Even the dog at the end was closely watching and learning
"learn to just like... Just like slay" 😆
"Just slay" is as elusive for me as the "be sexy" is for others lol. I'm like, trying to conjure SLAY but instead I get helpless and existential depression at the state of the world. So it's more like "siiiiiiiigh" than "slay" 😅
Cracked me up too 😂
I LOVE your focus on helping people feel good and safe in their own bodies and celebrating individuals. I am so happy one of your videos came across my feed because you share helpful info in such an engaging manner, and I get the sense that you genuinely care about people.
YOU DESERVE WAY MORE RECOGNITION THAN THIS ISTG-
What does ISTG mean?

This is the most useful and informed advice on posing I've seen. I particularly love that unlike most posing guides, the advice wasn't about looking prettier or thinner. It was about creating interesting images while bringing a more genuine expression of our mood or feeling. Thanks so much for sharing
ETA: Also, it seems every male photographer translates "sexy expression" for women as "squint your eyes and partially open your mouth." That's the Meagan Fox pose (that woman has her moutj open in so many photos I began to wonder if she had a condition that prevented her from fully closing her mouth). That right there is up there with the peace sign pose as the most overused. And it also frames female sexuality under the literal male gaze, instead of tapping into what makes that particular woman feel sexy. Like maybe one woman feels sexy when she feels strong, so showing a feeling of strength is going to bring that sexy out of her. I appreciate that you didnt use traditional or sexist ideas of posing "sexy."
You are the best, David! I’ve been modeling full time for four years and I still learn something new from you every single time I watch your videos. You are so talented. My dream is to shoot with you one day! ♥️
I successfully quit TikTok and Instagram. thanks for the video, it's super helpful! Posing for photos had always been a mystery through all my 18 years of life😅
You are my favorite "glow up" mentor online atm, it's so much easier to keep up the confidence, and connecting to the poses, especially in public speaking. I can absolutely see your fix and flow in your movements-you translate the form into emotion beautifully!
I'm neurospicy and this is really great spelling out. I have no conception of what my body looks like in space so it's a learning curve for sure. I like the focus on the feeling or movement - a photo is a point in a line of a story
That's a great way to express what a photo is: a point on a line
Neurospicy is a great term
@@mult1colouredi agree imma use it on myself.
LOL NEUROSPICY
I just want to say I love what you do when it comes to expressions. Yes, it might be more ideal to have a more specific guide- but lets be honest: when people (even successfully) mimic an expression and vibe, but don't fully mean or feel it, you can see it in their eyes. You can feel it.
*But* when people express what they genuinely feel, we are able to connect to them and even feel drawn to them- because it's REAL.
*What you do is go straight to the core of that person, and make them manifest what is real to them.*
THIS goes perfectly with what you do and and your brand because it genuinely brings out that person as an individual.
Another example: What I express as "feeling sexy" (to me) may be expressed completely differently by someone else. But when you get a good picture of us both doing it genuinely, you can tell what it is despite the differences.
You do that for people, and I think that's important in this obsessively "Self expressive" yet fake Insta culture on the internet where everyone feels the need to be someone else and yet "be themself".
Seriously, man. What you and your team does is *WAY* beyond impressive.
I'm poor as heck at the moment but I plan to work my butt off to one day get a photoshoot with you guys. I have a photoshoot planned since a year ago and I think you guys are the *perfect* people to make it come to life.
I also want to use it to let people to see what you do and let the positive effect ripple out.
*Keep it up my guy. You have all my support!*
P.S.
Me who doesn't (currently) use Insta or TikTok at the intro after "What are you doing on RUclips?": 👁👄👁💧💧💧
Haha I don’t have insta or Tiktok either. Good shit though my dude
@@akirakurusu9784 Well then hello there my fellow non-Insta-toker, and thanks man👌✨
I just wanted to say that I've been watching your videos for a few weeks now and they made me feel more confident and more comfortable with myself and in my body. I'm an overweight 5'3" girl and I've never quite known how to pose for photos or how to feel okay in my own skin. But your videos make me feel comforted and even inspire me. Thank you for that ❤
i’m very glad you’re on youtube, tiktok was murdering my mental health but i love having access to your videos. i appreciate that you speak to a beginner mindset, not assuming certain knowledge or experience. it makes it so approachable and helpful, thank u !
