Damn, that wattage on 3080 is almost twice of the 4070.
6800 XT being better in all aspects than 3080 its a pleasant surprise.
rt but thats minimal
GDDRX memory needs a lot more energy.
The 6800 xt seems to consume more energy and gets more hotter then then 4070,would be a better card for me in my area due to high electric cost and the hot summers

@@ryutenmen I never said they where part of the same generation, just that the 6950 xt runs hotter and uses more electricity compared to the 4070
Outperforming both other cards, while consuming less power than the 3080, bravo to the 6800xt
Yeah, that's why I'm sticking with my RX 6800. I have it set up to perform close to the 3080. With 16GB of memory, I'll be set for a few years at least at 1440p. AMDs RX 6000 series honestly take the value crown.
When you pick games that perform better on AMD, that will happen.
AMD 6800xt can vouch for it. Definitely runs 10% faster than 3080 and it will only get better becuz we have 16 Gb vram. Gonna age like fine wine

Exacto, no todos estamos dispuestos a gastar 750$ en un 13900K + Cooler 360mm. Además se necesitan gabinetes realmente grandes, además de una fuente 1000W.

@@EuroRus2024 Umm no, not really. The 6800 XT mostly beats or otherwise draws with the RTX 4070 at 1440p except for 2 games, one of which is an RTX sponsored title. I didn't watch the 4K part as it doesn't concern me. I'll also take the additional 4GB VRAM for what it's worth. Price to performance wise, it's a no brainer.
radeon here is insanely impressive, it has the flattest frametime graphs with some games even being a completely flat line. Bravo
Yeah that's the main advantage I noticed too. Sure average FPS was also generally higher, but even if the Nvidia cards were 10% higher average FPS, if the frame-time graphs still looked like this then the 6800 XT is providing an overall smoother experience. 1% lows and 0.1% lows are so important, it is crazy how many tech youtubers will still just show average FPS when comparing cards.
6800 XT solid performance, got one for $500, while RTX 3080 is $700 here in my country

@@alvabravo5655 3080s are basically gone in my area and the only ones you see are open box or used. They are about the same price as the 6800xt, but they’re not readily available at any given time like AMD.
3080 sucks like 10% more power at full load to give you like 5% more performance. That 5% will disappear as soon as you load up more then 10/12 gb of vram lmao.
Looking at Hogwarts legacy 4k with Raytracing the 6800xt gets about 24 fps to the 3080 10gbs 15 fps. Of course 3080 is so low because it wants more then 10 gb vram.
Unless you’re doing some kind of Nvidia suite related workload, or want to play OLDER games with raytracing the 6800xt will be the better card in a few years when games keep demanding more VRAM.

When I bought the RTX3070 for $700 in the summer of 2022, I did not think that I would regret it so much. Raytracing lured her, but as it turned out, in normal quality she can't pull these rays anywhere. A month later, the RX6800XT appeared on sale for the same money. I was wrong.
Interesting, the RX 6800 XT is doing really well!
i wanted a 6800 when the prices were ridiculous but ended up paying too much for a prebuilt with a 3070. still an upgrade from my 1070 at the time. now that things have calmed down (except nvida prices) i got lucky and picked up an asrock phantom 6800xt off ebay for $400. paired with a 5900x and 32gb ram should have me looking forward to some clean 1440p @60 gaming for some time to come.
Man Nvidia could have sold so many 4070s if it was just priced right.
It should be 4060 (4060 ti at best) and 4070 ti should have been branded as 4070, while 4060 ti should have been 4050. Non-ti 4060 shouldn't even exist in 2023.
For sure, if it was $400-450 it would probably be the most popular card since the GTX 970. I'd even be looking to buy one at that price, and I have a 3070 Ti. Once I saw what this generations line up and pricing looked like I knew I would not buy into it as a matter of principle, waiting on the 5000 series (and they better do better with that series, otherwise I will be going AMD or buying something used). I already over-paid for my 3070 Ti (not peak pricing, but not as cheap as it is today nor MSRP either), I won't be doing that again. The nice thing is I have a 1080 Ti and a 3070 Ti to sell used to add budget to my next upgrade, so thinking an RTX 5080 or 5080 Ti (or AMD).
Im so glad that i bought the 6800xt instead of the 3080, it performs better than the 3080 now and even the 4070 without RT

