It's important to point out we were super rushed for time - Linus was in Shenzhen for something else, and only had a few hours to meet up with me. So building a PC in that time was pretty ambitious, particularly at the end of the day when the markets were closing. So some of that may be some of what you're seeing...
I saw his video on this colab so i understand the rushed nature of this video, hell if you told me to build a desktop in the middle of a mall i would look bewildered. Only reason i'm nagging on linus is because i watch his videos
It’s funny how editing works. Linus’ video made it look like you weren’t having a good time but you did. It was difficult to believe that you would be uncomfortable considering your personality, glad to see the other side to the video!
Linus seems much more polite in Scottys video and I find it more enjoyable. Wish you guys had more time to bring even sicker potential of you two. Great job guys
It's amazing how different the whole experience looks like when you compare Scotty's video to Linus' one. As always, the Strange Parts take flows more like an adventure, while Linus' feels more hectic and more like his style of videos. That's editing and content creator personalities for you. Amazing work and awesome collab, anyway!
I'm not commenting for the giveaway. I haven't entered because I want someone else to win it. I'm commenting because I want to say that your videos are inspiring! I found you a couple of weeks ago and literally binged them all. Your content is so interesting and have led me to some persue new skills, like software coding for example. I've got a grand idea of altering some publicly available source code to access storage media on iPhones that have been iCloud locked. I work in a computer store and we also do repairs on Apple products, most popular is the iPhone, and we get a lot of customers who have iCloud locked phones who just want their precious memories back that they can't get, and seeing what you have done in your videos, has inspired me to do something different, learn something new, and who knows, maybe I will find some strange parts along the way. Keep up the good work, Scotty (My name is Scotty too!) and take care of yourself! Much love from the UK! P.S. Sorry for the wall of text. TL;DR: I'm not here for the giveaways, your videos inspire me, and I'm learning how to make software. Oh yeah and we have the same name! :')
Well Yan and Yuan share the same symbol (and the same origin of Chinese character if we go deeper), so Linus is not that wrong. The rates are quite different though. So I would say it is like someone in Vancouver seeing a $ tag and asking "Is this in (US) dollar?"
Great job Scotty! It’s incredible how you turned this video around from a stressful mess (Linus) and added your usual awesome adventure. Thank you for being such a happy and fun person!
Yea Linus is very storyboard focused, tries to get a certain amount of content. Scotty is much more laid back and let's his videos be as long or short as they need to be
I watched both videos (Linus and Yours). I am speechless. Linus comes across as a cocky rude guy who has no idea how to fully enjoy the experience that you are offering.
Absolutely right, Linus is use to getting his sponsors to pay for his shit. The fact that he bitched the whole time instead of enjoying the experience shows his true self.
Just quoting: "Strange Parts " "It's important to point out we were super rushed for time - Linus was in Shenzhen for something else, and only had a few hours to meet up with me. So building a PC in that time was pretty ambitious, particularly at the end of the day when the markets were closing. So some of that may be some of what you're seeing..."
Taobao, for anyone who doesn't know, is AliExpress but in Chinese only. It's a subsidiary of Alibaba Group too, so it's AliExpress' sister site, and they both sell internationally. AliExpress is actually even linked in the site's footer. Depending on what you're looking for it might have more options or cheaper pricing than AliExpress also, but often it's the same.
SlavjanA Alibaba is for more towards company and aliexpress is for private consumers, it is Alibaba is big sister to aliexpress, that info i have on both ali.
Shenzhen is a dream for a electronic engineer. I wish I can visit their some day. Also I love debugging hardware problems, I hope whoever wins it has to deal with some problem. It will be more fun that way.
Hey, I just want to say that I love your attitude in your videos, always smiling and never giving up when a part does not work like you expect. Your videos make me happy. Best wishes form Spain, take care!!!
Scotty, while Linus video was pretty depressing to watch, you managed to make yours entertaining. Please keep up the great work. And would it be too much to ask you getting a Patreon page?
gah - can't edit. I'd definitely chuck in a dollar a month towards the 'project' videos. I feel the Scotty's pain every time he's brought to a halt and has to venture out for more parts/new tool in the hope that this is going to be the thing that resolves the issue. If I had any feeling about the channel it's my admiration for the eternal optimism that always seems to pay off. (If I ran this channel it would be a series of 'great ideas from bars' that ended with me sobbing over smashed components)
10:19 the guy was lying, im from HK and let me translate it into English. At first, he said 688RMB( Roughly 115 Bucks) , and after Strange Parts asked again, he said 1680RMB. Remember, people in China always sell things at a higher price to non-chinese, please keep it in mind.
