    There is a very simple shortcut for all this:
    First Version:
    * Delete all colors in the swatches
    * Select your Artwork (Ctrl + A)
    * Choose from the options of the swatches: add all selected colors
    This will convert all your colors in global colors
    - After this do your thing in "Recolor Artwork"
    Second Version (using the swatches is not necessary):
    * Select your Artwork (Ctrl + A)
    * Choose from the Menue Edit/Edit colors/Recolor with Preset/Color library
    * Hit the options for reducing colors to a palet (near the center of the window)
    * choose Pantone whatever (constrain to colorbook Pantone)
    * Hit OK and AI will give you the nearest color-match of Pantone to your RGB, CMYK, whatever
    I have the german version of Illustrator here, so the translation may be a little different

    Thank you SO much for this!! Quick question, so after converting the design to Pantone colours, if sending to a client, do you just export the files like normal afterwards into PNGs, PDFs, etc. any other file that you'd need?
    Also, when do you choose which colour space to work in for print - CMYK or converting the colours to Pantone? Thank you!!!

    • @danselzer
      @danselzer Год назад

      You would just select a different Pantone book, in this case the TCX, though I'm seeing now recolor artwork isn't recognizing the color books from Pantone Connect. oh well.

    What’s the difference between CMYK, Spot color and Pantone? when to use them and what is better for printing?

    I have a screen printer asking to change the artwork into Pantone colors how do I change the actual artwork into Pantone?

    • @GoldenPressStudio
      @GoldenPressStudio  2 года назад

      Recently Adobe made pantone colors a paid service instead of free like it used to be...BOO!!! But anyway what you would do is just use a pantone book to match up colors.

    Coated and uncoated refer to the type of paper, not ink. There is no such thing as coated or uncoated ink.

    • @GoldenPressStudio
      @GoldenPressStudio  Год назад

      Yep… and it’s important to use the right paper when picking pantones for screen printing. That’s why it was explained that way, to make sure you are using the right book for the ink you are using. Thanks

      yup, just tested. Recolor Artwork isn't seeing the other color books even when logged into connect. Will have to find a workaround involving downloading the entire library.

      @@danselzer : I've saved all color books as Lab ASE libs. Seems to do the trick for now ... Until Adobe presents us with an alternative option.
