CATCH FIRE // LYRICS
Lock eyes like we’re staring down the barrel of a shotgun
Appear so quickly
Leave as swiftly as you came
Sometimes I wish I had the measure of a wise man
But I set the mood, plant the tomb and bury all the bones within
It sure is something when we all catch fire
Bodies burning like the sunrise
Stay with me, I’ll show you paradise
It feels so right
Give me that peace of mind and I’ll give you everything
Just know it feels so good that I could die and be alright
Alive
We breathe when everything is as it seems
But is there something much more?
Underneath the sheets, beneath the skin
there’s a beauty waiting to be adored
We’re cradled in the thick of it, but too ignorant to give a shit
We set the mood, we plant the tomb and bury all the bones within
Don’t keep me hanging from the mouth
It sure is something when we all catch fire
Bodies burning like the sunrise
Stay with me, I’ll show you paradise
It feels so right
Give me that peace of mind and I’ll give you everything
Just know it feels so good that I could die and join the stars
Give me that peace of mind and I’ll give you everything
Stay with me, I’ll show you paradise
It feels so right
We exist in this moment only to fly
Just stay with me
Twisting love as we hold it on the inside
Just stay with me
It sure is something when we all catch fire
Bodies burning like the sunrise
Stay with me, I’ll show you paradise
It feels so right
Give me that peace of mind and I’ll give you everything
Just know it feels so good that I could die and join the stars
Give me that peace of mind and I’ll give you everything
Stay with me, I’ll show you paradise
It feels so right

This is one of those songs that I wish I could listen to for the first time again.
Listen to the instrumental version then..., way more powerful than with the vocals to me.
You know what makes me smile? On EVERY new song they've posted, there are a handful of people saying "Best song on the album". And every one of you are right. This is album is fucking incredible.
Those are all people who just haven't listened to Lune yet
+Bob Dole Haha true that man
Periff's craft has definitely matured and gotten honed over time ;)
Preach!
True say, can't find a song on the album I don't love, so much variety.
Spencer gettin' that Ragnarok note once again at the end. Talk all the shit you want, he's fucking amazing.
Dude, yes!!!
But with better technique this time around.
Bro, he hits a G5 in Absolomb around the 4:20 mark I believe! Half a step higher than Ragnarok!
when i heard that part in Absolomb my asshole tingled
i wish he would do it more often.
2:13 when spencer sings "paradise" layed 4-5 times in a cluster of nearby pitches....awwwww yeaaa.
Savage Freeze even though the lead vocal part isn't autotuned, the fact that they used it as an artistic effect on the choirs is amazing
2024 and this banger is still not a genre
I like Periphery's upbeat songs. They have a unique feel to them.
I will forever stay with Periphery, they always show me paradise. It feels so RIIIIIIIGHT!!!
The fire I'm catching is this whole fucking album.
I know, this song is "poppy", and I don't like that usually, but I can't stop listening to this song. Spencer's vocal lines are amazing in my opinion, especially on pre-chorus and chorus parts. So catchy, so inspired, so effective. Thank you Periphery, for providing us amazing songs in many different styles, each time. Can't wait to see you in live again !
Stay with me, I'll show you paradise 😍 🔥
the entire chorus is so sexy. This is love makin stuff, right here.
+msquaredmusic2012 ikr! fucking tasty
The song is actually about casual sex and how there's something more underneath the surface.
More people need to hear this, only person who wont like it is deaf

Periphery gives me a sense of serendity as I take my place in the machine of society. I used to be a free soul that didnt give a shit. Now I work towards an ultimate goal of middle class benefits and its great but yet sucks at the same time because I want to be able to do what I want when I want. I turn on periphery when I'm down and the music makes things better.
DAMN! Spencer has VASTLY improved his cleans on this album! That chorus is so powerful!
Man Spencer's voice is so good.
I don't care what any of y'all say. I love their old stuff just as much as their new stuff.
And do ya know why?
Not because its Djent
But because its Periphery. It's them. It's their sound. They own it like champs and I love them for it.