+ its because tense ppl from outside dnt know how to bargain well. Not only in china in Indonesia muslim sell to us people in night market higher than usual price because they think we re tourist . Thats why they let us bargain
A side of Linus I've never seen before. It's as if he has OCD for purpose ... he has to be on a mission or he gets lost. Great vid Scotty & Linus! Thx!
I was waiting for this vid, just to see if the pc works (well, it should) and I guess I will have to wait for someone else... (if that someone who wins it, decides to make a vid about it) This is a real adventure, having to go through 3 videos just to see if something works or not.
Cannot blame him, it's like heaven for us engineering, with so many toys to play with so many option to choose and from many unknown brand with so many hidden potential.
1st Prize - Custom PC assembled by Linus from Linus Tech Tips and Scotty from Strange Parts. May or may not work Love that last part. But Linus probably dropped it
I love seeing brandon popping up in the background, he was always behind the camera on the LTT side of the video. I also love Scottie's interlude giving us more context. keep it up Scottie! :D (also is it Scottie with ie or Scotty with y?)
Scotty with a y! And yeah, it was great meeting Brandon as well - he was a super chill dude, who seems extremely good at what he does behind the camera (even he can't use his giant RED rig)
Love Scotty so much! Only just saw Linus after watching the duo on his channel. Both are so amazing on how much they know about tech. Scotty for the mobile side of things, Linus for PC's/Servers. A good duo to subscribe too!
12:07 that's so damn right, I love online shopping too, less stressful, couldn't agree more, can find any info about the stuff we want to buy much easier, compare prices, etc, with our fingers doing all the walking from page to page. They should mix online and normal shopping, so even though we are present at the mall, we can browse the mall via online so we can find stuffs easier and go to which floor or contact who without wandering aimlessly hoping something catches our attention.
Same. I'd consider physical shops way more if they at least prepare catalogs of their stock, so you only need to drop in to buy the stuff. Rather than wander around, or stand in place googling the product info. There's also the social aspect. You can only badger someone so much until you become a bother. And other social manuevering you need to interact with people. An article or spec sheet doesn't care. Plus, I just don't like the shop guys hovering. While I do appreciate the work ethic. They would honestly get more sales out of me if they left me alone. I can't think straight when I feel watched. On another note, shops help me discover stuff I wouldn't think to look up. Stuff I didn't know existed. So just browsing is fun.
Are there any huge (like PAX-level) events held in Shenzhen? It would make for a great excuse for me to go candy shopping at those electronics vendors.
cool video, you really need to do a series about navigating the markets. i was completely overwhelmed when i first visited and barely scratched the surface.
I can understand what Linus is going through, his mind is trying to process too much information. It's sensory overload and he needs a water cooled hat to cool down his brain : )
Adam Woodworth I thought he was rude and self entitled. Granted he was trying to achieve something in a foreign country whilst suffering from jetlag in a limited timeframe but there was no need to railroad the whole collaboration.
An "almost, maybe working" PC giveaway is probably the best I've seen! Like you said - it seems more fitting for a GAW on your channel! I'm almost hoping I win the Frame SP stuff over the computer.
Dun Mealder yep he was. But seemed like because he got really stressed with the time limit and the huge building only to find out pc parts are limited and same cost when bought online in the west
For the people who haven't watched Scotty's "Strange Parts" videos, do you self a favor and watch them and then subscribe, so you don't miss anything. This is a fantastic channel with very entertaining videos. Next, everyone should try and visit China at least once in their life. It's such an unique and amazing place. I was lucky enough to work there for almost 2 months and had such a blast there, and I can't wait to go back. If you do go, take some time to learn the at least the basics of the language. Although, many Chinese speak at least some English, its really not terribly difficult to learn to speak basic level Mandarin. You will have a better time shopping if you can haggle in the native language, its fun and part of the experience, you must haggle.
Samuel Martin I've just searched a little and found out that it is possible, it's just that a custom bios will have to be written and the drivers would need to be tweaked
Thats exactly why I said it, also, you could only upgrade the RAM of the graphics card to the maximun ammount that GPU has been attached to, and then you would need that better graphics card to savage the RAM from, so its pretty useless if not impossible.
hi Scotty im a big fan of you and LTT from HK. LOVE that seeing two of my favorite youtubers in the same videos. though linus seemed not so interested in this place XDDD. // hoping to see you to do more projects on iphone!
