Hey, so, unfortunately the wiki is under heavy load right now :( we're working on it, but did not plan to have such high volume of traffic! Thanks to the host for mentioning it. Please, check up on the wiki in a couple of days (and not all at once! 😊)
@@dancarter1445 Well those are confirmed Views and therefore the actual View count probably surpasses it by many folds. And maybe it is just an Arduino running the site?. Then it would be possible.
Before visiting to some hackerspace, check if they mention if guests are welcome on the day you are visiting. It just ask on their mailing list / IRC channel. Most of the time, there is something called "Open Chaos" where guests can visit the space.
Thank you so much for uploading videos. Your production quality has gone up sooooo much since I first started watching you and ive learned so much. What you do is a gift.
I'm still visiting BrmLab in Prague. It's awesome, we got stuff like electron microscope, 3D printers, CNC mills and lots of other stuff. I mostly attend to LAN parties there, which are absolutely amazing, just standing there watching 12 people play on games on one desk.. Love these spaces and I wish there is at least one in every major city for everyone :) Great work
c-base in Berlin is really cool. member's lounge in the keller was really nice, though lots of guys just playing kerbal space program or world of tanks :) Loved the spaceship style of the place too. Always told myself I'd visit more often, but sadly am lazy and find it easier to drink club mate behind my own computer at home after I get home from work. Would be open to going again though, would just have to make an effort.
appreciate your effort so much, i am from Egypt and i like your channel because of the vast amount of information that i learned from you, i also admire you because you have the motive to share knowledge , and in my opinion this is a rare talent , thank you again for everything and which me luck on my journey which i started from 3 yrs to relearn computer science, i`v a cs bachelor from 10 yrs but never worked at the field , and i found you, and you become my mentor , i hope we meet one day so i can thank you formally ...
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with Hackerspaces, your perspectives are so refreshing! I'm taking notes to help create awareness of maker spaces in Toronto. I'm a part of two in downtown - which one did you visit when you were in Canada? :)
I’ve never been to one. I saw one in the US where I worked for a bit and I was amazed! If was even better equipped than my college in the early 90s and we had no complaints! I guess the precursor was the Hobby Computer Club in the 80s. That’s where I learned a lot and copied a hell of a lot more :)
Not at all. Many long-time members are somewhat anxious themselves and it's more of a problem when extrovert newbies start to demand to be helped or welcomed, as LiveOverflow explained. Working on own projects is a big part of the hackerspace culture and that's where self-education works best. Go ahead and visit the nearest hackerspace, ask for a Mate and maybe join a discussion. It's very easy to feel at home then :)
I can really feel the visceral fear that a load of people might show up at hackerspaces being idiots and annoying everyone, and saying "LiveOverflow sent me"
Oh great timing, you remind me to go Hackerspace in Düsseldorf :) Last year i found Hacker space there and contacted them, they invited me and i said will come to visit but had a lot to do, just was new in Germany, had to learn language and so on that is why couldn't but now i have a time can go there. Thanks for sharing valuable infos. Peace
Vid came out 1 minute ago; it's 13 mins long; and there's already 1 downvote .. there's some miserable people out there, that's for sure. Keep up the good work LiveOverflow - watching it now :-)
Off of mateheads.com, it's about $3.50 a bottle for most of the flavors. Not that bad if you compare it to a bottled root beer at many restaurants in the U.S.
Hi! Thanks for the video, it was nice to learn about hackerspaces around the world! I would also like to know, what is required to create one? Maybe you could give some recommendations? Thank you in advance!
Unfortunately for me, there are no "alive" hackerspaces in my region(the closest one is 7-8 hours away and there are only 2 "alive" in the entire country) so... My question is, how do I open a hackerspace? Where do I start?
If your after a hackerspace for stuff then check out CCHS(hackmelbourne) if your after cyber security stuff in Melbourne then you should check out the communities around bsidesmelbourne which is running next year and ruxcon. there are communities based around both cons which should guide you to other places for working on projects.
So start one! That's how literally every single hackerspace came to be. Someone said what you just said, and then they took it further. Step 1: Find the others.
Computers are like drugs. First you get hooked onto creating software and styling stuff. Then you get hooked onto cli and scripts. The lower you go, more addicted you get. Next thing you know you're chilling in these programmer crack-houses, exchanging stuff and joining groups. Weird stuff.
Yo, I am Indian but seeing how unmotivated programmers around here are, I am surprised that there are quite few of them around, though maybe they are not so interesting. I will surely look it up, maybe I hit on something great, would be quite a challenge being extremely introverted and all
Anyone watcing this video from Malmö, Sweden? I don't know how updated this wiki list but I would be very interested in finding a Hackerspace near or in Malmö.
Club Mate is in my oppinion so overrated, it tastes like plum juice with cigarette stubs in it :D at least thats the first thing I thought of when I tasted it
pfff…$5 for a bottle from a “German” drink like ClubMatte is just insane considering it’s Yerba Mate and you can get it from any Latin store (since it comes from South America) without the preservatives and commercial hype that club matte has.