That groove at 1:18 got straight men moving there hips
@Chad Cook nice
that groove at 1:18 turned me gay
That high note at the end made my eyes open so much they almost fall from my face 😨😅
Best song on the album hands down. Such a catchy chorus.
Just found out who Periphery is, I don't see how you could possibly dislike this band. They're top notch.
P1 diehards don't like them now either because of Spencer or because the newer albums don't sound anything like P1. Or both. P1 was a chaotic masterpiece but the new albums aren't as bad as diehards make it out to be. P4 was really good imo.
@@lazydog5065 P1 was godlike, but it's still probably my least favorite album of theirs. P3 and P4 were incredible journeys that weren't afraid to step completely outside of their comfort zone.
Honestly, I didn’t like them for a while because P1 detracted me. Thought that album just sounded like bad meshuggah for a while
Just realized this is basically a metal Michael Jackson song. And its fucking awesome :O
100%
Oh my gosh I didn't even think of that, but you're right! and it IS awesome!
Check out Epic by Faith No More. It's barely influenced.
Could you imagine Sponce covering an MJ song?
I'd flip out. Two of my all time favorite musicians.
+Connor yo look up periphery black and white they covered it years ago
Nolly has been listening to tesseract
I love when Periphery and other bands, like Get Scared and ADTR, keep getting better and better
Stay with me, I'll show you paradise! It feels so right...
You got that right, Spencer! Amazing song.
@1:15 That Vocal rhythmic line always reminds me of Faith No more’s Epic. Anyone else catch that? 🧐 Man this album is so amazingly diverse! Same with Hail Stan. Amazing band.
Yup me too@
Best song on the record no discussion
for sure C: i fucking love this track
***** yep, been basically on repeat ever since i got the preorder a week ago lmao
With all due respect, why/how? You have songs like The Price is Wrong and Motormouth that push the envelope and elevate djent to new levels with innovative patterns and riffs, but you consider this their best? Maybe I'm missing something lyrically, but this song was exceedingly meh for me.
Ivo Suarez it speaks to me on a personal level, much more than the lyrics on the price is wrong or motormouth does. i love both of those songs, just love this one a little more c: of course it's subjective because it draws on my own recent experiences to mean that much more to me lmao
Reverie Animation Studio Fair enough. I tend to focus a little too much on the technical aspects and not enough on the lyrical/emotional intention behind these songs.
jesus, even when ya'll write a pop song it's like the best pop song ever made.
Every song. Every song is a banger.
This song is Periphery's unicorn imo. When I heard it the first time, I was like "is it a metal rendition of a pop song?" 'cause it sounded so familiar. The grooves are simple but so f-ing catchy. A legit panty dropper...
At times I forget it's Periphery in this song and believe it's Faith No More(:
This song takes me to a happy place..
I love the grooves, it feels like this could also be a song on TesseracT's Polaris album.
I was thinking TesseracT the entire time listening to this 😂 the way the news goes definitely gives me TesseracT vibes too
thought the same. Fits on Polaris perfectly.
Jonny Glessner I was thinking more CHON for that one, but it definitely does have it's TesseracT moments.
I was thinking the same thing! Especially the instrumental bridge at 1:04! It's like a mix of April, Tourniquet and Cages!
PeripherracT?
Oh my goodness, this band makes such beautiful music. I'm so glad a friend referred them to me.
Perphery does Pop better than actual Pop lol.
yeah right, I'd like to hear shit like this on the radio...
Thats actually a pretty damn right point!
For god's sake dude, periphery is progressive metal. Pop is SHIT
zevex and Daksh
You guys should feel disappointed in your inability to take a joke.
Calling metal pop is not a joke buddy. Metal is far more better than that pop!
Does anyone else realize the gravity of the situation here? One of the most influential metal/progressive/whateverthehellyouwannacallit bands of the last decade just wrote a straight panty-dropper. A PANTY-DROPPER. I seriously hope this gets used as a single. Pure genius!
Old af comment but everytime i listen to this song i lookfor this comment. Brings lots of laughs
@@seane113 Hehe, me too. It's funny because it's true.
