    Nice video, for anyone who wants to OC his ks0 pro to this level bear in mind that you will have to replace the two 5 amps fuses or else they will overheat (not blow) and the miner will restart all the time

  • @ryandugan
    @ryandugan 2 месяца назад +2

    Good stuff! Like you alluded to, the issue is one of static pressure. The larger shroud simply addresses this by dumping some of the air to the outside, but i don't know that it actually sends much more air over the power stages (maybe a little bit, because you don't have as much reverse buffering of air due to the insane pressure).
    More 'powerful' (higher SP) fans are an option, but that often means higher RPMs and thus noise. But pressure is additive w/ fans in series, so I would guess the best option for just power stage cooling while still being relatively quiet would probably be a fan on both ends (push/pull) w/ these more directed shrouds. Or technically you could try to just stack fans on one end for push/push, though ideally you want them spinning in opposite directions, which would probably be hard to find.

    • @GreaterGoodMining
      @GreaterGoodMining  2 месяца назад

      You're the man brotha! I always love hearing what you have to say about my set up and tweaks that I've made. The push pull method definitely helped cool off the power stages, but then it seemed like the chip temps dropped too much again. I'm new to 3D printing but eventually I want to try to design my own shroud with a smoother transition and maybe one that covers the barrel plug as well. More FAFO sessions to come! Thanks for all your help and input! :)

    • @johngermain5146
      @johngermain5146 2 месяца назад +1

      I also use the push/pull method using two high SP fans. The main reason though is safety. If I am overclocking with only 1 fan and it fails ..... disaster. Thus two fans

    • @GreaterGoodMining
      @GreaterGoodMining  2 месяца назад +2

      @johngermain5146 I agree 💯 👍 I like to push these things to the limit just to see what they can do. But that's when I can watch them closely. If I know I won't be around to keep an eye on things I'll put an extra fan on to make it push pull again for sure

    U get it!.
    I bought 2 fans, first the 5v ac infinity s3 and the high speed ac infinity 1238.
    The s3 performs best on the metal deck, dropping from 72c to 62c exhaust. Although I think my shroud is not the best because of the reverse pressure and the loss of wind(Bottlened). So adding the 1238 barely reduces your maximum exhaust of 58C.
    With 320 Mhz and 30 mv I only get 280/310 GH and maximum temperatures of 121C maximum power and 90C exhaust. Not worth it. Silicone lottery, I guess...
    Also with 1238 I hear a very harsh sound when I try to sleep with my family.

    You didnt show how much power your now drawing at the wall on that laptop charger my guess is your over the 80% rule?

    • @GreaterGoodMining
      @GreaterGoodMining  2 месяца назад +1

      I did show it in the video. I showed the Meter Box again and talked about it. It was 220 watts total including the fans. So the actual KS0 Pro itself was pulling about 200 watts, the fan separately was pulling about 22 watts. It's a 240 watt power supply. So I'm about at the 80% rule

      @@GreaterGoodMining I assumed when you showed the box that was before adjustments. I'm very surprised it wasn't drawing more cool!

      @thecanadianpunk-miner4life Sorry I probably should have slowed down a bit when I showed my final settings and power consumption. I watched the video again and it was a pretty quick transition lol

      It’s an old wives tale - or at least just a misunderstanding that’s been repeated so often it’s now assumed to be true. 80% rule is for building circuits running a constant load. PSUs are made to run their rating - *on the load side*. Which means line side (at the wall) can be even higher

    I get over 360 with 380 peaks with a full shroud on the power side, generic 235cfm 6000rpm fan @ 30% for over two months. You should only pull 190 watts to get that output. And yes, kick that barrel plug to the curb. If it's hot to the touch, divert. No Predator needed. The constant resistance on that barrel plug isn't affected by a fan. The mosfet's should only be hitting 60-70. Lesser quality KS0's are going to plunge to the low 200g's and not put up with all of that. You guys spend too much money on these these little guys that pump out less that $45 a month.

      Silicon lottery is definitely different for everyone. I have fun modding and messing with my KS0 Pro's :] The barrel plug is warm to the touch, not hot. I did say a higher cfm fan and a single shroud would probably work best. I'll be trying that next as I said in the video. Happy mining!