That's very helpful to someone who has one pose all these years. Thank you, David!
Hi David. I’ve been trying to get better at posing for a good while now and I’ve watched a lot of videos on how to achieve that. Yours is hands down the best and gives real tips instead of BE NATURAL or MAKE TRIANGLES!!! This is so basic (in a good way) and understandable, especially with the examples. And posing points - GODSEND. Now I will be making triangles AND sinuses. Not to mention your presence is so cool I actually want to listen to you. Great video!
I have been happier with the photos I took lately because of your advice. Thank you so much David!
Wow, you really are making us feel good about posing. You are so empathetic and clear in your description ❤
man i learnt more with you right here than months working as a model in the agency, got way more liberated and confident in such a shorter span time, it's like I've seen the light omg
Your advice feels like it opens up a whole new world on not just how to pose but also how to relate to your body and inner self.💖
Can't wait for videos on posing for family vacations! Not trying to "look amazing" but more like having fun with the family and kids that might not be posable! Also with family members of all ages!
Really loved the breakdown of 7 Posing Points. I’ll be dropping, pivoting and curving and tilting more spontaneously.
“we went from a stick of gum to an avocado woooow”🤣🤣
Loved this as a portrait painter too! Or just designing characters to paint. And yeah, to up my selfie game! lol. Thank you, David!
Thanks! This is really helpful. Not just for photos but general confidence and learning about proprioception for adults who pick up social dance (I teach). I am so excited to build this out into a few dance ideas, and to know what to do with my hands socially.
Thank you, this helped me make character poses look more natural
Thank you so much for this David. I'm going to challenge myself to create a new pose each day for a month to get comfortable with the 7 posing points. The best way to learn is to do! Thank you
This is the core essence of posing❤Thank you for teaching without hiding. Life saver!🎉
THAT IS REAL CONTENT ! I didn’t search for this channel but i m glad youtube bring it to me.
MAN this video makes me want to book a session with you; You seem like you'd be such a great photographer to have! I really like the concept of "think about how you're feeling first." I always feel like photos are about how I'm posed or how I look, but I can see how thinking about how I feel would really impact a shot. Thank you so much!!
I've liked, commented and subscribed because you asked and because you come across so natural. You asked us to be natural and you give us a great example of that authenticity. So many people try to copy what they think is "natural" because they see it work for other people. All that does is make everyone look and sound the same. The harder we try to find our true selves, the easier it is to express it on camera, and that's when people start to connect with us.
I just discovered your channel and already learned a lot ! I had lots of fun trying out what you explained and actually I am really surprised that it immediately improved my selfies sooo much! Thank you! I suddenly started enjoying taking photos hahah!
Thank you so much for the advices! I really love your mood and energy! Stay the way you are David. ~
I LOVE how this guy is giving me posing instructions ✨👌🏼❤!
Thank you, this is so helpful. As an actor, I am very comfortable acting in front of the camera because I get to pretend it’s not there. But as soon as it comes time to take new head shots, I tense up and become stiff and unnatural. I have been working on posing by myself for a few months and I find myself employing some of these techniques but seeing you break them down is very helpful. Also, I did a spit take when the puppy told you to be sexy. Fantastic
Pet the dog for us, please. Haha
I hope you will pop off on youtube too. The deep dive into the posing points really helped me to understand better. Well, worry no more about awkward poses. Thank you David
Beautifully explained. Applicable to just not feeling awkward generally. Thank you!!
Love this video! Thank you!!
Love this!! You've actually made this fun❤
Thanks a lot David! Super useful tips and clearly put! I wish I had this recommenced to me before my last work photoshoot :')
Always love your humour and energy!
15:36 look at that doggo listening so carefully 😭
I love this! I just learned I have been posing like a stick of gum. I so so hate taking office photos and here I go needing to submit a new photo! I will try the the avocado and everything else you've got to teach me. 🎉
Amazing video-literally 2 of my best photos ever were 1 where i was leaning on my hand, one where i was kinda messing about - i totally get what you're saying!
