  • Join Dan as he chats with Lorri Haines, entrepreneur and family man from Essex. Lorri is the CEO of mental health and well-being app ‘Shoorah’ which launched in 2023 and has run multiple successful business ventures since he was a teenager. Lorri also stars in an ITV show with his fiancée; Ferne McCann: My Family & Me.
Lorri Haines delves into his past, growing up with an alcoholic mother, who went through many partners. This resulted in lots of different male figures in Lorri’s life; all of whom were drinkers and led to Lorri being neglected emotionally. After facing trauma from an early age, Lorri has become very focused on both mental and physical health, constantly working on himself, so he can be the best version for his family. Lorri is also an ambassador for alcohol charity Nacoa UK, helping others who have been affected by their parents drinking.

My friend who is a recovered addict, when she first started her journey she slept a lot at the beginning. She loved sleep. She was in bed at 9 and up at 7. It was like the sleep was healing her. Never underestimate sleep. Empty your stress bucket.

If you are getting up at 5am what time are you getting into bed? I think the getting into bed is the hardest part rather than waking up. More talk on this would be hugely appreciated!

Wee bit heavy on the bro science here in this clip. But I think that as long as you are sober and getting your solid 8 hours sleep every night, whether you wake up at 4am or 8am don’t matter one bit. What matters is the amount of the sleep and also that it is part of a regular routine I.e, same go to sleep and waking time every day for weeks in a row so that your body gets used to the rhythm.
But what I can say for sure is that for me personally quality sleep is probs the most important thing in my life for maintaining good mood and wellbeing. If you have a great nights sleep then life is just a heck of a lot easier.

But what about Friday and Saturday nights when you feel you’ve “earned” the right to stay up late (if only at home) and have a drink ? I struggle massively with this.

You have to change the way you look at alcohol, currently you see it as a treat you deserve after working hard. Its poison that could potentially fuck all your hard work.

Get some activities for the mornings at the weekend. Do fun stuff during the day. Honestly, nothing good happens at night. You sit on your arse and eat shite and drink.

Fri and Sat are 2 additional days in the week. They are just words. What difference does it make if you took away the names of the days and allow discipline to move your life forward in a positive direction. Rationalizing bad behavior is not smart ;)
