  • Andi received one of the first 2021 Santa Cruz eMTB's to test ahead of launch and watching this review we think be might be in love. The 2021 Santa Cruz Bullit shares its name with an old alloy model that was popular with freeiders back in the day, the new bike couldn't be more different. It features a carbon frame, Shimano EP8 motor, 630Wh battery, and mullet wheels.
    For 2021 Santa Cruz has resurrected the Bullit name and while it follows the same versatile big travel recipe its grandfather was, this new Bullit is totally… er… new.
    The elephant in the room is the motor hanging from the new Bullit’s frame and hulking great downtube that houses a 630Wh battery. Just like the Heckler, Santa Cruz has taken an old name and built an eMTB from it, but like the Heckler, it’s a new platform, new material and new wheel size.
    The carbon fibre frame is a Santa Cruz CC weave meaning a top of the line construction manufactured to keep weight to a minimum and strength to a maximum. Of course, this frame is designed around the same VPP suspension platform as the rest of the Santa Cruz range featuring a low shock position, but the Bullit’s frame has been adapted to fix an EP8 motor and 630Wh battery. Even the smallest medium-sized frame can hide the Shimano BT8036 battery inside and still have room for a bottle cage. What’s more, the battery is easy to remove and swap too....

    Excellent ebike review! Thank you. Bike of strong consideration for me but struggling a bit with price as well. Too bad lowest end model doesn’t come with the EP8 motor, but rather the E7000.

    Really nice bike and the prices aren’t too bad for what has become the insane e-bike norm (starts at £6899). I would like to see the alternative colour though. The purple is nice in the flesh, but I haven’t seen the Matt Copper colour yet.

    10500 quid for it, im thinking a cube 160 action team stereo hybrid and with the change a van as well.

      There are plenty of great value ebikes about. The Decoy Elite is another example. Full carbon frame, same suspension and carbon wheels but £4000 cheaper. But not everyone wants a Decoy or a Cube.

    Someone has been getting clever with their edits....love the bike cuts at the beginning. As for the bike, the colour is 'interesting' (at least it pops in pics), but the future is getting closer, if not protected by a rather hefty paywall (for the bike that is, not the awesome website). More importantly I need to ride these trails!

    Seen several reviews for the Bullit , no matter what the reviewers say and think of the bike in my opinion the hype simply doesn't justify the extortionate cost SC are pinning on this range. No need for it. I've been riding ebikes for just over two years now and have been lucky enough to have ridden a few brands , I believe there are quiet a few bikes currently on the market that match up spec wise to the Bullit but come in a good 4K less. However that said no doubt those lucky enough to earn big annual bonus's shall lap up everything about this bike. Sorry if this comes across a bit negatively but "the emperor is wearing no clothes" comes to mind.

      There are a lot of amazing eBikes out there that are just as good as the Bullit, we're not saying for a moment that there aren't but if you can afford the Santa Cruz then why not go for it?

    Ahhh your totally wrong re the e8000 and walk mode. It behaves the same way the ep8 does...or should I say the ep8 is the same as the 8000 was :)

    • @singletrack
      @singletrack  3 года назад

      That's not quite correct. The E8000 will work in any gear, but it's only really effective in the lower range so you do need to change gear to get the most from it. The EP8 was designed to fix this.

    For £6899 you get eagle nx drive train and e7000 motor. e7000 is like SLX for emtb. Very poor value for this price. Typical Santa Cruz, expensive with cheap componentry that is not at the level you would expect for the price.
