Nice comparison... from the video both Rockmasters sound like under the blanket (less treble or presence than on 5150). Did you try to tweek EQ on rockmaster to get a more similar/agressive sound to 5150?
My ears are sensitive to high frequencies, I think and I tend to put less. The 5150 has a collection of frequencies that are difficult to tweakables. That's what comes out of it, I believe. On the RockMasters, I was able to attenuate the more aggressive frequencies to have a slightly more ''tork'' sound. I could certainly catch up on high frequencies by tweaking the RockMaster knobs a bit. The RockMaster knobs are so sensitive! Thanks for watching. Rock ON / Gear ON !
Super comparatif !
I will do some video with Thermite alone and Rockmaster alone. I admit that I set the treble setting on both rockmaster kind of low.. Both Thermite and Rockmaster are really good unit. Rockmaster stock is a little brigther and less gainy. The thermite have more low and more compress sound. I love these preamp.
@@Dr.Jekyll Oh I see. I always play in D Standard and sometimes Drop C. I still don't play in Drop Z with a 666 string guitar :P . This stems from my background via my defunct music group Kälter. I would say it's not unusual at all to play downtuned in the metalworking musical world. Unfortunately, the capsules will continue in D Standard until the moment when the urge takes me to put a guitar back in E Standard... Have a nice day and thanks for watching. Rock On / Gear ON!
Just the comparison I was looking for! Thank you!

Stock Rockmaster sounds better. Thermite nodded one sounds too dark.

@@bougear I get it, we all have our preferences. Not all metal is detuned so low. For that matter, not everyone agrees what metal is.
Solideeee
no boost on the 5150?
No boost.
