To be fair: its kind of a good thing that we had longer periods between releases (the oversaturation of products is a huge issue in MTG for example). Its just unfortunate that we were stuck with such an incredibly obnoxious meta last year. My only gripe as far as the 2024 product line goes is that we didnt have any new structure decks last year.
As one who finally went 3-1 at my locals this year( played Yubel before fiendsmith, only loss was because i misplayed hard against Memento), this year was important...but also reminded me that Komoney will Komoney.
The edits just keep getting funnier. Yes, for me this was kind of the year where I more or less said, quiet quitting, I dueled less than less with my friends and barely kept up with the release schedules, but I’m still trying to keep up, but not as hard-core as I used to.
Amazing video overall, down to the very details. Just a small comment on the lacrima ban and the WCQ experience: the format, while not being tier 0, was GOD AWFUL to play bc not only were snake eyes/yubel making unbreakable boards, but every other deck was trying ftk/sack (gimmick, RB with protos, tenpai). Not to mention most games went to time because of the long combos, which meant that lacrima eff to burn decided a lot of games. So while the TCG exclusives blunted the blow to the FS combos, the lacrima ban eliminated this burn win condition which was a godsend.
0:18 so little releases? 2:28 right... the bonfire meme 34:50 How much Battle damage can tenpai make ? 50:11 The Forbidden Fiendsmith set 55:49 is this a reference to MBT's "one minute overview of the millenium archetype only as an an engine for fiendsmith" ? 1:07:31 the fiendsmith engine was so powerful, the banlist did something REALLY SURPRISING 1:11:00 how bad was this mega tin? 1:31:39 at least they are creative
insane video!!! You missed the YCS Remote of Latin America, right after Maze of Millenia but before Phantom Nightmare. Congrats for the great content as usual!
Something to add onto infernoid: there was a hypothesized infernoid snake-eyes deck that was actually pretty damn powerful. Though sadly it required linkuriboh to not get banned, which it did, which killed the hypothesized deck before it could ever do anything. Snake-eyes infernoid would've been a contender for second best snake-eyes variant if linkuriboh didn't get banned. If you want more coverage on it,yacine did a video on it.
It was good, but simply worse than regular snake eyes and hence never saw real competetive play. The thing it missed most was flametongue, an import than MD got before we did.
41:32 the new dragon brings out the floodgates…which was always the game-plan of the old cards. I know Genex is historically worse then ice barrier but ice barrier was a meme for how bad it was for years and the new support made it fully competent for the first time ever but it wasn’t the one that got a showcase but Genex did??? 😂😂😂 Nash must have paid you.
Oh this is going to be interesting being a fiendsmith yubel lover. I will always love this year because this is when i came back after stopping in 2015 since starting in 2002. So it is kind of hard for me to bash on 2024 yugioh.
Great video though it is a bit sad that you didn't mention the release of Ashened as TCG exclusive archetype in Phantom Nightmare and Legacy of Destruction. Can't say i blame you however considering how it had 0 impact on the meta.
Huh, there really weren't that many new product releases this year overall, were there? Well, maybe Konami should have borrowed a product from a friend.
I really enjoy these videos, but for this one I think you forgot the 2 player starter set, it did not add anything to the meta though so it makes sense.
@geek593 and have way more money to spend than me Other than the willingness to not play because they get interrupted and consider it a "good" turn... I'll never understand it. At least Magic's Commander format is being much much better at being what YuGiOh used to be all those years ago
Im definitly watching this instead of going to sleep
Was Sleep ever a question?
@@LeosAlloy94No, it never was
literally what i’m doing lol
Time to watch this, so I can watch it later when Josh reacts to it, and then watch it again when Jesse reacts to Josh
Then watch again when MBT reacts to it
I didn't even realize how few releases there were last year with just how many crazy releases we had
@@four-en-teeI agree, I'd rather have quality over quantity
IT ARRIVES LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I feel like you're in an unavoidable race with Rata to see who gets their annual content out first, you've crushed it this time! Awesome work
As one who finally went 3-1 at my locals this year( played Yubel before fiendsmith, only loss was because i misplayed hard against Memento), this year was important...but also reminded me that Komoney will Komoney.
WERE SO BACK
Just started the video and am reminded of my poor infernoble boys
11:31 All I was thinking was the Sicko Mode jumpscare
34:00 bident dragion destroys spell and traps on revive only transcendent destroys any card
The edits just keep getting funnier.

