Thank you so much for watching my 3rd video I've uploaded this week rebooting the channel after a long break. This USB fan is one of my favorite cheap gadgets that really help's me out and I'm glad I could share it with you. I hope you're enjoying the new content and you get a chance to come to watch me LIVE on Twitch during the week with the link in video description or come hang out on Discord. If you have any questions about the fans just ask them below or research them with the link also in the video description.
Sorry brother I'm not a patron but I've followed you for quite a while. Seeing that you're doing good and your family is happy makes me happy. Live well buddy 😊
I have the desktop version of these, they are great. I used to work in a call center and they were perfect because they never picked up on the phone. The desktop ones have a variable speed dial too. Well worth the money.
So, a guy on Amazon says that these fans use ~0.9 watt-hours of juice. Given that the Razer Blade Pro has a 70 Wh battery, assuming nothing else is drawing power, it can run the fan for ~77.7 hours. So, not quite years, but still a decently long time.
had one of those since like 2014 or 15, no noticable degration over time and the bending part is as stiff as ever (ladys). i used them to cool my room, they get a good airflow in a room if placed stategigly (one of those). its not as quiet as a regular pc fan, but more quiet than any other usb fan i ever had, they are made by arctic and u can hear and feel that. at the moment i plug it in my mainboard whenever i load into a game to cool the back of my gfx card. i think they take 300ma, my powerbank with 20000mah ran it 34-38h. my 85yo grandma bought one and a powerbank when i showed it to her, and in the summer she takes it everywhere she goes.
According to amazon.de's product page: 5 V (USB standard voltage) * 0.2 A = 1 W. The 30 Ah battery back has capacity of 450 Wh (5 V output). So, the fan would last 450 hours under optimal conditions and the smaller one could power the fan for about 25 hours. It's probably a little less than 450 or 25 hours, due to losses in voltage conversion etc. (18650 cells have nominal voltage of 3.6 V and max. about 4 to 4.2 V)
Thank you for this so much. I have a four year old gaming laptop that I need to have a desk fan blowing over to keep cool and I think this would be perfect to keep it cool since I’ve got an extra USB port on the side.
Alright, the Razer Blade Pro has either a 70 or 99 Wh battery. An Amazon reviewer measured the current used as around 170 mA at 5 V, which totals to 0,85 W. Say we have an efficiency of 90% for the buck converter in the laptop, this gives us a 63 or 89,1 Wh of effective capacity at 5 V. That means that, depending on the model and given that the fan would be the only thing run by the laptop, you could expect about 74 or 105 hours of continuous fan-running off the Blade.
For the 30 000 mAh battery: they are rated at the nominal voltage of 3,7 V giving a total maximum capacity of 111 Wh. Say, again, we have a 90% efficiency in the boost converter, we have an effective capacity of 99,9 Wh, giving us an estimated runtime of about 117 and a half hours.
The Fan runs on 5V .2A so 1Watt. The Razer Blade Pro has either a 70Wh or 99 Wh battery Depending on the configuration of the laptop and battery health, it can run for 3-4 days

Got one of these after this video as my laptops keyboard gets extremely hot when running intense games, now it not only stays cool, but actually cold to the touch, much better than typing with sweaty hands on a hot keyboard. Edit: also the fans are just as quiet as you said they are, I had fans like this before that made noise so I figured I knew it had to make more noise than you made them out to, but no, these are totally silent, so much so that it is almost absurd.
Love the video Jerry this is the kind of reviews I want to see thanks and awesome job on the weight loss keep it up you can do it 40 pounds is a lot of weight

Give or take a 30k mAh should keep it running about 6-10 days. This is dependent strongly on the efficiency and age of the battery pack, the power leakage of pack and fan and the resistance of the wiring used on the fan and battery pack. The fan tech sheet says it runs on 0.2 amps but that is the rating of just motor. My calculations are based on the efficiency of the best and worst power pack I have data sheets on. On a brand new pack with high efficiency it could be as high as 45 days but that would be a marginal case. It is safe to say an average of 6-10 days non-stop.
Assuming you have the top model Razer blade pro, with a 99Wh battery and the fan drawing 0.2 A @ 5 V, it will last 99 hours (4.1 days). Not quite a month, but pretty long
dude so awesome to see you losing weight and making videos I struggle with depression and a lot of things and I used to love seeing you and Jay do your long-form videos together just rediscovered your channel super cool that you're doing so great!
I have one of these and they're great. Using it through a USB power meter, it uses around 1 Watt, so whatever the W/h rating, that many hours. For that particular laptop, it has a 99Wh battery, so 99 hours. It does fluctuate randomly from 1W to 2W (on my meter) very briefly, but for simplicity sake, lets say 1W/h for this fan.
According to producer specification, fan consumes 200 mA per hour. This means, 10000mAh power bank will theoretically power it about 50 hour. In real life i will count with 45hours.
