This video saved me $500!! The mechanic told me all my locks would need to be replaced but I watched this video and took out the fuse replaced it and boom!! All my locks now work thank you!!
I have no words to thank you enough. Front door would not unlock and the all other doors would not lock. Replaced fuse 57 and it worked!!!! Finally one informative and to the point video.
Thanks so much. Fixed. Getting 57 out required a lot of gymnastics (of course, I couldn't open the front passenger door to make access a bit easier), some swearing and sweating. I certainly didn't find it as easy as you did! But that and the battery disconnect worked and I'm up and running again. Though I think I left the battery disconnected a bit too long and had to reset the clock. Thanks a mill my friend.
Thank you so much. I was about to pay a bmw dealer to basically replace a fuse for 328 bucks 😭😭😭. I never knew a fuse going out would stop the doors and fuel tank from opening. Thank you so much
Many thanks. Had a total failure of all door & truck locks plus ABS warning, No air con, and no speedo all at once. Tried the fuses but all were ok, reset the logic and it fixed everything. Thanks again.
Just a thought...before undoing the battery as shown at the end......pop in you key in the ignition socket....start the car....leave for 10 seconds....then switch engine off....get out of car and use the key fob to lock the car...if this doesnt work..then undo battery etc as shown in video...hope this helps you guys...
After a whole day at the mechanic they couldn't figure out the issue with my central locking however, this video combined with this piece of advice and 5mins later, I fixed it myself! Thank goodness for the RUclips community.
Thank you so so much I just went to a mechanic shop they told its the actuators and it wasn’t it’s the fuses guys don’t listen mechanics thank you so much I really appreciate it they told me that they will charge $200 for each door just to find the problem I’m so thankful thank you so much again!
Wow! Thanks so much! I was expecting to go to a expensive garage to fix it, but followed your fantastic description, and now it works like a charm! A million thanks :D:D
Clear, concise and VERY effective - thank you for posting this.. it worked like a charm. Apart from when I dropped the fuse extraction tool into the void under the fuse panel 😬
Thank you!!!! Your video worked like a charm. My drivers side door would not unlock. While the other doors would not lock😳. After watching your video and reading a few articles. My husband took your advice and replaced fuse 57. This instantly resolved the problem. Thank you sooo much for this video😊.
Thanks, from México. IT worked didnt had to remove, battery nor start the car. Changed the fuse that was broken in visible way, tried the key and IT worked just fine. Thanks a lot.
Thank you very much for the video...In my car driver side was not automatically unlocked and other 3 doors were not automatically locked.......Just replacing fuse 57 solved the problem even without resetting the battery.. The video is very helpful and saved me from couple of trips to garage..
This video is spot on. Cheers man, saved a lot of time and money. Same issue, fuse #56 and didn't work immediately after replacing had to disconnect the battery also. Thanks for the info!
Absolute Hero! Been looking to sort this for a while now but haven't had time to do it, found your video & spent 5 minutes with it & problem fixed! Thanks for the clear video :)
Thank you so much. Just ran through the steps. Worked flawlessly! My difficulty was I could not open the passenger door. Had to contort my body from the driver side. Also removed and reinserted the battery terminal connect caused a little spark.
Thabks a million bud !! Your video saved us +500$ . Watched and went out to follow your steps at 3 am with -15 temp outside !! We were pumped to see the result!! You are awesome !!
Thank you a million times. My front doors got locked and the rear doors were open so the only way to enter to the car was from the back seat. My metallic key is not working so I need to check that as well but at least I can open it with the remote control. You're awesome
Hi there, This also worked for me , but it's not easy to reach the fuses. for my 320 it was a other fuse number but they are located on the sam location of the ones in the movie. I had to replace both of the fuses to make it work. Before i removed the fuses i went to my BMW dealer to ask them to have a look , they checked my key and they responded that in my key the error was that one of my locks should be replaced but they only could say wich lock after they did a full computer check of the car . but i had to make an appointment to do the check. I had mentioned that i thought that it might be a fuse but they told me that it was a lock or something else but no fuse. I'm very happy that i checked it myself otherwise i had to pay 250 euros minimum to fix the problem and now i was completely carefree for under 2 euros !
Thank you!, it worked great, as in your case, replacing the fuse was not enough, but I started and stop the engine instead of disconnecting the battery and that was enough to make it work.
Thank you so much just bought myself an BMW with the doors not working. This worked perfectly and saved me money due to previous owner not knowing how to fix cars and just sold it cheap to me because she didn't know how to fix car.
Thank you so much from old Europe!!! Your tutorial made me able to solve the problem, exactly as you made, even the system reset disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds. It was a bit tricky because there's few room for hands, light, legs and so on, but I did it!! Very helpful!
