This is a cooling vest from www.square1gear.... It's the best thing that can happen on a hot day. A motor pumps water through the vest which is kept cool via an ice pack.
how long until the cooling effect diminishes? what is the battery life? wondering if this would be practical for job-site use 10 or 12hrs a day if you packed an extra little lunchbox with a few ice packs to swap.

If you live in a dry climate, you could investigate evaporative cooling vests. Those are fairly cheap. If you don't, then you could investigate phase change cooling vests.
