REMAIN INDOORS // LYRICS
Beauty is but a visual in fantasy
Mistakes are only real when you slip out of it
Beauty is but a visual in fantasy
Mistakes are only real when you become the mess
Fall back on the cloud, man when there’s nothing new left to do
and there’s not a single thought in the cross-hairs of your mind
Stop shouting from a mountain
Maybe sing a tune from within you
We’ve gotta move to the meadows from the mire
This is a view from outer tunnel-vision
I’m holding position
This is a view from outer tunnel-vision
Now let go of your senses and let go of your time
We already know the message is gold
Can’t we lighten the stride?
No reflection shows the dark on our side
We already know the message is gold
Can’t we lighten the stride?
Beauty is but a visual in fantasy
Mistakes are only real when you slip out of it
Beauty is but a visual in fantasy
Mistakes are only real when you become the mess
Now let go of your senses and let go of your time
We already know the message is gold
Can’t we lighten the stride?
No reflection shows the dark on our side
We already know the fucking message is gold
So let’s lighten the stride
You can follow with me
Or keep walking against me
It doesn’t fucking matter, because I tried
You can follow with me
Or keep walking against me
It doesn’t make a goddamn difference
Now let go of your senses and let go of your time
We already know the message is gold
Can’t we lighten the stride?
No reflection shows the dark on our side
We already know the message is gold
Can’t we lighten the stride?
This is a view from outer tunnel-vision
I’m holding position
This is a view from outer tunnel-vision

Let us know what you think! New album is out this Friday.
my body is ready
Give it to me
I LOVE THEM ALL
It's sound so good, def one of my new favorites.
I've just heard of this band and I already love it
Whats even more amazing is that these guys are so well versed and musically intelligent they produce their own shit. They have said time and time again, they dont make musice soely for money, they dont make music for the fans, their just a group of guys that make the music they themselves want to hear. More bands should have this mentality honestly
That is what creating your own music should all be about. When people just waltz on by and bitch, then it is such a complete waste of time for them
THIS IS WHY THEY'RE THE GOAT!!! THE GOAAAAT!
They’ve said time and time again that they make music for them and not their fans and that hopefully people like it.
This is actually adequate for the Covid-19 crisis.
Lol made my Day xDD
I started with this, went to Ragnarok then finished up with Catch Fire
Literally posting this on Facebook now due to the stay at home order. 👍
That was what I was thinking
Lol perfect. "Adequate"
what a singer omfg...
Spencer just keeps on smashing it out of the park, putting perfect vox on old Misha songs. God dang.
Hearing Spencer utilize his low vocals has me questioning the universe.
It's insane how much he improves with each album. Blows most other vocalists in rock/metal away.
I still can't understand the improvement between P1 and P2 though. There were times on P1 where you could clearly hear him straining or really pushing to hit certain notes. On P2 it was like he'd been doing it all his life. Dude is a marvel tbh
Blows away most mainstream singers too
+ACE Music Not even wrong!
+pressxtosplode he had to record P1 in a week, he wasn't the original vocalists of the band. P2 was the album he had more than amplw time to do. But his progression is insane.
+pressxtosplode practice practice practice!
This is a perfect song. Congrats to everyone here for finding the perfect song.
It’s soooo fucking good! 🫡
I get paid friday, periphery gets paid Friday woooooo
Sumerian gets paid friday*
+Brandon and then aumerian pays periphery
Sumerian probably pay them a tiny split of it. They're a friendly label and I don't know Periphery's exact deal, but most label deals IN GENERAL absolutely rob the artist
+Ben Hacker-Hughes periphery have mentioned before that they are taken care of very well by sumerian. how else do you think misha gets all the recording gear he has
+Luigi Masella arent Misha and the founder of the label actually friends? I think I read that they were in a band together
Blackmachine B6 Test
So glad to see you used the riffs for a track
Awesome to see that riff become a full song! Always loved that B6 snippet!
Oxmodius would be tight ;)
No its not. Yur lying
💦
4:21 to 4:23 still gives me goosebumps. Still brings tears to my eyes.
Spencer's voice is really shining in this.
My girlfriend and I just got separated by her parents over a few shitty texts. In her room she had speakers where she would play her music and I would put on this song as a joke for her frail dance music ears, a dancer, but eventually she grew to like it. She would ask me, "what's that one song that goes like'BOOTAY!!'" so I would send her this song. It was one only songs she could appreciate out of the songs in my genre and we would jam to it. Her parents sent her away, very far. She cannot communicate with me. Her family blocked my number. Thank you Periphery, for creating such a beautiful song. I feel dead, and this song brings to life the times we had, even through tears. I love you, baby, if you're reading this.
Any update to this story man?
Shit! I'm listening to this outside.
what's the difference ? Still sounds good !