I mean... 1:48 ... You basically see from Scottys Perspective what you saw In Linus' Video, how it's been shot, but you see the cameras screen and.... ooooooooohhh... trippy xD
As somebody who lived in Dubai for 9 years and knows very well how an endless market can start to become familiar, you guiding Linus reminded me of every time I ever took anybody to the Dubai Souq. BTW, you missed the best part when you went to Dubai. There are 3 blocks jam packed with components and tools. If you know where to look ;)
Jimi Leander Yeah, but it’s quite hard to splice a ribbon cable, and reconnect it, especially if you can’t cut the power and if you mess up it will short the battery and explode But hey, do whatever you want
Linus channel "Buying pc CHEAPER in CHINA". On Strange Parts"This is stressful and overwhelming.", "It is just more expensive than buying online." "I love online shoping" - Linus
What I enjoy the most of your videos is your positivity, thats what got me to subscribe. I've always wanted to go to China, to do a gastronomy tour and visit all of its ancient places... but now I HAVE TO GO to Shenzhen xD This is a nice collab from 2 of my favorite RUclipsrs and man, now I'm more in love with China!
Linus seemed super out of his comfort zone
yeahyhe was mot the same...
Ian yep sure he was like what I'm doing here?
It's important to point out we were super rushed for time - Linus was in Shenzhen for something else, and only had a few hours to meet up with me. So building a PC in that time was pretty ambitious, particularly at the end of the day when the markets were closing. So some of that may be some of what you're seeing...
A lot!
I saw his video on this colab so i understand the rushed nature of this video, hell if you told me to build a desktop in the middle of a mall i would look bewildered. Only reason i'm nagging on linus is because i watch his videos
Is so surreal watching a different perspective of the same video.
Jimaki _37 trust me
This is a testament to how important editing is in filmmaking. It can literally make or break it.
linus comes across a lot more friendly in your video than his
My thought exactly
Probably not feeling like he's at work. He's a little less "business like".
Editing GAP
6:48 I love how he talks about seeing some crazier stuff while there is a silly little pink rc car in the background
It’s funny how editing works. Linus’ video made it look like you weren’t having a good time but you did. It was difficult to believe that you would be uncomfortable considering your personality, glad to see the other side to the video!
Also, I swore I subbed like a month ago and had to again. I subbed when you did your iPhone video with the light and logo on the back. 🤔
Linus seems much more polite in Scottys video and I find it more enjoyable. Wish you guys had more time to bring even sicker potential of you two. Great job guys
Mate Andy yeah linus came across as a bit of a douche is his vid
That was generous of Scotty to edit it that way. The video on linus's channel got much more hate
The sign in Russian translates to:
Bitcoin Mountain Machine
Бинкоинская горная машина
LOL!
CANRUSH molodets ;)
I guess I'm 2 years late to point that out
I would actually love to see an episode in which you show off cheap tech gadgets you found on the market!
This was awesome. You're so polite all the time hahah.

P.S. Sorry for the wall of text.
TL;DR:
I'm not here for the giveaways, your videos inspire me, and I'm learning how to make software. Oh yeah and we have the same name! :')
You seem nice :)
"What is this in? Yen?"
*Chinese person with glowing eyes*
John Davenport all Asians are Japanese
Laukaistu :D
*NANJING flashback
hahahahahaha this do happen to some of us
Well Yan and Yuan share the same symbol (and the same origin of Chinese character if we go deeper), so Linus is not that wrong.
I enjoyed the video on Linus channel, but this was more relaxed and worked better for me.
Linus was too anxious, but I liked the video too
Yea Linus is very storyboard focused, tries to get a certain amount of content. Scotty is much more laid back and let's his videos be as long or short as they need to be
I saw the linus video a while ago and was really hoping you would make your own video on it. This is awesome!
He acts as a rude guy while stranger parts (i dunno his name) never stepped out of his coolness
Just quoting:
"Strange Parts
"
"It's important to point out we were super rushed for time - Linus was in Shenzhen for something else, and only had a few hours to meet up with me. By his admission, he was just really stressed on that trip. It was a bit of a mess.

Yep. Aliexpress is my cable website haha. You get pretty good quality cable without paying alot. And they ship free to my country.
Shenzhen is a dream for a electronic engineer. I wish I can visit their some day. Also I love debugging hardware problems, I hope whoever wins it has to deal with some problem. It will be more fun that way.
It's so amazing.. You can prototype a PCB in like an hour..
So this is stealth shooting linus was talking about. Legit ninja 😂.
great going guys! looking forward for more such collabs
It's nice seeing father and son spending some time together
Which one is the father and which one the son?
just look at the beard
But I thought Linus is a father who has a daughter while Scotty seems to be single.
well,i think this comment just make for fun
me too
Hey, I just want to say that I love your attitude in your videos, always smiling and never giving up when a part does not work like you expect. Your videos make me happy. Best wishes form Spain, take care!!!
