@@237311 Makes the chainstays shorter and the bike a bit nimbler, also a tad more durable and lighter for hard descents. Trade-off is more rolling resistance on the flats and a tad worse climbing performance as well. Full 29 is better for flat terrain imho, mullet can be better for hard descents.
Thanks Francis for the honest review. I really rely on your opinion than others. Hope to ride with ya soon with Ron and the crew. Take care brother ~ Roger
The EP8 is one of the quietest motors while under power, as soon as they fix the rattle I'll be seriously considering the EP8 system for my next eMTB. I like my eMTB quiet so right now Brose is my favorite but I'm also a Shimano fan. An EP8 motor with slight updates will probably last +10000 miles.
You very rarely see a review of the base model bikes from Santa Cruz which in reality is closer to what a lot of people can afford. They are still expensive and the componentry level is poor. In the case of the Bullit the base model costs $7500 USD for that you get Sram NX Eagle, Sram Guide RE Brakes, Rockshox zeb fork, and Shimano E7000 Motor. This is very poor value for money and the E7000 motor is a joke. Eagle NZ is also disappointing for this price.
Francis...come on.......the only mention of price is ‘it’s expensive’...?!! While I’m not gonna claim that this new ‘Bullit’ ain’t a solid ride...I’m sure it will hold its own against the competition...across its model range it’s certainly not worth the tariff. The entry-level model is immediately hamstrung with its bottom-shelf, old-tech 7000 motor, and the more $pendy builds have nothing you can’t get from any one of ten other excellent e-bikes for $3-5k less! Since I obviously haven’t had the opportunity to ride one, this next little bit is all conjecture in my part, but based on specs alone it’s kinda obvious that one of the best currently available bikes to compare the Bullit to is easily the YT Decoy ‘Shred’. Both have very similar frame styles, geometry & travel and are aimed at the same sort of rider...but the really wonderfully spec’d Decoy (all XT/Fox Performance suspension) sells for $6k! That price isn’t simply below what it would cost you for the entry-level Bullit...that Decoy build compares directly with the Bullit CC XT model that sell for $10 Grand!!! I might be wrong, but I’m not convinced Santa Cruz is gonna sell ‘a lot’ of these gold-plated mules, unless middle aged guys with lotsa cash can be easily convinced into dropping $10 Grand after watching a few extremely well-produced Bullit promotional videos showing pro riders kicking the living snot outta the damned thing......😂
This is typical Santa Cruz, the same applies across their whole model range. The cheaper models are still expensive and have low level componentry. Their marketing should say "With Santa Cruz you pay for it but you don't get what you pay for" They are no better than what other brands offer for $3 - $5 k less. The E 7000 motor option is a joke at the price they want for it. You would live in fear of getting the phone call, "Hello its yesteryear hear and we want our tech back" lol
Once you ride a Bosch, everything else feels last gen. Dead on arrival EP8. Hopefully, they are working on a firmware upgrade to get it on par with the Bosch.
Let's see...rattletrap, failure prone motor, over geared, over weight, short life drive train, and the top spec bike costs as much as a new KTM 450 motocross racer. Until this stuff is fixed, I'll be sticking with my '18 Nomad 4, and used KTM500, which came in at about the same money as this Emtb...for BOTH!
Can you run both wheels on 29?
Unfortunately not. Mullet only but can run a bigger tire back there. We'll try a few.
Ill wait for the 29er great reviews!!😀👍👍
@@MtbrVideos And whats the purpose of why 27 wheel is used on the rear?

Hi great review, when are you posting the shoot out between Bullet, Kenevo & Rail?
Thanks for the review Francis! #yourfriendinthebikebiz ! 👏
Whole Enchilada Bike right here.
How tall is the rider doing the review? THANKS!!
Hey, that's my stomping grounds. I live in the Los Paseos neighborhood. I was up on Rocky Ridge the other day too! :)
Great vid, nice review! Can’t wait for the comparison with the others, any hint on when will it happen?
What’s the rail like compared to the Santacruz? I’ve heard it’s a really great bike and you can mullet the Trek 9.8xt
Great video! Heavy bike.
I love it!
Reminds me of highway 17 and Lexington reservoir

I think you need "pretty darn good" stickers for your channel
Great product
If I may ask your height and the bike size you tested?
Keep up the good work!
Great video
Really appreciate that. We'll do many more in depth ones comparing it to the best bikes and going in-depth on this motor.
Would you go kenevo or Bullit?
SO SHWEEEETTT...much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO.[the music worldwide}
oooo cool..!!! soooo fun!
Man i wish i could get this with a bosch motor ... :( best looking bike out there imo, such a shame.

Pretty gross exaggeration IMHO
My brose motor annihilates the competition and hasnt given me any issues
@@HarryKuloh I have a 2020 Levo. Great torque down low and will climb like a goat on steeps but can't keep up with my Niner on long rides.

First Here, Nice One!
Yes you are! Legend!!
Sorry but if you buy the "cheap" almost 8000e be careful that it comes with the old Shimano engine from 3 or 4 years ago, be careful they rip you off
The 2017 E7000 motor normally comes on 2500-$3000 bikes...
😍
Talking about climbing performance on an ebike is so stupid, of course it climbs good! It’s got a motor!
Wow introduction from Santa Cruz guy with traffic background sound not cool