+Brian Lopez yeah I got it.. you're savage af dude
+Legit Muffins ha.
Playing Pokemon.
I just got that after reading it 3 different times... I'm oblivious.
yay a song about my summer
You’re 4 years too early
This will be the best album of 2016, hands down. Spencer's singing is just godly on this album.
the ending is so chromatic and eerie and I love it so much
oh the algorithm has jokes now huh
the algorithm is a troll lord
Thank you for an actually original joke
Fucking cheeky bastard.
@@aebious8886 yud
The All got rhythm.
I can understand why these guys can pound out albums as quickly as they do: Some of it, as always, are re-worked Bulb demos, which is by no way, a bad thing. I've heard many of the demos that were later turned into Periphery songs, and while they sounded wonderful, weren't finished. It's like creating an incomplete puzzle or project, and having somebody else find the pieces to it. Great music, as always.
When Pop Catchy meets Prog Djenty. Great
Love ure music
Thank you Kyle for your positive words (:
When Pokemon Go meets Thall ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
hahaha excellent ! :3
Cartoon Theory (๑•́ ω •̀๑)
Whenever you release a new song, you never fail at leaving me speechless as for how huge that snare sounds
same af lmao
Matt *knows* his snare sounds damn well, that's for sure. For P1, it was pretty solid and well-rounded, and in P2, it was a bit heavier, more improved, and in P3, it's no different of a story. He just *delivers* that precise, yet ambient sound, and it gives the whole band's sound a bit more of a dynamic punch, ya know?
+GumiNightPower don't forget juggernaut. the snare was fat as fuck on those.
Peyton Weir Oh hell yes. Hell Below, Alpha, Psychosphere, that snare is bloody *fantastic*.
it amazes me that even his ghost notes can cut through 3 guitars, bass and vocals, that snare is unreal.
The opening riff is the first riff of Axe-FX II Presets video.
Crazy shit.
I know i've heard it somewhere
Blackmachine B6 Test.
Never imagined a day that this riff would turn out to be in an actual song by them! Super stoked for their album!
I WAITED SO LONG!!!
das it
awesome devin townsend vibes in this song i fucking love it.
I was thinking the same thing.
so THAT'S why i love it so much
just as I was reading this I was thinking "I wonder why he-" the choir vox came in and then I was like "Oh damn"
Especially at 3:30. Spencer shows his love for Devy's vocals.
Absolutely. Brilliant song. Also the production is similar to Devin's.
I love the synth in this. Sick how it slowly loses it's high end with Spencer's vocals. Adds so much depth!
So glad I am not the only one who noticed the subtle differences in the synth and how it corresponded to Spencer’s vocals. For someone reading this comment, basically in the middle when Spencer says “the dark on our side”, there’s some higher range synth there, but on the end of song (third chorus) that part is faded out to let Spencer’s higher vocals carry the melody! This is actually a very interesting song in terms of singing and melody overall. For example, the *tonal* screaming after the bridge that works with the guitar soloing and synths.
This album came out the same week me and the person I thought I was gonna spend my life with parted ways after 10 years and it honestly saved me. This song in particular. I'm so thankful for this band. They honestly saved my life.
Glad you found this song, hope you've learned a lot from that relationship and that you're either in a new one or as comfortable in your own skin as you can be day to day. Much love my fellow fan
Similar experience, except this was there at the beginning of the downward spiral, which I'm currently in irl.....I just realized I haven't hardly listened to this album since then, until now, stumbled upon this n skipped back to then vividly....10 years its been.....
@5:05 "DAH DUN... DAH DUN... DAH DUN... DAH DUN DAH DUN..DUN.... DAHHHHHH"
I love that part
Nah man, you're thinking of bee boo boo bop boo boo bop.
I'm ok to let my head fall off from my neck, headbanging to that closing progression.
😁😂😁😂💀
Jake Bridges, Electric Zoo my man 👍
The screams with the major/dissonant harmonies give me chills.
I’ve listened to periphery since I was in 7th grade, in 8th grade I went to see them live and caught mark halcombs pick, I remember it like it was yesterday shit seriously felt magic 😂 covid really has me looking back on how much of a blast it was to see bands live, I can’t wait to see these guys live again and continue to hear them grow as musicians/song writers.
Nice! 🤘🤘
*Holcomb*
I get a major faith no more vibe with Spencer's vocals at the very beginning. so awesome
Sometimes I feel like writing metal in major keys is silly and not "real" metal but then I realize my two favorite songs by my favorite band are Masamune and now this one. Cartoon theory is another awesome collaboration/band
love cartoon theory
How can you feel that way? Its just key. What makes metal metal is the tonality of the instruments themselves, not the tonality of the whole piece in relation to key. You made that comment 4 years ago, so I hope you're doing well. I hope you 4 years ago would look up to you now ✌
@@robadobflob3405 hell yeah. Never got really into making more serious music just ideas here and there. Check me out on SoundCloud if you want, just look up Jonny Glessner
My new EP is metal in major keys. It sounds happy
This song punched me in the face with how amazing it is
I'm done. holy shit, as if the other songs were already good...then THIS comes out. My God it's fucking amazing. Hearing that test riff come to life in the best way possible. Unreal.
