  • There are 8 main Nurse Practitioner specialties that you can choose from before starting your nurse practitioner education. In this video, we'll be discussing the different nurse practitioner specialties, what the difference is, and what the nurse practitioner job role will be with that specific NP certification. It's not all about what's the most paid nurse practitioner specialty. After watching, hopefully you'll know which nurse practitioner specialty is best for you.
    Personally, I am an FNP, which offers great flexibility. However, many people have trouble choosing FNP vs ACNP, and it all depends on what you want to do in the future.

      I am about to finish my NP school some school will provide you options and offers that you can either accept or decline. Also you can personally call clinics, urgent cares, family practice offices (speak with manager) ask peers if they know someone like an NP or a MD, is not as hard as you think it is. It can be very stressful but 100% of the student are able to find a preceptors. I currently attend to GCU.

    Loved this video!! Can you give more examples on types of specialty clinics FNPs can work in? For example, I was interested in maybe doing something within the pediatric respiratory realm in an outpatient clinic. I don’t really have an interest in working in urgent care clinics, will I have a hard time getting a job if I go the FNP route?

      Adult and Geriatric Practitioner? or Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner?
      For either: The answer is: "Yes!" But this would involve intensive training in principles of psychiatry and psych meds-to be within the one's "scope of practice"-and usually within the [direct review and discussion of a psychiatrist-and within the frequent discussion of the current treatment plans-with a psychiatrist.

    Have you ever considered the PA route? What made you choose NP over PA?

    • @WillKellyNP
      @WillKellyNP  3 года назад +3

      I honestly didn't consider it before starting nursing school, and NP was always my end goal. If I wasn't already a nurse and then wanted to become an APP, I would definitely consider PA!

    • @alialqhtany7826
      @alialqhtany7826 6 месяцев назад

      Nurses have higher training than PA. To become a nurse practitioner, you must complete your bachelor’s degree, obtain your license, and work for two years. After that, you can enter the program, which depends on the specialty. Becoming a nurse practitioner takes from 8 to 11 years, while becoming a physician assistant does not exceed 5 years. Therefore, I chose my dream and the best.

    Whats the difference to an doctor then? In Germany this is not allowed

    • @ticks4ticks4
      @ticks4ticks4 2 года назад +1

      Yes; in many countries other than the U.S.A.- a "Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)"- or even an "advance practice nurses"-are not qualified or trained to do such work. The advantages of an "NP"-and/or:
      " PA"-in the U.S.A.-include: ability to schedule patient appointment slots at a clinic when doctors have busy schedules.

    • @alialqhtany7826

      @@ticks4ticks4 this not true NPs has a special procedure and is not like a doctor. If he/she was like a doctor, he would not have been relied upon.

    • @alialqhtany7826
      @alialqhtany7826 6 месяцев назад +2

      It improves the doctor's work by making him focus on complex cases and completes the medical role. Therefore, NPs are very important for the health of patients and complete the role that the doctor or registered nurse did not achieve.
