Those who already love it, those that can’t wait to massively fall in love with it and those waiting to hate on every moment too lol we see you girls! Lyn Manuel had the HARDEST mission of his career til now: making music for a movie who originally was made by Howard Ashman. We musical and movie enjoyers must be happy to have two musical Genius making music for the same Movie! In two different formats. I love Howard and Lyn Manuel❤❤❤❤
I believe they might be going with the alternate ending from the 1989 movie where after Triton turns Ariel back into a human to be with Eric, Ariel is walking down the beach back to Eric as she sings “Now we can walk, now we run. Now we can stay all day in the sun.” And then they kiss and it cuts to the wedding.
As someone who was a little girl in 1989 and a grown woman now who still loves a good story, I do hope that this version fixes the problematic story changes that were made in the 1980s. I don’t expect the writers to stick to Hans Christian Anderson’s original ending, but I hope they make it clear that there is a couple years between the final conflict and the wedding, also that Eric and Ariel love each other for more than their superficial qualities.
It's funny you say that because they do make some of the changes you mentioned. Ariel and Eric connect at first over their shared feelings of not belonging where they are. Eric will be given more depth and character in this one with his own ambitions, dreams and desires (and song), and he wants something more than his current life like she does. Idk if they'll make it years before they get married rather than a few days seemingly, but I do know they aged Ariel up from 16 to maybe 18/19, so it won't be as weird seeing her get married (although that's still pretty young, like she's still a teenager afterall lol)

Poor Unfortunate Souls is also getting a rewrite because it's felt that Ariel should speak out against Ursula's manipulation. These are feminist motives whether you like it or not...