When I first heard the intro of this song after listening to that Axefx video.... CHILLS
This song has it all. This band has it all.
This song has a real summer vibe, associated with geeky video game sounds... The memory of remaining indoors while it's summer out there, playing games ?
I actually think Spencer's voice has surpassed the guitar playing.
He seriously gets better and better each album.
Tryder50 noo way. they are so on par. mishas writing and playing is fucking phenomenal. jake and mark are fucking great as well. but mishas writing is just on another level. such talent from every single member of this band.
@@x0scimy0x Remarkable performance on their newest album.
GET READY GUYS! This is the best one of P3.
Hasn't even been out long enough for you to listen to all of it.
people already have the album
really how?
It leaked. Go buy it for 10 bucks off Sumerian tho =p
Like Josh said, it has leaked. But also, I pre-ordered the album and got it in the mail 2 days ago. Whole album is a banger!
Not only badass music but an awesome illusion for a background.
Okay definitely my favorite track released so far. Probably my favorite Spencer vocal display out of all their songs so far.
this song deserves a music video
I swear I hear some of Mike Pattons vocal techniques in Spencer’s vocals and I am totally here for it!!!
People say that music is dying, etc., but this, and so many other mind-blowing bands out there, gives me hope.
Been with periphery since 2011 and I've got to just come to the conclusion that these guys are aliens in musician form just gracing this menial earth with their grand musics.
holy shit i've literally been saying the same thing to all my friends all these years haha
Mark singing to Blackmachine B6 riff:
Mi-shaaa,
No-llyyy,
Jeff-reyyy
and-Jake-are-my-buddiiiiiiiies!!!
I can visualize this all too well....
ahahahaha
Where can I find this?
+Callum Sawkins Misha Mansoor's channel, Studio Updates
you know which one??
ahhhh, I've been waiting for those intro vocals ever since I heard them in a preview. Periphery never disappoints.
This is the first song that I ever heard from Periphery about 2-3 years ago and honestly I've never looked back. Such a great fucking band dudes! I love everything about their music and how it just fills that special spot in my my own musical taste where I'm like "I like this thing, but what if they did it like this and added this to it" it's freaking fantastic
Long live Periphery
1:45 to 2:02 it's so beautiful those guitars singing 😍💙🔥 so melodic and perfect like gosh damn periphery
literally my favorite part, and then back into the chorus.
@@jdbignall i agree all day fam
Strongest song from their album so far. Lots of Devin Townsend vibe, maybe even some Dir En Grey in the chorus. Cracking stuff!
Misha dropped this shit on soundcloud like 3 years ago 🔥🤘🏼
lots of these riffs are old BULB riffs. misha just finally decided to use them. motormouth is chocolate flob.
Yeah chocolate flobs is even older haha.
I remember this!
even Absolomb is originally by Bulb
What was it called?
the bridge with the synth is fckin amazing damn
THAT RIFF. THAT TEST. IT HAS COME AND SO HAVE I.
oh man! never though this bulb riff would get the periphery treatment.
happy to hear in this context!
This and lune are the best
where can i listen to Lune?
a
andrew sharkey there's a lot out there in internet land. just look hard enough. i heard the album 6 weeks ago just after price is wrong came out.
This song will hold up forever and so will the rest of this bands catalog
My favorite parts of Spencers singing are when he uses the more baritone range notes so this song makes me super happy
I am indeed remaining indoors to listen to this masterpiece! Glad to see Misha used the B6 riff!
omg 4:10 - 4:35 this is beautiful
My roots: Zeppelin, Rush, Deftones, Tool, Chevelle, Sevendust, etc........Saw Avatar at a concert and stepped up my game. Veil of Maya helping me elevate a bit outside my old ways. Now this! GREAT FUCKING ALBUM!!!!!
That part at 3:55-4:10 is really cool with how its layered with the drums. This song, flatline and prayer position probably my favorites on P3
3:10 - 4:08 IS THE BEST PART OF THE SONG OMG
The vocal style reminds me of Mike Patton of Faith No More.
Also check out their Catch Fire, kinda similar to FNM's Epic
I loved this riff before, and i love it now.
This COVID-19 public service announcement brought to you by Periphery djent
69 Likes on this comment...Nice~
Anyone else think Spencer kinda sounds like Tosin Abasi in some bits? Unreal
you do realise spencer is the vocalist and tosin is purely a guitarist? I mean if you mean melodically speaking i'd still doubt it unless you hear some kinda vocal shredding/slapping going on xD
+Ryan Cogar was just kidding 😂 yeah i know
Curtis Shaw lmaooo im 4 months late but i was cracking up after reading this
Hahaha at least someone had a laugh
Lol
Am I the only one who thinks the intro has that distinct Deftones flavour?
