Woooooooooooooo.......Gary Wright gave us some of the dreamiest, cosmic music of our time. Such an excellent choice and, not to take away from "Dream Weaver," this is such an underrated song. Thank you for choosing it!!!!!!!! ❤❤
A song that spent 3 weeks at #2 and sold over a million copies is not underrated. It's on my list of the 100 greatest recordings of the 70s. It eclipsed the success of "Dream Weaver" as well.
In the Tidewater VA area it was Dream Weaver that was played most on the radio. We all had to get the album and the whole album was great. The radios only played what the agents and record companies would push.
I cannot begin to tell you how good he was in concert❤️🔥 I saw him in concert with Peter Frampton on Frampton’s Come Alive tour in 1976. Both were 🔥 and tickets were $6! ❤
This was really cool when we first heard it and it has kept its cool all these years -- and we probably did wear some bell-bottoms back then, I don't think I ever did, but disco people did!
One of the first songs I remember ever hearing in the 70s that had true sub bass… might’ve been an accident because the studio engineers were recording full spectrum but either way they caught the below 40hz magic Magic. Thanks as always for the great reactions!!!
Actually, the Hard Rock singing style of "Love Is Alive" is actually more of what Gary Wright was used to doing, because - believe it or not - Gary got his start as co-keyboardist and co-lead singer of the _British_ Hard Rock band Spooky Tooth in 1968 (keep in mind Gary Wright was an American guy from New Jersey, so this was highly unusual at the time), and was in the band until 1973. Definitely check-out their 1969 sophomore album *Spooky Two,* especially the excellent album opener "Waitin' For The Wind" and "Better By You, Better Than Me" (both famously and infamously covered 9 years later by Judas Priest on their amazing *Stained Class* album in 1978). While we're on the subject of love being alive, also check-out "Love Alive" by Heart. You both will absolutely LOVE that song!!
I was 7 years old when this song was released. If I'm remembering correctly, Dream Weaver got more airplay on the radio than this song. It's interesting that it's the opposite now on Apple music.
Gary Wright brought real notice to pop synth music; apart from the drums, everything on this song is an electric keyboard/synth. Yes, others did this before him but his two hit songs from Dream Weaver were cosmic synth wonders! Glad you guys enjoyed these.
Me and my best friend in junior high had just enough money together to buy one 45 at the record store. We bought this one. Great reaction guys. This song is Gold!
Gary Wright has the dreamy stuff along with all kinds of rocking tunes. When he was with Spooky Tooth he was more bluesy. The Mirror by Spooky Tooth which Gary sings on has the Dream Weaver vibe.
If you want something more like 'Dream Weaver', check out Gary's "Made to Love You". For some funkier Gary, check out "I Can't Find the Judge!" Both are extremely satisfying tracks from his debut album.
Absolutely LOVE this groove! So, apparently, did 3rd Bass. Check out Wordz of Wizdom. They took that opening groove and ran with it. Both tunes are incredible.
Enjoyed your reaction and review on this. Could see Ryan was all into this song. Great song. Thank you again for letting us enjoy these songs with you.
Joe Cocker also did a cover of this song and had a smaller hit with it. As great as he is, Gary version is still better. But surprisingly, Joan Osborne also did a cover of it, and I think her version is actually the best! Can find it on the soundtrack album for the film, One Night At McCool's, with Liv Tyler.
"Dream Weaver" always got all the love, but "Love Is Alive" is Wright's best tune by far.
"Sounds like bell bottoms"...best description, ever.
76 was a killer year for rock and roll. This is a true banger.
Steve Porcarro of Toto played synthesizers and keys on this tour as a young man.
It was so great being a teenager in this era, we had such creative and eclectic music playing all the time. Never bored!
OMG Yes!
This another Gem...
Isn't it funny how something like a song can bring back some of the most complex memories.
That is so true. I am transported back to a 1970s candy store where they sold transparent water pistols, comics, and gum. Such a vibe.
I know exactly what you mean!
One of the best songs of the ‘70s
The best base of all time
I have always loved this song and it is highly underrated. Excellent choice.
Oh my I forgot he did this song! Such a different sound.
This song peaked at #2 on Billboard Hot 100, same as Dream Weaver.
I was in 7th grade when this song came out. We actually had a juke box at the school that we could blast during lunch. This song played everyday.

Gary Wright...whoooo hooooo!!!!! 🎉 70s Baby!!!!❤
R.I.P. Gary.
Have you guys checked out any tunes by "The Baby's"? One of their top hits, "Isn't It Time" is a cool musical ride. Enjoyed this reaction thank you
Summer of '76!
Nick and Ryan, omg, you guys have the best taste in music...brings tears to my eyes 💙💙
PURE FIRE 🔥
I forgot about this song. Thanks for the reminder.
Listen to Spooky Tooth, a band Gary Wright sang lead vocals during the late 60’s and early 70’s.
Ryan is the best music reactor! Somebody start a channel judging these channels please and the best reactions! Ryan for the win!😍🏆😍
Gary Wright, the second concert I ever went to. I remember the super duper skin tight red satin pants more than anything else 😂
Love love this one-
jr. high school escapism
This is in my top 5 favorite songs.
This was really cool when we first heard it and it has kept its cool all these years -- and we probably did wear some bell-bottoms back then, I don't think I ever did, but disco people did!
WOW!!!! ❤YES!!!
More funky, less dreamy, still satisfying.
Wright is alright!!! Learned from him because my sister was in love with him!!!YUK!!!!😂😂😂❤❤❤
Heard this song, but didn't know he sung it. Not a bad song. Like an actor or actress who can play different roles and you believe they are them.
