I went from Glencoe to South Wales last week in my model 3. One 25 minute stop at Preston South was all I needed to do that 500 miles. Range is not an issue….
Another interesting video and I fully concur re Tebay services food and duck pond too! Just a small thing in the title - surely 'loaded' or 'laden'? Even Northerners speak King's English? 🤣
I got my 3 Highland LR AWD as one of the first in Sweden when it was possible to get it here.. Can say I have not regret one second of that purchase. I've have been driving a lot since then and it's totally flawless and effortless. It's quiet, comfortable and a splendid machine for transportation. Not to mention it's funny when you want it to be too... Good luck with yours and hope you will be happy too when getting your hands on it.
Great Job! EV's make it all possible and Tesla makes it much easier and cheaper. most of my stops have been 15 minutes or less. Not enough time to finish my coffee!
I drive 1000 miles a week most weeks lately and can confirm that the Tesla model y does exactly what it does on the tin. 👍 I’ve just replaced tyres and topped up screen wash so far. Squeaking front bushes and some minor interior trim issues were sorted under warranty without issue before crossing the 50k mile mark. I’m about to put on some continental all season 2’s as the mercury falls, so I’ll see how that affects the electric consumption.
I always look for the 250 kwh chargers but, the 150 are just as quick most times as the car maxes out on our last trip from Anaheim, California to Port Angeles in northern Washington 1250 miles one way I never waited for the car to charge the people took longer to eat and other people issues.
Exactly that. I keep reading “my diesel will do x miles”. So what? You don’t drive continuously until you need to refuel - people stop for breaks. And when we stop the car is refuelling
Im taking in a lot of content at the moment and finally opening my mind to looking into an EV purchase next year. I will probably go used (20/21 PLATE) and leaning towards a LRM3, as i don't like debt. Children flown the nest so just the two of us. My needs are around 300 miles a week, 50 round trip a day during the week, mooching about in Suffolk at the weekend and yearly long trips from Suffolk during Summer on vacation to Cornwall or Devon and then at Xmas to Yorkshire. You're selling me the idea...... Nice video
I’d recommend getting a late 71 or 22 reg car if you can, they are much quieter & offer quite a few upgrades like double glazed windows, electric boot opening, heated steering wheel, 5 heated seats, amd ryzen processor giving access to the new user interface.
This made me laugh, I just uploaded a video about doing the same kind of trip Edinburgh to Kidderminster and back but that was just 600 miles. The only thing that caused me issues was traffic jams and the tesla superchargers at Preston being closed. On the return trip I did Tebay too for the very same reasons as you 🤣 On the way down I missed my usual ionity Gretna stop to try todhills. My bladder almost didn't manage it but the car was still at 60% 😂
Another great video on the road. I saw a video the other day about the 12V outlet socket going dead after leaving the car. It happened immediately. It`s really a bummer for campers. The video was from Iowa Tesla Guy. Were you aware of this issue? Obviously it came with an update without mentioning it. The fridge/ freezer won`t work unless using camping mode. Thank`s.Great channel, by the way. 😊
Alot of oems now work with plug snd charge with tesla chargers. So no need for an app or a card etc .. judt register tour csr with tesla and you can then just plug and chsrge. So i eouent say jdut get a tesla, but i would check it supirts plug snd -play- charge. Also octupus everse, zap map and i think chargemap supiets plug and charge too. Id regerster with tesla, and then choose the other app that suits tou best (thry sll do the same really) and register to that. I wouldn't choose more thsn one, of the others, as id assume youd either double pay, or it would just get confused. If tou an octopus joem customer you csn have yoru octopus everes plug snd charge, send the charge bill staght to your monthly power bill, which coudl be handy if your s bit short thst month. But any charger that ismt a tesla one. Will likely cost you a third to teice ad much. So id only use non tesla in a pinch.
@djtaylorutube I'm taking in the UK/EU I don't know is America does this. EDIT. Ignore the below. That just spat out what cars can use the TSC network. It can't find out or I can't explain to it what I actually mean. It's 05;30. Important points to remember: * Non-Tesla drivers need to use the Tesla app to access Superchargers. * Pricing for non-Tesla vehicles may be higher than for Tesla owners. * Tesla may prioritize charging for its own vehicles during peak times. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@StephenButlerOne Well that's supporting what I said and I'm referring to the UK/EU too. Being able to use the CCS2 connector and an app is not plug and charge, there are no cars other than Tesla that support this with Superchargers, they have to use the app because of the proprietary protocol.
I'm pro EV but have to say EV's won't really be a complete success until these types of video aren't necessary and you can just jump in the car and go and "fill up" anywhere a couple of minutes after glancing at the gauges and realising you are low on fuel. Thousands of people have weeks of large mileage driving in ICE cars and simply don't give the actual journey a thought. Personally, when traveling with family I make regular stops but when driving by myself I hate stopping (I am a truck driver though) as it really eats into your time, it isn't just the time on charger you have to take into account, each stop costs a lot in time and miles, time is money when driving for work. Figuring out how to charger jump to get the cheapest rates or just being able to make the next stop just isn't as convenient as ICE. This isn't an EV bash, they are perfect for those doing short trips and home charging.
I’ve done similar trips in both diesel and PHEV vehicles. Maybe it’s just me - and the many thousands who use motorway services or roadside food / coffee shacks - but I always plan longer trips
A bit of fun idea: Could you make a long trip without peeking where the next charger would be? Some people just drive around and only at the last moment go look for a petrol station. A bit difficult since the Tesla would probably show where the next charger would be when entering a route. Perhaps use the phone for route planning.
I could- but why would I do that? I don’t plan charging stops when I just stay local - I don’t need to? But in long trips? You can’t just “fill up whenever” because that’s how you end up fleeced at a motorway services. People learn where the off-motorway cheap fuel is and plan a stop. That’s all the car is doing - planning a stop
