For those saying that his form is shit, I'll remind you that looks aren't everything. he's about 6'5 and in his 60's now he's not going to be as fit and coordinated as a young man. He can still hit like a train though even at his age. All things considered he's still pretty active and can still kick ass.
that's because his style of karate is for full contact. They don't pull back their punches and kicks in kyokushin karate. The swedish karate team in this video do sport karate. Not fighting karate. Big difference between the two

Agreed. He had those sleepy dead eyes of a man without hope, the drawling, gravelly voice of someone who's had all emotion within him strangled to death. In short, the scariest kind of killer. He would have been brilliant in the newer Punisher movies.
hamster in the machine The first appearance of the Punisher was in Spider man in the year 1974, Dolph was born 1957 so maybe he is actually to young (74 he was 17). And take a look at the new Wolverine Trailer and explain me what is" too old" in a movie plot today.
Short translation: I suspect dolph is there to talk about his book and wants to be serious but is tricked into wearing a gi and showing karate moves instead. He handles the situation well by having the two youngsters he just met, show what they do best instead of trying to make him self look good.
I studied kyokushin many years ago and when I saw the kata, I recognised it immediately! He still remembers it and his form and technique is actually good. The fact he isn't bothered or putting that much emphasis since he isn't in class or in a test is showing he knows his stuff very well.
Seems like a good choice to me. I know he’s smart and excelled in academics but he was also a competitive fighter, had the look, learned a new skill in acting and still got to choreograph fights. I don’t care how old he is he’d take most of you all down and fast.
Lundgren was a great fighter even back in the late seventies. He participated at least once in Tokyo in the World Knockdown Championship. That is full contact karate. In those days all fighters had to break boards (tamashiwari) before being allowed to fight. Lundgren holds a 3. dan in Kyokushin Karate, and is adressed Sensei.
He is demonstrating something for ppl never seen or interested in this after he had a period of drugs and alcohol abuse and now is in his 60s. If you have ever seen a teacher show new students some of the elements he is going to teach you ll have seen very slow moving already. So, your criticizm falls flat. And btw.: i m no fan. I dont like him as an actor, found the old videos of his tournaments not that convincing and have no position towards him as a person as i dont know him. And yet i dont think you should talk down to someone with that many titles and that ability shown.
Impressive guy.. He has a Masters Degree in Chemical engineering, multi-lingual, black belt(s) in Karate, male model and actor/superstar!! Oh..and he's also Ivan Drago!!
You can tell when he throws the punches that's not even 5% of his power...why Sly ended up in the hospital and Carl Weathers refused to reshoot some scenes because he hit too hard for real. Legit! Dude is worth around $14 million I believe so he definitely made the right choice to leave the Chemical Engineering field.

Even thou i live in Finland and Swedish are our neighbours its still strange to hear Dolph speak swenska. You are just so used to hear him speak english in the movies.
If you see this video today, he told in recent interviews that he went through some heavy shit all his live. He said he was doing drugs, girls, wasn't healthy and often an asshole and a bad father. The only sign for this, is his heavy breathing after a few moves...but you wouldn't have thought that. So, don't judge a book by the cover, also not if it's pretty and shiny. Respect to him, that he changed his life.
I am just imagining Dolph accidentally hitting that guy, and while he is laying on the ground bleeding, Dolph just looks into the camera and says "If he dies, he dies".....
My very first Kyokushin lesson in 1983, the owner of the dojo (Saiko Shihan Shigeru Oyama) had Sensei Hans (he changed his name to Dolph when he started acting) give me a private lesson to get me introduced to the art. I remember thinking, “who the hell is this guy!!!”. He is a VERY large dude. He was super nice. Very patient and gave excellent instructions.

Sylvester Stallone asked Dolph to go all in during shooting Rocky IV to shoot as good scenes as possible. Sylvester ended up at hospital with heart problems and admited later that it was a huge mistake. 🤕
So he speaks Swedish, English and Spanish fluently along with some German, French, Japanese and Italian, he's a multiple championship winning Kyokushin Black Belt, and has a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. As he once famously quipped about Rocky, "He's not a man. He's a piece of iron."
This was actually really cool to see him come out and do some demonstration he's been out of the game for a very long time still awfully limber doesn't have the stamina like he used to but he's not competing anymore.
Even tho I cant understand what they are saying, you can see dolph knows what hes talking about, yes hes maybe not as smooth flexible or quick as the other 2 younger people, however he is a large man carrying decent weight plus hes getting up in age.
