For those saying that his form is shit, I'll remind you that looks aren't everything. he's about 6'5 and in his 60's now he's not going to be as fit and coordinated as a young man. He can still hit like a train though even at his age. All things considered he's still pretty active and can still kick ass.

@jonny enchanto wongs Escrima is mostly ceremonial and not very practical if you ask me.
If people would behave like they do in escrima in any open hand style they would be ridiculed but because there not alot of other knife styles public, people are easily wowed.
I'll teach you how to fight with a knife right here and now, it's real simple. Just 3 little words:
      JAB, GRAB & STAB!
anyways the other styles you mentioned I agree 100 percent

Short translation: I suspect dolph is there to talk about his book and wants to be serious but is tricked into wearing a gi and showing karate moves instead. He handles the situation well by having the two youngsters he just met, show what they do best instead of trying to make him self look good.

I studied kyokushin many years ago and when I saw the kata, I recognised it immediately! He still remembers it and his form and technique is actually good. The fact he isn't bothered or putting that much emphasis since he isn't in class or in a test is showing he knows his stuff very well.

Lundgren was a great fighter even back in the late seventies. He participated at least once in Tokyo in the World Knockdown Championship. That is full contact karate. In those days all fighters had to break boards (tamashiwari) before being allowed to fight.

      So, your criticizm falls flat.
And btw.: i m no fan. I dont like him as an actor, found the old videos of his tournaments not that convincing and have no position towards him as a person as i dont know him. And yet i dont think you should talk down to someone with that many titles and that ability shown.

At the age of 17, and then he left for Hollywood. A great story about the difference between JCVD and Dolph is on Scott Adkins' youTube channel where they were filming Universal Soldier. JCVD kicked a gun out of Dolph's hands twice, very hard. Dolph said if you do that again, I'm going to knock you out. JCVD didn't do it again. That's the point.

He was at first complaining (jokingly) about how some friends had tricked him back into a 'gi' costume, to make this appearance.
And how that was embarrassing, since he supposedly isnt an active katateka anymore.
But mentioned gratitude for being in the company of younger practitioners, who still represent karate.
Then he mentioned how the 3 of them come from different styles of karate. Kyokushin (Dolph), Goju Ryu (the girl), Shotokan (the boy).
Then some basic description of karate in general. And then some explanation of the techniques they were demonstrating... and complimenting the show host on her form. 😄

The complaints about his form are a bit unfair. The girl practices Goju Ryu and for her this is Gekisai Dai Ichi (and she does a fantastic job). Dolph practices Kyokushin and for him this is Gekisai Dai, which he does. They are very similar but have slight differences, which is why he looks so off in comparison to her.

Dolph bascially says, first of all, that they had no time at all to prepare and he complained a bit to the production team about this. But he talks a bit about Karate, and says there are different styles, He shows some basic moves with the girl, since her style has some common moves to his style. Then he sparrs a little with the guy who practice karate for points, and Dolphs explains that he's into full contact karate, and let the other guy hit him for real a bit and then hit a little back.