Thanks for the advice! I'm now trying to evolve my goldfish evolve to breathe air by keeping it out of water incrementally longer periods. I'm starting to run low on funds, and goldfish arn't that expensive but they stubbornly refuse to evolve.
I've had a couple of these for about a year and I do enjoy using them for cooling down after a walk to the office in the summer sun, or drying off things I've cleaned. I don't know if I got a bad batch, or what. But these fans are NOT silent. Whatsoever. They're pretty quiet relative to a fan, but on and off is noticable enough to encourage me to never run one 24/7. If I have one plugged into a wall, I can hear the motor running on the other side of the wall. I can hear it on the other side of a room. I just wanted to post this as a warning to anyone buying them expecting them to be *literally* silent from farther than a few inches like Jerry made it seem. Edit: So apparently I already made a comment on this video about them when I originally bought them. Oops.
I use them for the same reason :) Except I use generic versions that cost like $1 each. Maybe they wont last as long as the Arctic branded version and their arms aren't as good quality.
I mean, 10 bucks is not THAT cheap, specailly since you can get similar products for like 2 bucks. HOWEVER, these seem to be of very high quality, so it's probably wortth it. I'd also advice people who want one for silently cool your face in your desk or booth to check boothjunkie's video on a usb fan (a more stationary one) that's dead silent for the amount of wind it blows, great for streamers or in general audio sensitive situations.
@Cristian I just want to share my humble opinion just as an information. $10 is not that cheap? It's definitely more expensive outside of the U.S. Life in the U.S. is so easy and U.S. citizens are still complaining about the prices. Try to buy something in other countries as a citizen of that countries - you will be surprised. The ratio of the purchasing power of earned money to the price of goods is most favorable in the U.S.
@Barnacules Nerdgasm : Some quick dirty math on how long the fan would last on that Razer Blade Pro (as I can't quickly see any replies that have taken a crack): Thankfully someone on Amazon had measured the draw of the fan when plugged into their computer; It draws 168.5mA @ 5.12V. The Razer Pro has a 70.5 Wh (watt hour) battery, by presuming that we are just looking at the draw for the fan we can convert that to Ah using the formula (Wh)/(V) =(Ah) (70.5Wh/5.12V=13.77Ah). Now its as simple as dividing the Ah by the Amps (168.5mA = .1685A) 13.77Ah/.1685A=81.72h. This is taking in presumptions that there is no other power draw with the lid closed (and I ain't goin that far down this rabbit hole). So I would estimate somewhere round 72hours would be a good bet. TLDR: ~72hrs (3 Days)
I find this review very helpful. Thank you. i repair led tv's and I can tell you that HEAT is the culprit. Tons of blown caps. So this will help a lot of people.
Assuming each of those fans draw the advertised 0.2 amps, it'll (theoretically) take 75 hours for two of those to drain down that big battery pack, and 25 hours for the tiny battery on one fan, may have to subtract a few hours from power conversion losses.
Honestly, I gotta skip through the video just to get to the useful Information. I skip his box openings because he uses it so fucking much. Its Extremely annoying. sucks when he's the only person reviewing a certain product I want.
Been using these for the back of my LED TVs for years, good to know im not the only one who thought it was a good cooling solution, cant rate them highly enough
Careful to not spin it backwards, as most don't have reverse current protection and you can take out one or more ports. Common issue with the portable ones that plug into phones.
Aaron Somers this is fantastic info! Maybe it would be a cool experiment to hook it to a multimeter and wind it up. If it generates current perhaps I could swap the positive and negative and use it to charge a phone with a leaf blower 😉
@@Barnacules also, in thinking about it, simply holding the fan in place should be the issue, as it will attempt to pull current that the port can not supply. So the backwards spinning may not actually be valid.
Congrats on the weight lost Jerry, looking good! , nice to see u bk in here making video.Edit: if you like those fans so much , Contact the distributor and sell them on your site.
To save the boring math and reading, POWER BANK = 7.4 days and LAPTOP = 3.4 days (if my math is correct) On the amazon page, one of the questions someone asked was how much power do the fans use. Some responded saying they measured about 168.5 mah which I assume for the power bank being a 30,000 mah bank, 30,000/168.5 = 178 hours or 7.4 days. As for the Razer Laptop, it has a 70wh battery. Using an online calculator and seeing from the amazon post that it draws 5.02v, that is about 13944 mah or 13944/168.5 =82.8 hours or 3.4 days. That calculation doesn't seem to add up in my opinion. I would assume the laptop would have a much larger battery then the power bank. So if I did everything correctly, 7.4 days with the power bank and 3.4 days with the laptop.
i been afk from youtube for a while but i see this video i get 5 mins into it and i hear 40 + pounds lost ? hell yea man thats awesome i know u were struggling for a long time with it so happy to hear that man made my night to hear that good for you
Hi Jerry! Glad to see a reboot of videos...Got an idea for your USB fans...someone may have commented before me...not sure...but how about 3D printing a fan guard for those fans so no one get hurts? O_o
@@Barnacules The sky is the limit! I have been *"farting around on Fusion 360"* to model up useful things that can be 3D printed. Like a wireless mini stand for my iPhone and iWatch. I'm NOT going to pay $100s for something I can 3D print myself and add my own creativity.
