You're not wrong... At some point someone made the executive decision that alchoholism was bad, but also inevitable if we wanted to hit our deadline. So we ended up buying a fair number of the bottles at the recyclers. We used Corona bottles because they're clear glass, which most beer bottles aren't. There was an epic spreadsheet comparing all possible bottle options though...

Beat eggs in large bowl with hand beater until fluffy. Beat in flour, milk, vegetable oil, sugar, baking powder, salt and vanilla, just until smooth. Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot.

Who finances this? I mean let’s say you have a cool idea. Going to a hackerspace and sharing with the community is not enough right? And if you are forming a startup from a hackerspace, how is the ownership going to be?
Murshid Ahmed Just a guess. You probably pay a membership fee to be there which pays for rent, tools, components, etc. And there might be some incubation startup percentage type deal where if you start something, the owners automatically get a percentage.
This was such a helpful video. I didn't even know spaces like these exited and it inspired me to search for one in Boston. Sure enough there are tons that I can go explore! thanks for the video!
I find this amazing. I have two questions: 1) Do you consider yourself an anarchist? If so, what drew you to its philosophy? 2) Do you know how this place started? I'd love to set something like this where I live.
I'm not involved with Noisebridge, but as a maker and hacker, I can answer the two questions: (1) No, I used to consider myself anarchist, but now I wouldn't in its most literal sense. I've been involved in bitcoin since early on, and I thought it was a sort of realization of anarchism, specially anarcho-capitalism. While I'm very happy about being involved in bitcoin early on, I no longer believe anarchy is such a viable philosophy, or to be desired. I think when people call themselves anarchists, what they really mean is as little rules as possible and a bias towards action, instead of a bias towards authority, central control and slavery. Because, even if you use very free technologies like bitcoin, email or the internet itself, you are still following the rules of each program and for commercial software/things, getting benefit from their hierarchy structures and forms of organization. Even if the rules are permissive, open and few, THEY ARE rules to follow, which are systematically enforced. My anarchists views have changed towards that: Minimal rules, a bias towards action, and trying to avoid making too many rules, since at some point, the positive aspects of rules start to disappear, as complexity, bureaucracy, ineffectiveness and wastefulness take over the society that lives under those rules. (2) Just do it. Gather likeminded people and funding. Use whatever you have, and do whatever you can do. That's how all things are built.
Hey Scotty, I just discovered your YTC. The atmosphere at Noise Bridge is such an excellent example of how I have tried to live my life. Coincidentally on my one and only trip to San Francisco I stayed at the Green Tortoise Hostel and the atmosphere there was very similar. I wonder if you have any connection with the folks there?? I'll be looking forward to future adventures from you. What a great life you have!!

I have lived in the bay area for 95% of my life and have been to the city countless times but I regret that I have never heard of nor been to this amazing place with such incredible people! THIS is my new goal! Have to visit as much as possible!
Murshid Ahmed towerds the end of the video they say that they are founded by donations

Well it seems like if you founded a startup, you are expected (but not legally required) to ask all the relevant people to get in on it.
It's all optional donations
I visited the space 6 years ago and everyone was very welcoming.
DEDSEC? Anyone?
This was a pleasure and a joy to watch. THANK YOU.
13:07-13:30 "growing mushrooms" im in
Scotty I just love your content, please keep doing what you do, that is just GREAT!
This place would be the only reason I'd move to California
You wouldn't be the only person to move to San Francisco solely because of Noisebridge...
There are hackerspaces in many larger cities
MeepMu yeah, but the culture is above all else
please dont move to california. theres enough of us.
do you by any chance live in AZ mesilla area? There's a hackerden in Tucson, you should check it out.

Yay! Someone else noticed. Also that the color of the room is her coat color. So awesome!
I find this amazing. I have two questions:
1) Do you consider yourself an anarchist? If so, what drew you to its philosophy?
2) Do you know how this place started? I'd love to set something like this where I live.
I'm not involved with Noisebridge, but as a maker and hacker, I can answer the two questions:
(1) No, I used to consider myself anarchist, but now I wouldn't in its most literal sense.
Very interesting keep it up
Hey Scotty, I just discovered your YTC.
Can I get a ❤️ from you ? Iam your biggest fan
Thank you😍😍😍 iam so happy now
