I am excited to launch my most recent eDesign, Alpha-Blocks! A collection of 25* blocks depicting the Alphabet. This is a fun quirky design to challenge your appliqué skills, fabric painting and free-motion quilting.
In this video I will show you how to paint and quilt your Armadillo block, how to use Lumiere and Opulence fabric paints, as well as free-motion quilting styles, including a beginners lesson on spirals.
These are not your typical Alphabet blocks, they all have the Godden sense of humour. A is for armadillo with avocado; U is for unicorn riding a unicycle holding umbrellas; R is for rhinoceros reading a book under a rainbow and M is for moose enjoying a martini served by a meerkat! All ages will enjoy these unusual unexpected designs and enjoy the alpha-fun details. Using my Alpha-Blocks eDesigns, create a fun quilt to keep you cosy and warm. Use a single letter block design for a pocket on a child’s bag or use the letters of their name to create a bunting for their room. The possibilities are endless.
*You might be wondering how I squeezed 25 letters into 25 blocks? Well as quilters we like square numbers, so X makes a guest appearance with W!

Just brilliant Helen
That is adorable. 💗😊💗
Helen, you should come up with your own fabric line, I'm sure many people would buy it and it would be absolutely gorgeous !!
I would absolutely do that. I have no problem designing. A fabric company would have to approach me.
Perfect timing. Thanks Helen , I was looking for a project to make for my Grand sons first birthday next month. Perfect.

hola espero que estes muy bien, te felicito por compartir tus talentos , me gustaria llegar a aprender a hacer estos super trabajos . las pinturas y lapices que usas son especiales para telas, soy de costa rica y no se si los venden aqui muchas gracias
Hi Helin, come to my house in Texas. We have one that cruises around our house every night. “A” is so cute.
Hi, I'm a new subscriber to your videos...What is a Panda Pencil and what type of Paint are you using on Fabric???
Thats gorgeous. When painting with those wonderful paints, are you using a medium or a fixative, or do they just paint onto the fabric with no additives or fabric fixatives please. Also do you dilute them or paint straight from the jar? Thanks for this great tutorial Helen
No dilute. No fixative. No medium required. I use these paints and teach with these paints for years.
@@HelenGoddenQuilts That's absolutely fantastic. I love straight forward, no mess products. Thanks for the prompt reply
I have all of my supplies now. THANKS HELEN!!! I am now wondering if I create each block and quilt them individually what would be the best way to put the quilt together?
Hi Safarichey, I would use a Quilt-as-you-go approach for this one. Painting and free-motion quilting each block (one layer of batting, no backing), trimming them all to the same size, adding sashings and then backing the whole quilt. I then ditch stitch the major elements to bring it altogether. And if you haven't already, please consider subscribing to 'Helen Godden Quilts' here on RUclips for more painting and quilting videos!
I've seen armadillos while trucking through Texas with my hubby, unfortunately they had become road kill, so sad....
oooooo nooooo
Will that micro quilting foot fit any machine?
No The micro foot is a specific Handi Quilter design.
Hi, you are using a word that I am not familiar with. I think it is due to me not being an artist. I am hearing “panda pencil”. I don’t know if you are saying pen and pencil or if you are saying a brand name.
Thank you
It is panda pencil. Used by quilters for drawing and tracing on black fabric. They are my product and available here. helengodden.com/product/panda-marking-pencil/
@@HelenGoddenQuilts Thank you! Your work is beautiful.
