- The University Of Sao Paulo is the largest Public University in Brazil. It's also one of the best Universities in Latin America. In this video, I ventured to the university, but unfortunately it was later on in the day so I couldn't experience it with the students there.
A Universidade de São Paulo é a maior Universidade Pública do Brasil. É também uma das melhores universidades da América Latina. Neste vídeo, aventurei-me na universidade, mas infelizmente era mais tarde, então não pude experimentar com os alunos de lá.

At USP there is a lake where they teach rowing, they call it "raia olímpica da USP". It's been a long time since I took a rowing class at USP's sports wing, but it was definitely worth it. When back to school it's worth going to this part of the campus if you have a rowing class taking place at the time.
That sounds interesting, i'll check it out once the vacation is over
Wow, that's my university! So cool to see you there!
It's a really nice university, i want to visit again when everything is open back up
Brazil is now on summer vacations, thats why there's no much people walking around the university. Classes may start around February
I'll visit again once the vacation is over. Hopefully i can enroll in a Portuguese class
Some types of restaurants open only at lunch and dinner times in Brazil, outside these hours the demand for customers is not so great to justify the restaurant being open and without customers. There are some others that only open at night like most pizzerias, but there are restaurants that are open all day, mainly in malls. Other places that are always open are snack bars, bakeries and fast food restaurants.
Thanks for the info. It takes some getting used to for me but it makes sense
Great videos! Before leaving Brazil, you gotta try pastel, coxinha, torresmo, caldo de cana, Brazilian hot dog, tapioca, go to a Brazilian stake house, among other interesting Brazilian food.
Thanks for the tips! I tried a few of those but ill try the others as well. The steakhouses are the best!
1- that is a churrascaria, not just a "all you can eat", they will serve you meats of all types non stop, so the price is totally worthy and you deffo should go to one of those before leaving!
2- no, nothing closes in são paulo due the rain!
3- its schools vacations in brazil, they are closed!
4- you should check the local holidays before going!
5- you go out too late and thats when it rains, if you want to enjoy the day with no rain in our summer must do it early cuz it rains almost every day in the end of the afternoon!
6- Universidade of São Paulo is way too wide to go walking, its a gigantic campus!
Perfect 👍🏻
I'll definitely try the churrascaria. I ate at a Korean barbeque last week. I didn't know about the vacation lol that explains alot. I'll start going out earlier for now on
@@MarsellisTravels no bro, i am talking about brazilian churrasco, its the most typical food after feijoada, cannot leave without going to a "churrascaria rodízio" and you will wanna go to a good one not just a random one ... its an experience, not just food!
There are others public universities in Brazil as well. Inside the state of São Paulo you can also try for UNESP, UNICAMP, UNIFESP, UFSCAR...
I'll look into those as well
ITA and IME also
About tuition: there is none. USP and all public universities in Brazil are free, you just have to go through their test (it's called fuvest, it's probably not that different from what you call "SAT" in the us? Not sure that's the name).
Some courses are harder than others to get in but nothing is ever charged for enrolling or watching classes (though you might have to buy books, there is always cheaper printed scans available).
There might be third party courses being taught within the university and those might be paid but they are not really USP courses per se.
correction: you do pay to make the test, unless you prove low income, then it's free as well.
Would I be able to enroll in a Portuguese class as a foreigner? and would that test to be approved be in English for me?
@@MarsellisTravels actually yes, there is a Basic course for portuguese in USP for students and researchers only. The negative part comes with becoming a student, it is very hard to enroll, specially because the exam is not applied in english. It is possible to enroll via diplomatic courtesy and you can study being an exchange student, both are very difficult and the exam is near impossible for someone who is not a speaker.
HAHAHAHAHA I told you about this kind of summer rain in other videos.
That's our normal weather for january and february. It's a bit annoying at times but after the rain, when the sun comes out, the sky usually looks beautiful.
yea i remember lol. It's annoying but at least it only rains for like 30 minutes at a time
24:09 there is Pico do Jaraguá, one of the most request3d places
Thanks for the suggestion, i went there 2 days ago. I'll have the video out soon
@@MarsellisTravels Good to know, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I hope you were lucky enough to have gone on a sunny day to enjoy it better, this rainy weather should end in 1 month.
Is this university website link available here i cant seem to access it online
University of São Paulo (USP) is a public university. In Brazil it's free to study in this kind of institution.
Would it be free for me as a foreigner to take a Portuguese class there?
@@MarsellisTravels its free for everyone, including foreigners
The University of São Paulo is a public school.
There are no charges for taking courses there.
Thats good to know, I want to take a português class
In the US, public universities charge their students. They're cheaper then the private ones, but they aren't for free.
We are in Summer break, students come back after Carnival (may vary +/-week depending on year calendar)!!!!
I wish i knew before lol. it was nice to see the university though
@@MarsellisTravels Application to USP is made through a SAT ("vestibular"). It is a very competitive admission with a huge candidate/opportunity ratio. USP is very interesting because it is a public University (totally free!) and main high specialized Institutions forming It. From STEM, Biology, Medicine, Botanics, Economics, Geography, History, and Languages. I would not consider CUSP a guarantee of safety and It may vary on who you share this kind of apartment.
Amo sp ❤
So just you know, everyone is allowed to watch classes in there. On the humanities FFLCH college in that campus, every professor I had would welcome anyone who wanted to watch their classes and participate in them, even those who weren't enrolled. It is considered part of the being a public university spirit.
If you come back eventually when classes are in session and wish to watch any class, you totally can!
I think only courses like medicine are less welcoming and mainly on particular classes were there are limited necessary material.
Thanks for the info. Next time ill watch some of the classes and hopefully get enrolled for Portuguese classes if they have those for English speakers
Bom demais
Lindo sp ❤
São Paulo 🎉
Beautiful ❤
There is vacation between december and febrary
I'll be back when the vacation is over
Na proxima venha a fortaleza ceara ,otimas praia lugar lindo
Man, you need to try chicken heart in one of these barbecue places.
I know it sounds awful but unfortunatelly it tastes very good!
It sounds gross lol. I think i may have tried it unknowingly at a barbeque before

Depending on the day of the week not all gates are open.
That is my area. You were close to my place.
That restaurant you ate at is in a small favela that was built on old train tracks
The first entrance was definitely closed. the restaurant was delicious especially for the price. I didn't notice it was a Favela
@@MarsellisTravels probably because of the space it occupies. the rail in in between large industrial lots so it's narrow but long. Check it out on Maps sattelite view/google Earth.
USP ❤
Lindo
arent they in their summer break right now?
Yes, they are
I didn't know That's why it was empty lol 😂
@@MarsellisTravels lol. yea everything is the exact opposite from us in the U.S. Thats my biggest reason for wanting to go to São Paulo next year. I want to spend Christmas somewhere where it is in the middle of summer. it was -15° F on christmas day in Kentucky this year.
Brazil tmb pode ser um dos melhores países para se morar 😊
boy, you must be very hungry, how you down all those in, boy! that food must really be tasty
The food is delicious in brazil
São Paulo muito lindo

Rice and Fries are way too starch.
You are trying to show us around, but you constantly have your face in the video covering what you are trying to show us. I don't why so many people keep doing this annoying and dumb thing, we saw nothing but your face, SMH
Thanks for the feedback i appreciate it.
