      @@nn-yi4xn Sure, you can and that nonsense saying, "You can't teach it" is drivel. If the player has never got round to working it out for themselves, you tell them to focus on finding space (close to goal), when / how to accelerate in bursts and then you have them wellying a ball against a wall / into an empty net (with a wall behind) until their confidence picks up. Of course, a pro should by now know the basics but with Nunez and Diaz I'm not sure they do.
      Finishing should be the easiest thing in the world, when the ball falls to you in the box and 1-on-1s with the keeper are not that much harder, so long as you're onside (VAR changed that rule from level with the last defender being onside to its current state) fast enough and relaxed enough.
      If a team's losing a match, struggling in the league and a player's going through a bad patch, sure, he'll more likely continue to struggle than not. But that's the same for every striker. Practise makes perfect, playing week-in, week-out, helps immensely and then you've got work on the confidence / self-belief of the player.

    Worse for Liverpool was the ridiculous Atalanta EL tie. First leg was a disaster, second saw Liverpool score inside 7 minutes and then spend the rest of the match passing back to Alisson. Sure, playing to win could have added to player-fatigue (more so if it had gone to ET), but a great comeback would have galvanised the team. And seen players scoring. They followed it up with the embarrassing game at home to Palace and now tonight they were once more toothless. I love Klopp to bits but he couldn't have gotten the Atalanta tie more wrong, imho.

    You would know what Rooney and Sturridge are actually talking about cause they were out and out strikers themselves, especially Rooney but to have Carragher to say "can you actually though" is like saying that you can't keep improving on cycling a bike when actually you can. Its the same thing, you keep practising on your skill but its all about the mindset and Nunez for me hasn't really been improving on his finishing when I seen him missing setters, easy chances, time after time and he's been doing that even way before Klopp announced he was leaving.
    The question is, is Darwin Nunes actually cutting it to be a Liverpool striker? For me? He's not. He ain't no Owens, Fowler, Torres or Suarez. And this is coming from an United fan.
    You want you're strikers to score goals and the only way to do that is to keep practicing and have that mindset.

This team wasn’t supposed to challenge for the league this season it was more about this being a transition then next season go for the title again but we forced ourselves to push this season cus klopp was leaving and we wanted it for him

  • @joecroft4274

    Sturridge is right. Not enough players spend time putting themselves into game scenarios. You see the training and they’re doing a lot of 5 a side games to allow everyone to keep their fitness and get equal time on the ball but without putting yourself on match pace you’re never gonna get accustomed to those opportunities. I think it would do Liverpool a world of good to have regular full size matches during training. 11 a side full games where they play for 30-45 minutes per session and you treat it like it’s a real game. Obviously you be more lenient with contact and avoid going into risky tackles but you still go as if you’re trying to win a match. Maybe getting Nunez in that position where he’s one on one with the keeper at match pace will improve his confidence and allow him to experiment.

    To be honest, I think Salah has been found out without Bobby and Mane. He's largely a stat padder and rarely scores clutch goals. And he has always, from day one, been awful with ball control, touch, retention, etc.

    • @shazanali692
      @shazanali692 13 дней назад +6

      Erm he was always part of that team. It takes 3 to tango. The two new guys just cannot connect with him, Diaz hardly passes to him. Salah could have had 20 assist this season if all the players around him put it in the net. So all this is being found out is bs.

    when Klopp came in he instilled passion and hard work into the squad.
    Klopp announced he was leaving due to being tired and the squad has seemed lethargic all season, conceding lots of goals early and having to fight back. it must be hard motivating a team when you're already halfway out the door yourself and too tired to continue.

    as someone who played football, although no where near the level of premier league, my friends and i practised a lot. finishing, crosses, i was a winger. we practised a lot and for our level, we did what we needed better than others. but it's practise. sure some guys are naturally better, but you'll get better from your own level if you practise.

    asking the wrong question...yes all strikers can improve finishing but will Nunez improve enough in matches to make a difference...probably not. Suarez and Drogba needed 1 year...if you want to win stuff you can't wait longer. Depends if Liverpool just want to be top 4 or actually win something big -- for that they need to gamble on someone else.