Those distorted major sevenths really sell that vibe, yeah
Band with VOCALS PLAYING absolut great.. and your MUSIC.
Best song off the album, without a doubt.
simply the best
Ahahaha! There it is! The word masochist. I was wondering if they'd forgotten about one of their most used words.
periphery 3 is growing on me so much. ive been coming back to periphery 1 for ages and periphery 2/3 mostly for instrumentals but coming back to some of the versions with vocals... this was awesome
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!! I cant believe I'm just now finding this song
Ladies and gentlemen, i give you the band with no limit to its awesomeness. Periphery.
God damn you know how to jam. The instrumentals and talented mix of vocals, from the angelic singing to the demonic growls, still give me goosebumps. Keep it going xD
They've all been good but this is the best track I've heard so far.
literally every single song has been unique while holding onto a solid periphery sound, everything released so far is amazing
The bass cut-through at the end breakdown is amazing
I can't wait for you guys to hear Habitual Line-Stepper, that song is fucking insane.
how've u heard it?
I got the album yesterday because I ordered from MerchNow, and I can tell you that he is not lying. Definitely my favorite song on the album. It has a similar feel to Omega (the song) for me.
+Jack Simmons I have the album lol.
Idk I think that's one of the most middling songs on the album :v
The ending to that song is unreal.
i love This song and lyric, makes me feel good !! please come sometime to Brasil , all the best to You guys
Are, like, the same 4 or 5 people going through and disliking the new Periphery tunes. I'm digging them!
That bass tone...especially at the end. It's ridiculously crushing.
Man that jam at 1:46 just gets me
"Flatline" drop-shadow just chilling at the end there
Spenders voice man ❤
I dont even know if there are enough words to describe just how amazing this song is. just , perfect
Man I fucking love that tunnel vision part. Makes me want to drive an F1 car for some reason.
Also really love the use of the Moog on this song, sounds so cool!
This band is so ahead of their time, they even predicted the Corona.
No they orchestrated it jkjklol
Periphery has no level cap!!
love the Mike Patton influence here
The eargasms are becoming violent at this point.
Why does this song sound so inspirational!!!???!?!??
I'm really digging Spencer's vocal lines in all of these songs, can't wait to hear the remaining songs off P3. This is really gonna be the album with the most groovy riffs.
One word.....Excellent!!!! It's new sounding, edge pushing, and a direct pounder on the brain!!! Good shit here!!!
Another excellent song by one of the best bands around these days
FINALLY THE SONG OF THAT KILLER RIFF ON JAKES INSTAGRAM, OMG I LOVE THIS TRACK
always wondered ehich song it would be
I have been waiting to see what that riff would turn into as well! knew at the beginning this was the song. love that riff
I listened to this 12 times today at work. So much that the middle section makes sense. Amazing song
Another That Mitchell and Webb Look reference even after the two on Juggernaut. The fact they all stem from The Quiz Broadcast makes it even better. Nice work.
People comparing this to Vanish Canvas. I get it, I hear it!
Spencer is a god
Stop shouting from a mountain, maybe sing a tune from within you. We've gotta move to the meadows from the mire." Spencer, your lyrical genius is showing...
Damn the guitars here is fire
I've held Periphery 2 as one of my top albums of all time, right next to Pacific Myth and Volition, but holy shit, I've had a chance to sit down and bang out 3 and I gotta say, my favorite album to date.
PTH is amazing dude. Glad they're from Canada!
I hear a lot of Incubus here, shit blows my mind. Makes me respect these dudes even more.
What are you referring to here specifically? The title and lyrics, or something musically?
Spencer's vocals, especially in the "Beauty is but a visual in fantasy" part sounds a lot like Brandon Boyd, the lead singer of Incubus.
+Sean Martin also Incubus has a song called Agoraphobia and the chorus goes "I wanna stay inside, I wanna stay inside for good"
Tryder50 Yeah thats what I was thinking
+Sean Martin aye, said it perfect. plus the atmospheric stuff from the synths across a lot of this album. A lot of people linking Absolomb and Epic by FNM, but I hear Make Yourself/Science vibes in it too. Which actually are rooted in Mike Pattons stuff and early RHCP too. Agoraphobia prolly one of my favs off ACLotM. Still impressive that Deftones (off topic) and Incubus have evolved and stayed with me from 12yrs old to now (28) mind fuck really lolol. I undoubtedly hold em responsible for my taste in music. Parts of it at least
God, thank you for make these guys existing.
Ahh this song is sooo good! The last chorus is perfection