This song and this album are amazing.
they seriously etched a legendary metal album into history, this album is absolutely incredible. straight goosebumps.
A lot of "Slappeh Da Bass" and "Good Ol' Nollford" vibes in this one.
I dont think hes slapping :( youd hear some pops if he was. I think hes just playing with a pick but he has bright sounding strings with a trebley crunch
One simply does not slap the bass and not throw in pops for the percussive value
My favorite vocal performance on PIII. So pure and exposed. Spencer rocks!
I'm obsessed with this album! I was ready for a disappointment. I mean how many times can lighting strike the same place, right? But this album is every bit as good as anything they have done before. Periphery.. Love that shit.
i can't believe it! another masterpiece from the best band I've ever heard. I've never been happier that I got this tattoo
+sarin royce where did you get yours I went on the shin.
Sean Rouse on the forearm. It's always so cool when people recognize it on the street, it happens more often than I thought it would
sarin royce it does lol I had a guy run across the road just to give me a high five the other day. They really are more popular than you expect
Sean Rouse thats awesome. I was standing next to a guy who was wearing a periphery shirt didn't even notice at first. then it was like meeting a brother haha
I remember the first time I heard this song- I was flying to Florida on Christmas Day after getting a call saying my father has hours to live so I booked a last second flight. I was just getting into Periphery at the time and I wanted to listen to them a little more. This song really captured how I was feeling, even though it has nothing to do with death. It has become the hardest song to listen to but when I do, I play it nonstop for hours.
I thought I was going to find a lot of people here complaining about how this song isn't very heavy. I'm quite happy that people seem to like it, cuz it's kind of awesome
It seems like people can't understand the concept that humans change and evolve. It's beyond annoying when people feel entitled to say where a band should be going. The point of being an artist is NOT to do the same thing over and over again. They're doing what they want, making music they love, and HAVING FUN while doing it. If you claim you're a periphery fan but lose your shit when they change, you are NOT a fan. Get the fuck over it, go listen to P1 or P2, and do what makes YOU happy. If you don't like this album.... Then why are you here
I love this album!!!!!!
I'm not the biggest fan of this album but I just love periphery so much that this is one of those times where I decide to still
Follow them and appreciate whatever they have to offer. So go Periphery! Still my favorite band
hey well to be fair everybody is also entitled to listen new material from a band they like and say what they think about it, good OR bad. you've got to accept the good with the bad, you can't kick people out of the comments if they don't like it.
+sarin royce I never said they weren't entitled to their opinion. They are NOT entitled to dictate what their favorite band does but so many people think they are
Jonny Glessner my comment was directed at the comments "if you claim you're a periphery fan but lose your shit when they change, you're NOT a fan" and "what are you doing here?" How do you not see how my comment didn't relate to what you wrote? They can listen to new material and they can comment if they don't like it, why ask them what are they doing here? Obviously to hear new material. Jesus man why do I have to explain my comment like this. It was directed exactly to what you said.
I bet Periphery intentionally writes like this because they have creative freedom to do so. And ya' know, piss off those who only listen to P1.
i bet they accidentally write like this
+Gregory Wariner If they have to ask for an instrumental version, then that means they don't have the gift to tune out vocals if they want.
Periphery 1 was very experimental and chaotic. (no one listens to it for the vocals) There are influences from all over and you have songs like Zyglrox which is almost tech death but with their own twist to it and something like Buttersnips is hectic. Their new stuff is generally more stripped down and straightforward following the "djent" movement. Us P1 fans want the djent that was there before djent existed lol.
Pretty astute assumption detective
***** Hahah Meshuggah would be the last I'd go for lol Meshuggah are of course the 'founders' if any but I think Periphery molded the sound djent is today. Before the label of djent existed is really what I'm saying. It was just prog metalcore or even just prog metal at the time. People didn't know what to call it. There were no restrictions and no limits to what this new sound was. But with the formation of the label "djent" bands started following almost a rulebook and became very formulaic. After the big djent craze I was sort of steered away because everyone was going djent djent djent and people didn't see it then but now the genre has become a lot more simplistic. Now whether you like that or not is up to you but I liked P1 for the non-simplistic stuff, the crazy guitars, the technical riffage, etc. Normal listeners and normal people like something that's "easier to bite". anyway I'm rambling on, you get the point xD
Mile zero: " you left to join the stars and I cannot shake this off my chest " Catch Fire: " just know that it feels so good that I could die, and join the stars ". May it be connected but it's cool to think about
Either way Mile Zero and Catch Fire are some of the best songs we have on this earth, so thats something right?