Good video! my 325i only has manual key unlock on driver's door. I guess they were too cheap to do the same for other doors. I need to be a contoursionist to reach the fuses from driver's seat. Very frustrating and this is the 3rd time I'm doing this. Your video is very helpful! thanks. John G
Hi John, that Video saved my Day! I have no clue how or what the 29 thumbs down did, but this Video is so amazing as you described everything really easy to understand. I have been around so many BMW Dealers the last Days and none of them had an idea - ridiculous. Great work, wish much more like you would do a HOW TO, great Tutorial again
John, thank you for the instructional video. I did exactly what you have shown in the video and it works for my 2006 330i. Thank you. Much appreciated.
As with all the other comments, I would like to say THANK YOU! Everything from the spare fuse to the disconnecting the battery before it would work, you were spot on and saved me time and money!
I came here to say thanks and that I was going to try your fix. Then I found that I'd commented already, two years ago, when I plainly had the same problem. I didn't even remember! I must be getting old. I AM getting old. OK; so I'm about to go try it again. I only hope I still have a spare 15A fuse...
The same happened to me. I was not able to open the front doors, the rear doors were open and for some reason my metallic key is not opening the driver's door. It gave me a heart attack
I have to say thank you so much I'm glad people like you put these videos up because I love DIY for one but, I also love my BMW baby! I definitely just spent a a good $1,200 and total for a recent alternator and battery replacement as well as new ball joints and front thrust bushings smh!! But just to know that my door locks not opening only contributed to a blown fuse!? which I thought of but I also thought to go to a mechanic silly me! Thank you. I fixed it in less than a minute!
Thank you so much!!!! I was worried this was going to cost me a few hundred dollars but it only took me 10 minutes and i have absolutely no knowledge on cars , couldnt have done it without your help
Same shit with me, my key fob can start the car, the key can turn the door key hole but won’t open either way. Probably the lock on the door itself is bad too.
Thank you for the video! My car keeps blowing this fuse in a few days after replacing it. In my case, when I replace it, I don't need to disconnect the battery, it works fine, but it last a few days.. Only rear left stays locked with the fuse replaced. Can it be the reason for the fuse to keep blowing?
Very helpful thank you I have one question though. At one point in the video you talk about a manual that you read that told you specifically what number fuse you need to change. Do you have anyway to link that information so we can see the manual that you looked at to figure out what exact number fuse you need to change? My front Driver side door will not open from the inside or outside. The locks unlock and lock fine but only the driver side door won’t open when pulling on the handle. So I’m trying to figure out which fuse I need to change for that. My fuse map looks just like yours.
My to doors to the left(driver side and rear passenger) unlock and lock but both doors on the right side do not lock or unlock with the remote ? Will this fix it ??
fantastic video , I have 325i 2006 model can you please tell me what fuses belong to the instrument cluster lights - I replaced the fuse 57 , and then LL the lights in the dashboards went dead . Any help !
Thanks for viewing and I'm Glad it helped you. Please understand that I'm not an expert on this, I only get my information from reading forums and viewing RUclips videos by others. Having said that, you may try looking into fuse 02.
Hi, great video! I have an e91 2006 and the key fob stopped opening the doors. I bought a new key at the dealer and it doesn’t work either. The central locking system works fine, but manually. The dealer wants to do a full diagnostic on this and hinted that it could need an antenna. That’s hundreds of dollars. Could I just need this resetting or the diversity amplifier? Do you Know which fuse number to replace for door lock actuators with remotes? My door lock actuators work fine, just not responding to the remote. It does not have comfort access.
Jonathan Reed I am sorry that I have no other info to offer other than what I stated in the video. I have come to that by checking out BMW forums and many other websites before trying it on my car which fortunately worked so I documented it. If it doesn't work for others there could be many factors at work which I will not be in the position to comment on.
Out of all the videos on this issue on YT, this was the best and the most clear explanation, Thanks
I replaced 57fuse and nothing. Thanks to your video I disconected the battery and now the lock works as it should. Thanks.
Thank you so much. I was about to pay a bmw dealer to basically replace a fuse for 328 bucks 😭😭😭. I never knew a fuse going out would stop the doors and fuel tank from opening. Thank you so much
Thank you - replaced fuse and nothing - then did the negative off for 10s: Worked perfect, Appreciate it.
Great fix 57 is for driver's door and 58 for the rest of the car. 5 minutes. Much appreciated
Many thanks. Had a total failure of all door & truck locks plus ABS warning, No air con, and no speedo all at once. Tried the fuses but all were ok, reset the logic and it fixed everything. Thanks again.

Thanks very much, worked a treat! Although how you managed to get that fuse out while holding a torch is beyond me!
Just done this, literally 15mins. Thank you very much for this video.
