and this with a single steam locomotive. And I'm like the Scrooge type
the DE2 driver can be a "daisy chainer" doesnt matter the load or weight they will do it by daisychaining 10+ Shunters together even if they have to scour the entire map to obtain them.
Alright this was pretty funny 🤣 I just hopped off derail valley for a minute after pulling a long 2, and two long 1, all hazmat 2, from the harbor, with a drop at the steel mill and 2 in food factory with DE6, I was thinking about taking a second unit but I didn't, and the steam locomotive is my go to, and that steam whistle is....👌
One of my favorite things to do is gather a bunch of military cargo and steam my way across the map with plenty of unnecessary whistling. What am I saying? It's absolutely necessary. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Don't forget the shortsighted one! Of the 282 group & part steaboo, they are fine with the shunter, and even after getting the 282, they''ll still use the shunted for shorter jobs, preferring its larger front windows. But, their steaboo side of them got too much control, and got the steamer before manual service. After getting kicked in the balls seeing the regular maintenance spike from 100 to 7000 with the shunter alone, and 12000 with the steamer, they'll have realised their mistake. But by then they have made a pit they have to dig themselves out of. (Totally not me I totally did not do this)
I'm a level 3 ste-a-boo, 90% of all jobs I take are steam hauled and 90% of them are 700+ tons, currently on play-through number 2 but I don't play DV a whole lot because lack of heavy haul jobs
I pretty much exclusively use the S282, with occasional stints in the S060 given when I'm posting this, but I kinda feel like the behaviour of the big money Barry is more my speed. Load myself up with as much train as I think I can get away with and just see if I can haul it.
Totally don’t feel called out on the last one… totally wasn’t pulling 2300T with 40 something cars using 7 shunters because my DE-6s decided to despawn. MU is great until you have to manually repair and fuel every single one of them. Getting out of the harbor is tricky business sometimes, so for the increased wear and tear, you better take everything in that yard, run up to steel mill, drop off, head towards city SW and drop off anything you have for the farm or refinery along the way, drop off at City SW and lastly use the overkill of power to make the final climb to Machine Factory and town. You can take 6 shunters or 2 DE6s, repair costs end up the same most of the time.
The problem with the shinters is that they slip the wheels much faster, even when using 6 of them, so you get more wheel damage, they also overheat much faster so you have to manage the throttle a lot more than the de6.
I also like to pull 2k+ multi consist trains, but good luck backing them up a grade. Tried pushing the tail end of a 2700T train up the grade to the north side of the steel mill. It did not go well. I aborted and changed my plans once I had half the train phasing though the other half. Can't wait for the simulator update to roll out, and for that to get fixed
One i'm guilty of is the Family Man one or more de6 plus a de2 at the end for shunting And then there is the upgraded version: Large Family Man same as before but with multiple de2s that you quickly run between to shunt all your jobs at the same time
I'm not sure if this only applies to me or not but I call it the slow poke doesn't really care if he makes the time bonus or not shunts as much as he possibly can until moving on to a fright haul from one place to the next. another stereotype I could tie to the DE2 is the tunnel visioner is playing for the first time on VR and is to busy looking at the scenery to pay attention to the fact that he is going the wrong way because he failed to hit a switch in front of him and this last one which can apply to any train but mostly is based on the player the perfectionist will go out of his way sometimes miles away from his train to make sure all the switches ahead are pointed in the correct direction and run all the way back to their train!
I'm kinda like the scrooge, but with some changes: I take nearly all available jobs in any yard I'm in (the exception being shunting jobs) and thats really all, lmao
Right now I’m trying to haul a 3000 ton rail haul with the 282 and I really wish that I’d brought a shunter to help push. The 282 is just barely being able to move it. Of course the route I have to take begins with an incline so that doesn’t help.
That's incredible. I have a plan lined up that should hopefully have me doing the same sometime down the road. I wonder if the devs of Derail Valley will ever add that level of maintenance.
Good point. Maybe it could be an option players can turn on for bonus cash if they're feeling saucy. It is a game; thus it's supposed to be an escape from the tediousness and such of life.
And then there is me 2 diesels and shunter on front (turned off and just used as control cab cos of huge windows) and going with 4+ long orders at a time
I wanted to stick to the theme of the locomotives for this video. I'll cover those if I ever make a sequel. Don't get your hopes up on it happening soon though, I don't have time, I want to wait for more content to be added, and I'm still recovering from the hit to my sanity I took from the production process of this video.
I hate the steam train in this game. Too hard to drive. Everything else is fun, got over 70h, and waiting for update to finally land to burn another 100 or so...
Part 2 is out now. Looking back on this hit me like a ton of bricks.
There's also the Power Junkie.
- uses 2 or more de6 for everything, even shunting 3 cars
- doesn't care about the insane running costs and still makes a profit from hauling over 1km long trains
That is some next level gaming
Using only 2 DE6s is pure noob level stuff. If you aren't paying 100k maintenace cost for a 30k load you are just messing around.
For the DE2, there is also the person who can’t afford a DE6 license, so they lash up 10 DE2’s at a time to pull mile long trains
... Why not use DH4 instead seems a lot better
Lmao yes, to afford the DH4 i did a long haul with 3 DE2's and not even with multitraction, only by adjusting the throttle manually in every loco
i came for the recommendation and i stayed for the dry humor, excellent delivery, probably can skip plugging your twitch channel three times in a row XD
Thank you for the feedback. I guess I tried to make repetition of the plug into some kind of joke, but now I know to ease off a little.

Oh and they don't do the vr because they only have a laptop that rivals the sun in terms of heat when they try to use vr with it.

Solid video my guy. Watched it all the way to the end and enjoyed it!
Thank you. It was a big step out of my comfort zone, so I'm glad you liked it.
Nice to see I'm not the only funny hat game enjoyer who plays with trains.
why is this steaboo duch an accurate representatation of me(excluding the tomas stuff)

The steam whistle reminded me of the Demon 311

You should make a second part of This
Lol I love that T&F thing
I like the steam loco because it’s the most involved loco which I like plus you can quill the whistle
Couldn't agree more. The involvement is as much a blessing as it is a handful. Unlike the whistle, which is all positives.
@@agentofthespade I work on real steam locos so I appreciate the fact I don’t have to grease the loco and wait a few hours for steam to build
