I’m so glad i followed at the beginning of the pandemic, it’s awesome to see your confidence grow. Confidence has always been something i struggle with and no fully believing that I’m beautiful, even when random strangers will go out of their way to tell me i am. It’s definitely a tough journey

    • @CookiesPlay09
      @CookiesPlay09 11 месяцев назад +1

I agree that it is definitly a tough journey. Especially if you start and aren't yet used to get out of your comfort zone. It does get easier with time tho. I sometimes have moments where I take a second and realize how far I've actually come. For me it sometimes feels like that now I am at a point in life, that me a year ago wouldnt have believed to be generally possible. And I think those moments are beatiful, especially since I know it's only the beginning
Take care of yourself and enjoy the journey

Sometimes I feel like I'm confident, I feel pretty, handsome and powerful. But the moment the camera is in front of me, it just drops. That's what I'm learning to change. I'm learning to feel it first and so I can show it

Man, your story resonates with me so much because I just went through a divorce after a 10-year relationship. All my photos were either couple photos or group photos, but I have no selfies/pictures of myself so I just turned off social media. I don't even know how to take good pictures of myself so looking forward to learning from your channel! Everyone can really feel how much you care for your viewers :)))). Thanks for helping me feel inspired to one day take pictures by myself lol.

Take the pictures, you'll be glad you did. I'm only 29 and took many selfies as a teen. Not so many during my 20's even though I'm highly skilled in photoshop and 3d modeling, and can make myself look nice, I just don't.
Take the pictures. They'll be nice to look back on. Wish I had more memories of my 20's

What I take from that is that I need to start experimenting!
Also, in a past video you said that as a photographer, it is important to give positive affirmations to the one being photographed and this is extremely true. When it's my best friend who is taking the picture, I always end up looking good because I feel confident with her, while if it's my family taking the picture, I will always look awful. The difference is shocking!

Dear David, what I found attractive about you is your personality, that unique light that emanates through you and that you sprinkle through your craft and the interactions and work you do with other people, what you pour into their lives per se.
I believe that it is so important that we know ourselves, see the good in us, our strengths and weaknesses whilst building on our strengths... so we give our very best to ourselves and others ❤ THAT cannot be photographed, but it speaks through your persona and your work.
Much love to you from my heart to yours ❤❤

I'm a hobby photographer and when I do a session I use to take warm up photos to help people be aware of their expressions. After that I talk to them while hooting to help them relax. I keep taking photos until I manage to capture what I see in reality. The focal length plays a key roll as well. A good photographer can help you get good results in no time.

After finding you on tiktok a few years ago, I've started to finally grow more confident in not being the one behind the camera all the time. I only first started liking photos of myself when I realized I didn't have to smile everytime. Taking selfies, where I had "permission" not to smile - as opposed to a stranger or relative shouting "OK BIG SMILE NOW!" (whether I felt like it or not) - allowed me to feel more confident and comfortable with the camera. Like, I don't have just a singular emotion (forced happiness), so why can't I show a range of emotions in pictures? Or even just chill in pics? That realization didn't come about until I was older.
Plus I have a really unattractive smile, I'm just not blessed with good bone structure. A full smile makes my cheeks and jaw look huge (even though they aren't), which in turn literally makes me look 20 lbs heavier; my eyes look much smaller from the cheek fat pushing up; and my jaw is crooked so my smile is asymmetrical; and smiling pushes my nostrils upward, totally changing the shape of my nose into an unattractive arrow.
Smiling for all those damn school and family pictures just always left me feeling disappointed and unattractive. Like, I'll remember I looked really good at that event, everyone told me I looked slamming... then the pics come back and I looked awful. Which made me feel awful.
Now I just do a partial smile or a close lipped kinda smirk, or sometimes dont smile at all, and I feel so much better about my pics. Not to mention more fun posing.

as much as I understand how these tips can help boost confidence in the short term, I do find it somewhat short-sighted :/ In the end, you begin to rely on outside validation to feel good and it leads to the fakeness of social media we see today (basically everyone living behind the internet). If anything, I think the title of this video should be along the lines of "how to pose and look good in photos" rather than be "photogenic" since the definition of photogenic is looking good while being candid, NOT in a staged over-produced and labored photoshoot. If it was titled that, I think his advice makes a lot more sense

    • @mymusic11525

I look best in photos that someone takes secretly; without me knowing I was photographed at the moment. Then I look most natural and most attractive, not awkward ot strained. I like these photos the most, but I have just a few of them. I don’t like to take selfies and I don’t enjoy being photographed in general.
I wish I could bring this same nonchalant vibe into all photos of me, but I often feel a bit restricted when photographed. It’s because I immediately start to think about my posture, pose, face expression etc. and try to make it all good-looking purposefully. The thing is, I don’t need it. I am good-looking in real life without overthinking it too much; and I can see it clearly on photos which took me by surprise. 😂 Maybe I need to ask a friend or family to follow me during the day and take photos of me almost in paparazzi style. Maybe having more photos like that will convince my brain to let go and don’t try to “fix” anything.

My biggest problem is that I'm not comfortable in my skin. The idea that no one would be interested in me has been ingrained in my mind since childhood. The weird thing is I'm actually decent looking. But even being confident in my looks isn't enough to overcome my low self worth, because more than your looks it's whats inside that counts.