I'm with you. Scotty's childlike wonder is the reason I watch this channel.
Sailboat in the desert with his friend from hackerspace was amazing :) something everyone dreamed of when he/she was younger hahah
Scotty, while Linus video was pretty depressing to watch, you managed to make yours entertaining. Please keep up the great work. And would it be too much to ask you getting a Patreon page?
Just come back from googling "Strange Parts Patreon"
gah - can't edit.
I'd definitely chuck in a dollar a month towards the 'project' videos.
I feel the Scotty's pain every time he's brought to a halt and has to venture out for more parts/new tool in the hope that this is going to be the thing that resolves the issue.

at least he's not buying that one
You should listen more carefully. the '1' is not clear, but I think it is '1680' in both answers. I also think the price is too high.
he said 1668 not 1680 yi quan liu bai ba bruh i from indonesia and understand it
+ its because tense ppl from outside dnt know how to bargain well. Not only in china in Indonesia muslim sell to us people in night market higher than usual price because they think we re tourist . Thats why they let us bargain
@@HazimWAE yeah haha
Such a shame you didn't get the wheel case, would have increased the speed of the PC by like 2
A trip to the markets has definitely been added to my bucket list. Thank you for sharing.
God Linus is stressed lol. Fun to see your side
A side of Linus I've never seen before. It's as if he has OCD for purpose ... he has to be on a mission or he gets lost. Great vid Scotty & Linus! Thx!
I found both of these channels serperately and it was awesome to see they actually collaborated.
Two of my favorite RUclipsrs have made a 2 part collab. 😍
I was waiting for this vid, just to see if the pc works (well, it should) and I guess I will have to wait for someone else... (if that someone who wins it, decides to make a vid about it)
This is a real adventure, having to go through 3 videos just to see if something works or not.
Linus is so overwhelmed in that place. Lol.
Cannot blame him, it's like heaven for us engineering, with so many toys to play with so many option to choose and from many unknown brand with so many hidden potential.
Ninja Master you must work with Linus.. Will be a nice Channel !!
Bhirawa Maylana I feel so badly that I'm missing out not living in China like that. Having local access to all those supply chains and resources.
I love Strange Parts and Linus, awesome to see you two together having fun!
1st Prize - Custom PC assembled by Linus from Linus Tech Tips and Scotty from Strange Parts. May or may not work Love that last part. But Linus probably dropped it

Wondering why they didn't bring dennis
Love Scotty so much! Only just saw Linus after watching the duo on his channel. Both are so amazing on how much they know about tech. Scotty for the mobile side of things, Linus for PC's/Servers. A good duo to subscribe too!

Amazing Journey, it’s all about the strange parts journey! Linus will get it one day.
Are there any huge (like PAX-level) events held in Shenzhen? It would make for a great excuse for me to go candy shopping at those electronics vendors.
try making a hackintosh. if you want a challenge try doing it on a laptop.
he should do it on the xiou mi laptop
I really like this adventure! You're an amazing storyteller!
As a fan on both creators, it's always fun to watch such co-op projects.
I liked the mash-up. Linus didn't seem to thrilled and too way overwhelmed though. I don't know how Scotty stays so calm and patient all the time
It's fun to see that the video of Linus is made on a smartphone. Both great video's! And you should totally participate with scrap yard wars!
cool video, you really need to do a series about navigating the markets. i was completely overwhelmed when i first visited and barely scratched the surface.
You're the best Scotty! So proud of how far you've come!
It's hilarious how Linus got stressed the second he decided to build a pc
Hahah. I want to see the winner make a video about it being debugged
Brandon's like: "Even shooting on iPhone X, I need to monitor the audio"
I'd love to visit Shenzhen someday...
You should’ve have let Linus drop it to make it official
I can understand what Linus is going through, his mind is trying to process too much information.
It's sensory overload and he needs a water cooled hat to cool down his brain : )
Adam Woodworth I thought he was rude and self entitled. Granted he was trying to achieve something in a foreign country whilst suffering from jetlag in a limited timeframe but there was no need to railroad the whole collaboration.
I found your channel due to the Linus video, kept watching waaay to late in the night! good stuff!
An "almost, maybe working" PC giveaway is probably the best I've seen! Like you said - it seems more fitting for a GAW on your channel! I'm almost hoping I win the Frame SP stuff over the computer.
I would love for LTT to host a Scrap Yard Wars in Huaqiangbei with Scotty as one of the participants.
I expected linus to be like a kid in a candy shop
PowerTrain he is too socially awkward.
