I was stationed at SHAW during this Superbowl. The lead pilot, (Scobee) was in the 78FS as I recall. When we would go over to the Fighter Sq for work, it later dawned on me that it was his DAD that died on the Shuttle Challenger.
She came back from being disgraced into awesome poise, sophistication and huge prolific talent. After over 30 years, the Miss America powers that be apologized to her. She has her own star on the Hollywood Walk Of fame. If she’s not inspiration I don’t know who is!!! Thank you, Vanessa!! For Never Giving Up!!!!!

Anastasia Lee I love Vanessa Williams I like & love her music she did a fantastic job singing the National Anthem Vanessa Williams doesn’t sound like a Ill Cow or a Pregnant Whale in Labor & giving birth to its Calf when she sings like other Women Singers do when they sing the National Anthem

Vanessa did a fantastic job. As a pop artist, I like hers next in line after Diana (best original version) and Whitney. This is good singing. This version still had continuity. People today don't know what real singing is and they definitely don't know the difference between a loud voice vs. a powerful voice.

A beautiful, dignified performance without the irritating embellishments which so many performers add to the tune. I think the best performances, like this one, sing the 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 of the lyrics rather than merely the words.

I remember Paul Harvey commenting on this halftime show as a pagan ritual. I believe he was referring to the pagan goddess Diana was exalted and Diana Ross was being exalted or lifted up before the people like a goddess. The use of the cross on the ground probably played a role