Lane Taylor Mile zero was much more "real" more emotional
This is the type of Periphery that I like. Crushing riffs and rhythm. Melodic and memorable. And letting Spencer showcase that awesome singing voice!
wow... This album is DEFINITELY Periphery III, the last few were good but, this album is so far surpassed all of that. Alpha, Omega and Clear. Its just as amazing as Periphery II. LOVE IT GUYS!
I fucking love the poppy tunes they make, Spencer's vocals make them perfect.
And the contrast between heavy and light makes their albums godly.
I love this band only found them recently and omg I can't stop listening to them this song is the best song I've heard in years
My brother's friend introduced him to Periphery about 4yrs ago and I found out through my brother. Have listened to them ever since.
I love the chorus to this song so much
Jake definitely wrote that Tycho-esque intro!
Tyriphery!!!
twas misha :P
+Physis Zero either way, the guys sure do love their electronic influences.
I thought it was Awake for a second!
@@3AwesomeLetsPlayers are you sure bruv? Cause jake is known to write almost all the techno stuff in Periphery
“Give me that peace of mind and I'll give you everything”♥️♥️ I love it 👌👌 perfection in one song ♥️
Perfect album ever I heard, I've just surrendered...
this album is like feel-good metal 😂 I don't know how that can be a thing but periphery did it
I think feel-good doesn't describe it well.. it makes you appreciate what you have and reflect.. at least that's how I perceive it.
appreciate and reflect is spot on.
Brother... I found you...
@@DaRoachDoggJrr 😳👀
@@Niceri98i have returned
Is it bad that this is the first Periphery song I've ever heard? tbh, this is amazing, like I think that I should definitely look into these guys now.
It will be worth your time
Dude get straight into Periphery II from here, it's the closest sounding album to this new one. Tbh though you need all their stuff
Welcome to the Congregation of Riff and Bulb.
You need to hear Mile Zero, Racecar, Ragnarok and Stranger Things. And all of their stuff.
Check out Jetpacks Was Yes v2.0, very chill like this.
yes i feel the love
Hi, 2023 here, this song is still banging along with Lune, would love an acoustic of both 🥹 but I'm happy if not
Loving that bass tone
This song totally has a faith no more vibe to it.
Were back in the 90's, guys!!! Amazing pop tune though. :D
It's hard to find a song that gives me shivers. The chorus in this song does that. Danky
that f# at the end though... Dang Spencer...just wow...simply incredible
Twisting love as we hold it on the inside
All my aussie countrymen, Periphery is touring early next year tickets on sale 9am next Wednesday, I'll see you all there
Fuckin' pumped!
ye BOI
Shit yeah, will be at the brissy gig!
Anyone going to the melby gig?
Favorite song on the new album. This, Absolomb, Lune, and Flatline are all perfect in my opinion. All the other tracks are really solid as well, but I'm really pleased with the more bittersweet feeling this album brings out in me.
This album is fucking incredible I can't believe I haven't heard about them before.
I like how they write songs about love and breakups, like this one, "Absolomb" and "Lune".
Some subtle faith no more vibes in this
Man the bass is what really makes this song, Nolly is such a fucking beast at getting those tones. This album as a whole makes me cream my pantalonés, well done boys
this song is so soothing! and spencer's voice at the end "bodies burning like the sunrise" that's catchy!
everything is so unique about this song, if they choose this song to make a music video, that will be great!
Matt Halpern is by far my favorite drummer out there~!
This is always the first song i put on if im in a periphery mood i Absolutley love this band
Best song on the album!!
angel voice
The best song of all time, Nobody is going to create another masterpiece like this ever period. (Second time I said this with a Periphery´s song...)