Going by the rated draw of 0.2 amps at 5v from the fan and given the razer blade pro has a 99wh battery at 11.4 volts, In a perfect world it should run for 98ish hours if nothing else is drawing power. Realistically with the rest of the system and inefficiencies in the voltage regulation I would guess significantly less time. 18-20 hours would be my guess .
I actually bought two of theses because of one of your video talking about them and put them on my modem and router. I use to have an issue where my internet would just randomly drop and would require me to restart my whole network, I stuck a USB extension to my router and plugged a fan into it to cool my modem, then stuck another fan in to cool my router things are great. tempted to get more to cool my consoles seeing they could probably use all the extra help they can get.
This one won't die on you, it has an amazing track record. I don't bullshit in my videos, all of my fans have been going for over a year and the ones in the networking closet get up to 80f in that room consistently.

Welcome back Jerry! Good to see you back in my feed. Hope all is well for you and the family
Man your power bill must be crazy!
Barnacules glad to have you back bud.
oh that's so bloody smart my router used to overheat in the attic but i used a 12v plug with my fans could have bought those
Glad you're back! That wallpaper is awesome! Hoping you could provide a link to it. Thanks
Congrats on the amazing weight loss mate!
I use AC Infinity fans and they are amazing, you can even buy a thermostat control that will turn the fans on when it reaches a certain temp.
Congrats on the weight lost Jerry, looking good! , nice to see u bk in here making video.Edit: if you like those fans so much , Contact the distributor and sell them on your site.
My main man Jerry is back! Keep up the great work man. All the best!
When he squealed at 10:52 he scared the shit out of my cat
I wish I hadn't seen this because now I want to buy one for every use case that pops in my head.
To save the boring math and reading, POWER BANK = 7.4 days and LAPTOP = 3.4 days (if my math is correct)
On the amazon page, one of the questions someone asked was how much power do the fans use.
The power bank is over 100Wh
Yo, this is hilarious. Good change from the past format and glad to see you're feeling healthy! Keep it going man
dude u could be a bad ass sales rep
i been afk from youtube for a while but i see this video i get 5 mins into it and i hear 40 + pounds lost ? hell yea man thats awesome i know u were struggling for a long time with it so happy to hear that man made my night to hear that good for you
Hi Jerry! Glad to see a reboot of videos...Got an idea for your USB fans...someone may have commented before me...not sure...but how about 3D printing a fan guard for those fans so no one get hurts? O_o
Todd Chevrier I love this idea! I bet I could make something that form fit to the cover on the back or possibly even clipped onto the stem 🤔
Todd Chevrier my 3D printer is running right now. Check my Instagram @barnacules
its great to have you back here on youtube.
I use to have an issue where my internet would just randomly drop and would require me to restart my whole network, I stuck a USB extension to my router and plugged a fan into it to cool my modem, then stuck another fan in to cool my router things are great. tempted to get more to cool my consoles seeing they could probably use all the extra help they can get.
the fan consumes 5v 0.2A (1Wh), Razer Blade Pro says it has a battery that outputs 99Wh, so, with full battery can run it for 99 hours
There we go, thank you! #HeartedComment
@@Barnacules you're awesme btw, and the power bank with a battery of 30000mAh can run it for 150 hours
I use similar fans for my 3d printer, to cool one motor that was overheating. No fancy solution but it works and it was cheap
Oh my God I'm so interested in this $10 fan. I keep buying small fans and they keep dying two weeks later.
This one won't die on you, it has an amazing track record. I don't bullshit in my videos, all of my fans have been going for over a year and the ones in the networking closet get up to 80f in that room consistently.
Looking good man!!! Glad to see you back on the RUclips.
Jerry: *hits blunt* what if I upload within the same year?
Audience: wtf
Wyatt Faught people seem surprised I’m still alive.
Good to have you back man
Thanks Barnacules. Another great video from a great human being!
Barnacules Fans: "can you review something we can afford?"
Barnacules: "im gonna review this $10 fan"
Barnacules Fans: (am I a joke to you?)
Glad to see you back man. I like the inexpensive product reviews.
Waiting for Linus to use these as case fans... which would be awesome btw.
Just bought 3 of these....great idea for my router! Thanks man!
in alaska they would be probably worth, because they could help move the warm air from stove :D
Buying these for theme parks! I've got a solar power pack so it could run forever lol. Thanks Jerry!
I use one of these to blow air over my motherboard VRMs 😅
Overheating is the Devil!
Good to see you back man, god bless you and your family.