Linus would need a handler, just like some kids in a candy shop.
He probably would have been if he had known the language.
Dun Mealder yep he was. But seemed like because he got really stressed with the time limit and the huge building only to find out pc parts are limited and same cost when bought online in the west
I'd love to see more collabs like this, I have watched both channels for a long time so it's amazing to see this kinda video
Nice video. Linus seemed really stressed. He gave himself very little time to explore.
Crazy that he would go halfway around the world just to shoot this.
Yep! So crazy that it's not even true!
Hands up if you had subscribed to Strange Parts before the Linus video!
Adam adm Party Pooper!
That was the most random electronicy video I have seen in a while, and I loved it
Scotty, man, you really need a stabiliser! It will make your exploring videos way better! 😃
OK Scotty, this is the moment I have been waiting for,get interested in PC building and then,ADD VRAM TO A GPU!!!!!!
Apurv Pulastya Adding vram to a gpu can't be done
This crossover was amazing! Hope to see you and Linus together in another video in both Chanel’s
I find it such more Interesting to watch this video from a different perspective now :D
I mean... 1:48 ...
You basically see from Scottys Perspective what you saw In Linus' Video, how it's been shot, but you see the cameras screen and.... ooooooooohhh... trippy xD
Also how different the cutting priorities are i really enjoy!
YAAAAAAS! Scrapyard Wars with StrangeParts!!!!!!!
I was there too and i needed a second suitcase for travelling back... they best way to be there is just go with the flow... great video!
I can imagine. I'll be like a kid in a candy store.
Just watched your iPhone 7 headjack video and now I saw that you recently had a collab with Linus! Pretty neat videos!
Try and build an iPhone in an android case.
Define ''android case''
Liquid Zulu build an iPhone with Android *parts* Vivo screen with under display fingerprint reader and Huawei (leica) camera module
🔥🔥🔥
Aluu 01, the chassis with which the components of a phone running an Android OS are contained within.
Xavier, aye that would be quite cool. I doubt it would be possible however given how difficult hackintosh's already are.
More collaborations with other youtubers please 🙏🙏
That watercooling system is great! It never leaks!
those Geek love Shenzheng, the small business buyers love Yiwu, spicy food fans love Shichuan.......
Heard you're trying to start doing RUclips full time, I'll be glad to see more videos from you
As somebody who lived in Dubai for 9 years and knows very well how an endless market can start to become familiar, you guiding Linus reminded me of every time I ever took anybody to the Dubai Souq. BTW, you missed the best part when you went to Dubai. There are 3 blocks jam packed with components and tools. If you know where to look ;)
You know you're in love when you look at them like Linus looks at Strange Parts.
That seems like...quite the experience. I do love the idea of going to a market and just seeing what you can shamble together.
The philips screwdriver it's included?
Nice to do a giveaway of this PC ... I hope it's for everyone in the esrth and not only few contries 😄
I could spend a week in that tool store.
I bet I could and probably would spend longer because of the fact is that I have no experience on how to speak in any other language besides English.
Such a great combo. It's like two different worlds were colliding. Loved the content on both channels. Scotty your vibe is amazing!
I found you trough LTTs video and I am pretty happy about it. I like your videos and you as a person.
The best collaboration of two creators.
Hey strange can u put iPhone 7 plus battery in iPhone 8 plus cause iPhone 8 has lower battery capacity than 7.
Xtreme Gamerz Didn't know that he is the sorcerer supreme 😂
Apple usually changes the battery connector every year to prevent that, but I’m not sure
AL_O0 still not impossible. You can splice the cables and resolder
You'd still need he physical space for it
Jimi Leander
Yeah, but it’s quite hard to splice a ribbon cable, and reconnect it, especially if you can’t cut the power and if you mess up it will short the battery and explode
But hey, do whatever you want
the thing i love most about your videos is how you're always smiling....makes me want to build some stuff!!!!
my current rig is a dell vostro 1500 2007 lapop with a broken screen being used as a stationary pc. this would be nice
Bargaining is China's trade tradition.
It seems that Linus is not used to this way.
lol I would love to see a Scrapyard wars in China or Asia. I hope there will be more LTT collabs in the future :D
Actually LTTfans in China is hope for it too: )
Its really great to see linus out of his comfort zone
The giveaway is fun, but watching your video is much more than that.
Linus channel "Buying pc CHEAPER in CHINA".
On Strange Parts"This is stressful and overwhelming.", "It is just more expensive than buying online." "I love online shoping" - Linus
The shipping cost of that rig will be BIG...
shhhhhhhh...
editing made the collab better, eventhough i already knew how linus handled a guest and acted. great video scott.
