What it is is she's learned how to adjust the ratio of chest voice and head voice when mixing to reach those high notes. As she's gotten older, she's definitely learned how to mix based on how high the notes is and added a lot to her arsenal especially in terms of agility and dynamics which gave us a lot of interesting sounds that always keep us coming back for more.
Taeyeon is my pride. When my friends make jokes about kpop i will show them either SNSD or Taeyeon live concert performance. That will shut them up 🤣🤣🤣. No one can deny how talented they are. And she gradually changed her vocal style. I honestly miss her chesty voice and deep vibrato she used in her debut era. But it's hard to hit high note while dancing, and she seemed to have difficulty singing sustainably using her chest voice. I understand her. She has developed a severe case of rhinitis and sings with a nasal voice, as you can tell from Rain's clips from when she was 28. As she said in one interview, she now uses her voice flexibly, and at a fan meeting in Korea two years ago she actually sang in the chesty voice she used in her debut era.
