    Excellent video. I've been doing this for over a year now. Made my own patterns. I have about 20 ERG' s specifically because I was willing to buy them like this and make capes.

    For those of you wondering, the felt used is Kunin's Classic Felt in Ruby and the cotton (the one used at the very end of the video is Gutermann's Cherry Red. On Amazon, the felt (in a 9 inch by 12 inch sheet) is £1.65 and the thread (100m) is £1.75. (Prices correct at time of writing!)

    thanks for another great video i have bought felt myself to make replacement capes haven't got round to making them yet but will download your templates I have used many of your tips and ideas in the past they always work well. I reckon if you cut your felt first then keep them in your back pocket flat for a few days this would soften them so they hang better

    I love your channel and been a sub for a long time now. This is a fix i need to do. When I got my first ever Royal Guard ( Before I saw the film ). I thought they had made a mistake with the cape as you can only see one hand. So I cut mine up the middle and stitched up the side cut. He just became my Royal Guard Captain being different.
    On increasing your subs,
    Maybe you could add a bit of info about the figure before you fix them. Plenty of books out their telling people about were they were made, variants you might come across and how to tell if you have an original or fake parts. I know your fixing means they are not original but you do go to toy fairs so telling people what to look out for could be helpful and all the parts they need to complete a figure/toy.
    You could say that if your ever at a toy fair and you see one of these ( show item )and you want to start collecting this range, Buy it as they are so hard to find. Such as the clear plastic stand for the Maximilian droid from the Black Hole. Just seeing it on it's own you would not look twice at it unless you know what it is.
    I know you have done..
    Star Wars
    Battle Star Galactica
    He-Man
    Action Man
    Maybe you could look at these ranges to spread your sub base. I had the Action Man figures which I used in with my Star Wars ones as a child.
    Wrestling Figures
    She-Ra Princess of Power
    Transformers
    G.I. Joe
    Action Man - Action Force ( G I Joe European range )
    Star Trek
    Buck Rodgers
    The Black Hole

    I got one of the Emperors Royal Guard figures as a freebie extra when I purchased an original 1978 Death Star playset on eBay. It had both the robe and the cape, but the cape wasn't locked in below the figures head. Watching this video, I decided that I'd try to remove the head and put the cape beneath the head like it should be. I did as you said, with reasonable pressure, I wiggled the head side to side. Nothing. It was stuck fast. I applied more pressure. Nothing again. Finally I put maximum pressure, and it eventually came off some 5 minutes later. It turns out that the head had previously been broken off and reglued, so I had in effect broken through a lot of access glue. Oh well, it was free, right? I did manage to tuck the cape beneath and reglue the head to pin it down. I guess I'll eventually be looking for a new figure, but this one isn't a big priority for my collection, as I prefer figures from the original STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK line to the JEDI stuff. Thanks for the video though. I didn't know that the RETURN OF THE JEDI figures' heads could come off this way.

    mr polloi..i had an idea about making the outter cape more poseable..placing a length of wire along the inner bottom edge of the cape and gluing some of the material over the wire to hold it in place..enjoy your videos.

    A laser engraver would be great for this - cuts that felt very quickly, and seals the edges a bit so they don't fray.

    This time of year I noticed a lot of cheap velour-like fabrics on x mas stockings at our dollar stores. Might be worth a look in your local shops. If I find a color match I'll send some material your way.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  7 лет назад +2

      +Paul B That could be a good source for this sort of fabric. I'll check some of the stores here as well.

      Might be worth contacting snooker/pool table refurbishers as they might have offcuts of table felt in the correct colour for cheap/free.

      No, just a simple piece of felt. Will be easy to get, just need to find a colour that matches.

    Hey, Another good method for unyellowing plastics is 40-50 Volume Cream! Just let it sit in the sun with the cream on it for around 4 hours an it should work better than the peroxide. At least try it.

    looks like mrs. toy polloi has taught you well on sowing, but you are not a seemtrist yet! l don't think thats spelled right, but lm sure you get it!😊 do you glue the head down when your done??

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  7 лет назад +1

      She has indeed. Practice makes perfect. Each bit of sewing I do is getting better. I did glue the head on in the end. When I was happy with the thread I used. But it holds on quite well without the glue.
