This was the most amazing event. It is easy to forget what a genius Alan Menken is because his body of work is so prolific and current. His music marks many of the most important events of my life; graduation, weddings, birth/rebirth/death, this man is a genius. I have cried many a tear listening to his music. He knows more than anyone in the world how to pull a heart string.
What an incredible legend. Watching Alan Menken play his hits just makes me a little sad because I wish other masters of their craft would all survive to old age to be able to showcase their art like Alan is still doing. Think of a man like Kobe Bryant passing away so early, never getting to enjoy decades of love of appreciation. Alan is a gift, and we're blessed that he's still here with us going strong.

I love, I love my favorite Disney princess Jodi Benson 's song - Part of that World, it's so beautiful just like my inspirational song by Miley Cyrus- The Climb.
I wonder what his method is. The result is a song that follows a rhythm but it's not obvious because the notes in between the bars speeds up and down depending on the lyrics. I wonder if when creating the song they don't first decide on what parts speed up and which slow down. And if that's also following some rhythmic idea. Maybe they write down the lyrics and a small phrase or idea. Repeat that idea while humming the song. Naturally speeds and and down by feeling. Then decide on more advanced harmony and ornamentations arrangement later.
These stories are fabulous. Historical. Ps. Mr. Menken, I need a dentist. A dentist that can sing. A dentist that can bring a bit of joy to the chair -- and help me get the oral care -- that - I - need. I'm a bleed-ing heart for lyrics -- with a passion for 'sopherics that will challenge any truth -- through the ages. Just turn the pages -- if you please --- see, my prayers are on their knees --- while my heart is in my hands -- like a flip flopping fish. I'll keep busy with my plans for a new and better smile --- a polished gleaming stylish dreaming all consuming wish.