You guys can't write bad songs... like... not even one! Fore-phery fan for life!!
This album is platinum. Every song has different sections that surprise me and make me want to listen to it again and then grab my music theory friend and say "EXPLAIN THIS." and make it that much more impressive. Want to see them Live so bad!!
i absolutely love this song, more than anything from the vocals and lyrics, but the instrumental is brilliant too, i love the whole vibe of the song, it feels so different and fresh, if they did a whole album of this style i would buy that 10 times
Here come the comments about "Periphery is pop now, I miss P1"
Yeah, but it's fucking true.
+Lucas Jenkins have you not heard any of the other songs on this album?
+thiscuzimstupid majority of it is cleans like his track on clear. It's a good album but you can't deny the direction they've gone.
You mean the heavier direction? All songs except for this one and Lune are way heavier than they are poppy.
Clean vocals also don't equal poppy. Absolomb and Remain Indoors are more rock for clean vocals than they are poppy.
But really, how can you even start to argue that they are taking a more "poppy" direction when you have songs like TPiW, Motormouth, Habitual and Prayer Position. The beginning of Flatline is also brutal as fuck, and Remain Indoors has some sorta metalcore scream thing going on in the middle. Seriously what are these people on about!
+Physis Zero I may be the only one who thinks this but P3 is their pop-iest album. Motormouth definitely feel like older periphery but as a whole album, it's definitely gone in a lighter direction. I don't get the comparison of habitual to omega. Maybe I just have to listen more.
Mix of pop, rock, pop rock, rock pop, pop corn metal core!
Man, this album has a lot of good variety in sounds. Great job guys!
Holy mother of GOD this is so sick! Totally makes me think of Faith No More at 1:15
Same!
Hahahaha yesss, I said the same thing
yes!
he does the Mike Patton nasally voice also in Remain Indoors
I cry every time I hear this beautiful song.
Why isnt their album even on the Grammy's for pop and rock and topping billboard charts? Like what do people listen to that connects more than this emotionally? This stuff should be played everyday on the radio.
Sounds like Epic by Faith No More at some points.
I can kinda see it, mainly on the bass. This is definitely more upbeat though.
+Adam McCann At about 0:28 and at 1:14 for a short time with the vocals too.
***** You're right, I see it there too.
I absolutely hear this.
of course! Everytime I listen to this song I hear that tune too!
this reminds me of a loved one
I really enjoy and appreciate the diversity that Periphery manages to churn out album after album. Well done Periphery!
This song is always stuck in my head 🤘😍
The Erised / Priestess of the album
Those are some of the most listenable songs to people who don't like metal (: I like those songs a lot because I slowly have stopped listening to metal lol.
You don't listen to metal and listen to almost only extreme metal and ironically these are the songs we both like the most.
+Steven Mertz exactly lol. I feel like metal isn't something I proudly will listen to for the rest of my life lol. like I know I will listen to Radiohead and The Killers for the rest of my life because they are going to be groups our generation will tell our kids.
I had a typo, I meant I listen to almost only extreme metal. I don't think I'll ever stop listening to metal as my main genre and if I ever have kids would probably tell them about bands like Trivium and Opeth and stuff like that. Personally, I've always thought Radiohead and The Killers were totally overrated and nothing special but to each his own. I know if I ever have kids those bands will probably never come up.
+Steven Mertz I mean I personally love them. they deserve the recognition imo because the lead singer for radiohead is one of the best lyricists I have ever seen. and The Killers brings the old school style back and renews it. idk I like metal still but it sounds similar now. anyone can scream but it takes some real talent to have a voice that gets down into your bones.

I love all these songs equally, but this one, by far, surprised me the most. I mean that in the best way possible :D
this is some catchy fire
This is so different, but so good. You guys are my favorite band. Can't wait for your show on August 28th!!
My love for their song “Alpha” is now in question after hearing this.
The drums are simply amazing
Possibly my favorite song off the album.
The groove is real!
I like this song so much and it's so different.
yup, this is one I can finally get onboard with.
I'm getting some Faith No More vibes in parts of this song and I'm living it.