This video is AMAZING!!! Thank you SO MUCH. ❤❤❤ I can't wait to practice these tips!
RUclips audience is happy to learn from the most cute&professional photographer. Hugs from Germany❤
Thanks so much I'll definitely use this to practice posing for my next shoot!!
David, i love your energy. Those posing videos help so much and make me want to take photos, especially since i shoot a lot with people who aren’t professional models. Only thing i‘d like to add would be to shoot with some music, because this can really help getting comfortable and sets a mood which makes it easy to come up with expressions :)
So... I have no intention of posing myself anywhere BUT this is golden for character art. This - being channel.
David! This was spectacular and is a better version of how I walk my clients through posing. I’ll be sending them this to watch before every shoot! Thank you brother
Such a great video, thank you! I can definitely see how this would blend into dance and movement
Thank you so much, David! I have never seen posing explained so well. I'm a fashion model working in Paris, and I'm often asked by my friend to "teach them" how to pose, and I never know what to tell them! This really helps. Sometimes ago I was invited by Coco Rocha to follow her online class on posing and I admit I did feel like the posing explanation didn't make much sense because it lacked this coherence of 7 posing points! Not saying she's not great at teaching posing, Coco has nothing to prove, it's probably due to the short time we have in the online class to cover so many topics.
A few weeks ago I had a photographer (and he was a pro not one of these creepy guys with camera) tell me "be sexy" "be sensual" and you're depiction of a reaction was my exact reaction! Despite all my years of experience modeling I just froze and felt as unsexy as ever! Thank you for bringing that up, David!
Also... how come you're so gorgeous? Like seriously you're a model ;) Thank you for the awesome and such caring content you bring out in this world!
This is actually super good advice for posing characters for art as well
Best posing tutorial that I’ve yet to see. Thank you for your solicited advice 😊
Boyyyyy you helped me get some gorgeous pictures
This is a really good video for someone like you who just started with modeling. Thanks you very much
Thank you David. Muchly appreciate 😊
Move and flow! Love being in the flow!
I freaking love David, this is the absolute best example & demo of posing
I love the way you teach David I love it fr
I LOVE this!!!! Thank you so very much!
Man, you are so charismatic! I love your approach to this! It all looks so natural! Thank you for sharing!
One of the best videos on posing...you made it seem like natural body movements vs. Frozen statues
LOL your advice is always solicited!
This is very helpful, David! Could you also please do a tutorial on the best way to take a photo with a pet? 😁
Edit: The dog seem to be listening intently ❤❤❤
Amazing tips! Thanks David!
I love youuuu so much, your content is so much fun, informative and refreshing ! Bless you, you beautiful ray of sunshine ❤😭
as a dancer, posing has always come naturally to me but seeing it outlined like this, i feel like i understand my body much more :3
It's amazing, thank you.

Best video about how to pose! Thank youu ❤
this is arguably the best tutorial video i've viewed on posing. thanks!
AWESOME vid!! THANK U so much!!😘😘
A-MA-ZING
Thank you so much for all that knowledge
Mate, you're born to teach people. Well done!
Wow. Thank you! I need this for my client/models
Amazing video! I wish I had seen it before I was photographed a few months ago. I'm not used to being photographed and I'm also a shy person, so I simply didn't know what to do with my own body in front of the camera. The photographer kept telling me to be natural but in the end, I look like the example of what not to do in 90% of my photos.
So helpful! Thank you.
Thank U for this video, i made a transition from interior and archutecture photography to portrait and posing someone is still a challenge form me, but thanks to you i know i'm going i na right direction and with how to make People feel rather than simply pose to show a truth about them. Posing tips were also very helpful :)
Thanks a lot for the tips it really helps
Thx a lot for the good content. I'll put into practice your recommendations❤
David, you are a wonderful photographer and teacher.
Love the videos ! Those mistakes are so common, I'll try to avoid them as much as I can 😍