Of course you've done Children Of The Sun and Rock On.
Neither COTS nor Rock On were done by Gary Wright lol.
Speaking of Gary's songs that sound more natural for him,, DEFINITELY wait on your vote until AFTER hearing "Really Want To Know You"
Which was used in the movie 9 1/2 Weeks with Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke.
He was even more rockin' when he was with Spooky Tooth.
This whole album is way funky! Next- I Can't Find the Judge
Yeah, that tune is just as nasty
Thank you for mentioning this song bc it’s amazing
It's funk on quaaludes. This was all over AM radio in the summer of '76.
Reminds me of the roller rink days.
"...... And this is .......... Nick" (The look on Nick's face) 🤣🤣🤗🤗
One of the first songs I remember ever hearing in the 70s that had true sub bass… might’ve been an accident because the studio engineers were recording full spectrum but either way they caught the below 40hz magic Magic.
Thanks as always for the great reactions!!!
the bass line is fantastic
Gary had some great classics,, But my personal favorite is Gary Wright "Really Want To Know You" 🔥❤️🔥
This is my favorite song of his. The bass line is killer on this and Weaver.

While we're on the subject of love being alive, also check-out "Love Alive" by Heart. You both will absolutely LOVE that song!!
I like Dream Weaver for nostalgia reasons but it definitely sounds like a 70's song. Love is Alive is a timeless tune that is more innovative.
This entire album is gold. Not a bad song on it. Classic perfection.
Gary's follow-up album, The Light Of Smiles was a masterpiece.
I was 7 years old when this song was released. If I'm remembering correctly, Dream Weaver got more airplay on the radio than this song. It's interesting that it's the opposite now on Apple music.
Finally!
The keyboards was killer on this track.
We used to dance at 7th grade school dances to this when it came out. I feel old !!!
You have to do "I Can't Find A Judge"..off the same album. It's another Banger!!
Great selection, he was very popular in the 70's, my two favorites; Dreamweaver and Love is Alive.
RIP. Saw Gary perform this song live a few years ago. His vocals were just as great live as they were on the recording.
This was 1st song that I danced to at the Jr. High School dance!
Gary Wright brought real notice to pop synth music; apart from the drums, everything on this song is an electric keyboard/synth. Yes, others did this before him but his two hit songs from Dream Weaver were cosmic synth wonders! Glad you guys enjoyed these.
Singing every lyric with him! 😍 The bass is 🔥
This the first time I have seen Ty high/drunk on air.
That song was shorter than I remember. I'd like to see you react to Possum Kingdom by The Toadies.
Nice reaction! Hope you try some Bob Seger!🤘🔥
I'm definitely down for that!
Power of Love.
Oh yes! Dreamer Weaver was good, but this is great too. This is on my top 100 for sure.
Don't know how many times I've cranked the intro...sweet
Great selection guys! This song is total fire 🔥🔥🔥
Wow...it occurred to me that every time I heard this waaay back then...I was so stoned.
So much better than DreamWeaver. Thx for reminding me.
Sure takes me back to high school days ❤😊
Strong choice
You guys should listen to Water Sign by Gary. It’s one of my favorite songs!! 😀
love it when it breaks down
My 1st Dance in Jr high School 7th grade was to this song Gary is good yay, awesome jam, good review 👏😎👌🎤🎸
he was with a band called Spooky Tooth before he went solo, they have some really good songs also, thanks for the vid.. :)
Me and my best friend in junior high had just enough money together to buy one 45 at the record store. We bought this one. Great reaction guys. This song is Gold!
❤one of my all time favorites, thank you for covering this ❤
Excellent choice!
Gary Wright has the dreamy stuff along with all kinds of rocking tunes. When he was with Spooky Tooth he was more bluesy. The Mirror by Spooky Tooth which Gary sings on has the Dream Weaver vibe.
You need to see concert footage of him doing this live.
If you want something more like 'Dream Weaver', check out Gary's "Made to Love You". For some funkier Gary, check out "I Can't Find the Judge!" Both are extremely satisfying tracks from his debut album.
I won this album on a radio station trivia contest. I had to stump the DJ. "What was Captain Kirk's middle name?"
I used to call on a physician assistant named Gary Wright! I always sang this to him. Better than Dream Weaver.
His original band was called Spooky Tooth, worth a listen.
Check out "Touch and Gone" from 1977, a song we used to dance to back in the day! "Are You Weepin'" is another good groove! Good times, great music...
Absolutely LOVE this groove! So, apparently, did 3rd Bass. Check out Wordz of Wizdom. They took that opening groove and ran with it. Both tunes are incredible.
A lot of memories with this song.
Good song. Gary Wright’s best song IMHO is I really wanna know you from 1981! Now that song has so much feeling
Wow Gary I love his voice take me back wow
Love the bass in this one.
Enjoyed your reaction and review on this. Could see Ryan was all into this song. Great song. Thank you again for letting us enjoy these songs with you.
Oooo love this song 💙💙💙
brilliant
Both songs were great. ❤
Blind Feeling - Can't Find The Judge - Much Higher, are other greats from this album.
So funky, love it. ❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In the early 90s Joe Cocker did an amazing version of this song as well. Worth a listen!!!
You have to check out Joe Cocker's version of this. It totally Rocks!
To me this song and Dream Weaver tapped into the disco vibe. Great songs.
Luv this song
In my mind this is Peter Frampton for some reason.
Vary Wright 👍🏻
Try, "Let It Out", "Made To Love You" and "Feel For Me", off of the same album and you will see that everything you both said is confirmed.