While the 2024 formats were rough it's cool that the breakdown also highlights other tier/rogue decks that topped.
Premium quality content to start the year. Can't wait to see the rest of the recap series in 2025!

I say without hyperbole that this video was the thing I was most excited for this whole year.
0:18 so little releases? 2:28 right... the bonfire meme
34:50 How much Battle damage can tenpai make ?
50:11 The Forbidden Fiendsmith set
55:49 is this a reference to MBT's "one minute overview of the millenium archetype only as an an engine for fiendsmith" ?
1:07:31 the fiendsmith engine was so powerful, the banlist did something REALLY SURPRISING
1:11:00 how bad was this mega tin?
1:31:39 at least they are creative
I love this series, I plan on playing older formats casually so these videos help me keep up with past popular decks
I reacted to this in my feed so excitedly while on call with my friend he was scared I just injured myself
NOW the new year can begin
52:00 not an omni negate. Specifically a negate to effects that special summon.
insane video!!!
You missed the YCS Remote of Latin America, right after Maze of Millenia but before Phantom Nightmare.
Congrats for the great content as usual!
I don’t cover the remote YCSs for my recaps, that’s why.
Shame they don't do Remote YCS's for all regions
Konami: "You'll swallow your nostalgia slop and LIKE it!"
1:58 ONE MORE PIECE!!!
44:30 The Return of Arby's
Konami weren’t kidding when they dubbed 2024 the year of fire.
But I’m still loyal to the element of life.
Now i don't know what to do, wanna see the video and see the video with Joshua reacting.
Hmmm, any mention of Simultanous Equation Cannon?
Great video! Really enjoyed the meme-segways.
Will there be recaps for 2018-2021? Love the videos btw!
They’re coming, needed to do the current year first
Pour out one for the Flame Swordsman meta deck we could have had

@danstewy2452 yup. That's why I said it was a contender for second best build.
41:32 the new dragon brings out the floodgates…which was always the game-plan of the old cards. It's finally here!!
It’s HERE!!!!
wait what, 2024 had so little set releases?
daaaaamn i didn't realized that
I found gozen match had been limited during a tournament and had to take out two copies from my deck and sub from my side deck
Didnt wanna sleep anyways
2024: the Year without a Structure Deck
edit: i do appreciate the new Six Sam support Konami, thanks a lot
Boy…. What a year….
I paniced! I thought that I somehow lost recaps from 2017 onwards!😂
10:58 from everywhere, you missed the most annoying in also from banished
YO SCHMIT WE NEED YOU
Oh this is going to be interesting being a fiendsmith yubel lover. I will always love this year because this is when i came back after stopping in 2015 since starting in 2002. So it is kind of hard for me to bash on 2024 yugioh.
Wait there wasn't a structure deck last year? The fuck. Well at least the blue eyes one is coming.
Year of the Fire
ITS PEAK!!!!
I watch your Videos every night to fall asleep to
Watching then waiting for the Josh and Jesse react lmao
drastic draw in maliss ? hmmmmm
Gimmicks are top tier
Yubel
Snake-Eyes
Tenpai
Fiendsmith
Ryzeal
Good lord 2024
WHERE IS MY POPCORN ?!
Great video though it is a bit sad that you didn't mention the release of Ashened as TCG exclusive archetype in Phantom Nightmare and Legacy of Destruction.

You cannot mention BLTR without mentioning Ruxin34
20:51 nobody should care about or mention that abuser's accomplishments.
Lets go!!!
I really enjoy these videos, but for this one I think you forgot the 2 player starter set, it did not add anything to the meta though so it makes sense.
Oh yeah I forgot 😭😭
2024 Recap Snack Eyes. 😂😂😂
Yah i glad oss got ban hoping that flambure gets banned because god feind smith is fun out side of meta decks
Finally
Never clicked a video so fast
Ashened getting the Tistina treatment, not even being mentioned
The year I definitely quit the game. Some people may like how it's going, for me it was the last nail in the coffin, at this point it's not the same
Those people are coping addicts.
@geek593 and have way more money to spend than me

RATPIER 2.0 LMAO
No not really don't get me wrong it still really good but I say rapier is much worse
God, 2024 yugioh sucked shit
Shit year
The year I finally washed my hands of the modern game.
No mention of my beloved sharks 🥲🥲🥲
Also goblin bikers gone wild was an incredible card for the deck specifically when using it with fiendsmith
