People do not know that George Martin served as a an aerial gunner and radioman in the British navy during WWII. His exposure to electronics in the war combined with his earlier musical knowledge led him into the area of becoming a record producer. In this clip, you can see George excited and singing along with these songs ,which were among the Beatles most radical. It should be noted how unusual it was for a WWII combat vet to be able to facilitate with sound equipment and orchestration the avant garde ideas of John Lennon and the Beatles. There is NO question that there would have been NO Beatles without the presence of the great George Martin to produce their new and unique sound, and to turn their basic ideas into refined marvels of excellence !! The Beatles WERE the best in their day....they WERE "Rock and Roll". As an incredible team, The Beatles and George Martin created music that will live forever. These were little boys and a combat airman who survived a brutal attack on their nation by a conqueror whose " Reich" was supposed to last a thousand years. How ironic, it was THEIR music that may live for a thousand years INSTEAD !!!

George Martin was a classically trained musician. His ground-breaking work with the Beatles put his name on the map. Without his string arrangements on "Eleanor Rigby" and "Yesterday," to his Bach-like horn arrangement on "Penny Lane," the Beatles could not have done it without his expertise.

George's description is right on. When the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan, it was an instant feeling of the 'charisma' George mentioned. After all, it was somewhat impossible to really hear them over the screaming, yet I was somehow hypnotized by them. There was always something very pleasing about seeing them together, a weird gladness when John and Paul were together goofing around or singing their effortless harmonies.

Watching this on Nov. 5th 2022 after just unwrapping and listening to the Giles Martin re-mix special edition of the Revolver album. He said he acted as his Dad’s ears later in his career as George was losing his hearing. Today he is the keeper of those precious original master tapes of the holy grail of music, and the Beatle family and business empire has given him their blessing and full access and permission to carry on in his dad’s footsteps.
Well, at 7:21 we see Giles to the left of George with Paul in the studio control room. Giles is 53 now so in 1998 he’d have been 29 there, learning how to produce and mix a record.

He is a bit of a rebel that guy and they put him in charge of their branch.
.....so he would not cause trouble any more. He produces comedy records. He might like this nutty thing you call The Beatles" " What is his name? Brian asked.....George Martin. and the rest is history

I wish they had time to talk about Sir George's post-Beatle work with acts like America and the Police, but then again, he was promoting a CD of Beatle covers, so I guess it makes sense they would focus on his work with the Beatles.
George Harrison did a lot of post-Beatle production work for other acts like Badfinger, and for Ringo's solo career. Wanna guess who was George Harrison's Jedi Master in that regard?

Crazy how George Martin looks so old at 72 years old compared to Ringo right now at 81

No he doesn't. He looks normal for 72. Ringo only looks young because of hair dye and sunglasses and he's always filmed far away. We would all look 25 if we did that.

George Martin was great, but even the Beatles demos were good some in their own way superior to the album version, that being said, they were a good match.
