2017 Ford Ranger Wildtrak - unstoppable day and night? | Music Motors Ep: 15

  • The 2017 Ford Ranger is without a doubt one of the most insanely capable machines I’ve ever driven. With a 3.2 diesel engine, 6-speed box and ample onboard tech to keep even a 10 year old happy - have Ford made the new Ranger even better than ever before? In the Wildtrak spec, it's definitely in my books as an amazing truck.

    Ford Ranger doesn't have Locking Diffs all round, just the rear and its not a V6 either, it's a Straight 5.

    Two things... Just say no to "skinny jeans" and NEVER use low range on dry tarmac. It can cause significant damage to your truck as there is no CV in the transfer case. Thus, no slip. Since the front and rear will spin slightly different, binding will occur then, SNAP!

    this is so weird.i just discovered your videos 20 minutes ago.I was researching 1 litre Honda Civics and also Ford Rangers (weird combo i know but I have narrowed the search down to those too)and strangely enough you reviewed those exact 2 models.then i discover we both play variations of the Fender Jazz bass professionally.anyway thank you for your bassists take on both vehicles.now i must just choose(bound to be the Civic)

      The Civic is a brilliant gigging car. As shown in the video, the Jazz fits in the boot length ways - a rare ability!

      Decent for a commercial. Amarok and X-Class have superior systems, but they’re based on commercial and passenger technology. As commercials go - this is top notch.

  • @stevecope4149
    @stevecope4149 6 лет назад +3

    The other thing on the MPG you have quoted.....
    You say between 38 and 35 MPG. That's between 8 and 7.4 l/100Km. The best factory rating for these is 9l/100Km (31 MPG) and in reality - every owner I know and mine as well, get 11.5l/100Km or 25 MPG. I don't know how your test one delivered such economy beyond even the most conservative factory numbers - and WAY better than owners experience.....can you confirm your numbers are correct?

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  6 лет назад

      +Steve Cope Tank to tank - 35mpg on a run (250 miles) with no weight loaded on, driven at 60mph. The higher number would’ve been proven had I not got stuck in traffic.
      If you drive sensibly, it returns good fuel economy - my figures are roughly what Ford UK claim it can achieve, and it’s the only vehicle I’ve ever tested to do that.

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  6 лет назад

      +Steve Cope in addition. UK gallon is different to USA gallon - so might be a muddle up there?

    • @stevecope4149
      @stevecope4149 6 лет назад

      No - no muddle up there, I use imperial gallons (Australia). If your's get that economy at 60MPH, you'd better let the factory so they could claim it. Their global sales pitch number is 9l/100K's or 31MPG. Believe me, if they could claim a better number - they would. Reality is between 25 to 29MPG. Yours is an anomaly, I can assure you.

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  6 лет назад

      Steve Cope UK spec list PDF says 39mpg extra urban, 33.6 combined. Spoken to multiple 2.2 and 3.2 owners during the loan who have all said theirs were very close to Ford figures. Local dealer also confirmed theirs to turn around just below claimed figures.

    • @stevecope4149
      @stevecope4149 6 лет назад

      Amazing. No-one here gets better than 9l/100Ks or 31MPG here unladen at cruise highway speeds. Economy goes south from there. Is yours the Ad Blue model?
