I have a bone stock 318 and want to put a cam in it i know nothing on this i know how to put one in but the knowledge on lift and duration i have no idea it would be just for sound if you can help please i would really appreciate it
Bout to buy one but dude said he got it running then parked it in his shop and never finished the body work so he selling and now it just doesnt start. What u think i should go through furst
I had an 87 short wide. Perfect round town. I drove it until the doors broke on it. She had 500,000 miles on stock 318. I put in 2 timing chains and 1 carb. Oil changed every 2,000 plugs and wires every 50,000. When I had to quit driving her she only used a pint of oil per oil change.
You'll have a very hard time finding a good one and if you do it will cost you. Those old 1970's to 1990's Dodge trucks were rust buckets. I had half a dozen of them. Bought one brand new in 1977 had it undercoated and still ended up towing it to the junk yard in 1990 with 65K miles on it. Box was totally gone and replaced with a flat bed 2 years earlier, then the cab rotted right off the frame. All the others I had were about the same thing but they were all bought used. The floors always rotted out in those trucks. Damn shame.
Reading through the comments, I see where you say the heads are bone stock...Darn, all the 318 heads I have won't support that 0.500 inch lift without crushing the valve seals and crashing the keepers into the valve guide....Do you have head casting numbers ??
@@sebastian4062 ; If flat or roller cams give the same lift they will have the same excentricity of the cam lobe.... However they will Not have the same lift vs angular rotation...You are operating outside any specs except lift....Gutsy Xperiment....Your valve dynamics may be quite uncontrollable....or not....
Is this a stock valve train? I have a mild cam in mine and wanted something with a little more top end but I don’t want to overdo it on the rockers and springs
Oh man, you can almost hear the mullet lol
I don’t hear a Diesel engine.
We call it a Mississippi mudflap
Wawwww22q1q222d gada q2
The hair and gas fumes blowing in the wind
God this truck is perfect, i would just spray a satin or matte clear on her to keep that patina, beautiful truck man!!
Luna 79 thanks for the complements bro appreciate the support.
Personally I'm not a fan of patina but its a really cool truck
Mix boiled linseed oil and a little mineral spirits. Careful stuffs flammable. Get a rag wipe it down with it. It'll shine snd protect that patina.
I agree don’t touch it lololo

Did you have to do any other modifications to the engine in order to handle the cam other than roller lifters and the timing chain kit?
This is the same question I have
Please explain " Flat tappet cam with roller lifters".....How is this possible ???
Ya i was wondering the same thing
Did you have to regrind the cam to work with the roller lifters or did you just buy a flat tappet cam and slam it in there?
Just music to my ears! sounds great!!!!👍
Damn!! That thing sounds mean!! Great job!!

I believe a flat tappet cam does not have as high lift like a roller cam, allowing me to use the stock valves.