@@fpshunterI don't care about RT, since for me all it does is make the water look a bit cooler while making the game run 50% slower
@@TheACTIONZ I agree with you that too big of a hit on the performance but it not just about water. For example Cyberpunk 2077 with Ultra RT (not the Path Tracing tech demo) looks miles better than without it, the lights, reflections (transparent and curved accurate ones), global illumination and amibient occlusion elevates the game to another level. In Dying Light 2 if you only enable RT Global Illumination it could change the whole game's atmoshephre a lot, like a different game. I have an RTX 4080 and it was an open box deal for in my country's currency with VAT was around 1000 USD. If you experience Ray Tracing once in its fullest you don't want to go back.

i was considering between rtx 4070 and rx 6800 xt but since my monitor only supports freesync premium i gotta go with amd and im going to pair it with the ryzen 7 5700x, thoughts?
It's a solid combination however, the 5000 series of cpus have no upgrade path. Coming from someone with a 5800x and a 6700xt. Also, Nvidia cards work with freesync monitors. Just enable gsync and it should work anyway.
@@TheUAProdigy you right with the Nvidia freesync and gsync, however, even though there's no path on upgrading the 5700x (even though the 5800x3d exists), buying an expensive motherboard, that fries your CPU (like Asus), expensive CPU and expensive RAM, is not worth for the 10% performance you get, unless you are that crazy for fps but I am not thinking on running my 500fps Overwatch to 600fps like, there's no point on that, 5000 series can give you 60fps with Ray tracing in all AAA games and 144+fps in every "competitive" game.
Price for the 5700x is no brainer, is the best cpu you can get and is so damn cheap, totally worth it, once the 9000 series comes up maybe, maybe is worth the upgrade but I doubt it is that "necessary". Users with 3000 series still rocking.
I have the same cpu and gpu and I can tell you it's great, got the whole pc for 1.3k euros on sale, and the 6800xt might even be a better choice over the 4070 because of more vram
I can vouch for my 6800xt if u can grab it Red Devil, Sapphire, or XFX merc, those are the bomb. Anyhow, cant go wrong with pairing it to the 5700x. I have mine paired to 5600 and still kills every single game over 100+ fps AAA 1440p and 60+ fps @4k. (If 1080p is your aim super high fps then go 5800x3D since its top AM4 cpu).
Would recommend 6800xt over 4070 due to more vram, a better memory bus and bandwith, better rasterization and probably around $480. (Grabbed mine at $465 eBay auction and is a Red Devil so its a solid model).

How did you succeed in the last of us? I also have an rx 6800xt, only the vendor xfx merc. When I played on my ultra fhd, the average degrees were 65-68, but always almost closer to 70-72. And here it's only 61-62. And the rtx 3080 on the contrary, under 73-74. Surprisingly.
Also in red dead redemption 2, the video has 63 degrees on ultra in 2k, and I have 70~ degrees on fhd. In my case, if the average is high, balanced, then about 60-68. If ultra, the average degrees are 68, the maximum is 70-72-74.

A little disappointed in that 6800xt power consumption vs the 4070 for basically the same performance or a little better, but you can't beat the price on new and used cards. Used 6800xt's are regularly $300-450 usd range, unbelievable value.
If you need a GPU strictly for gaming and don't care about blows and whistles, chose Radeon. It's cheaper, more VRAM and gets the job done.

I'm rocking team Red.
But but but "RAY TRACING DLSS" Show with that so my weaker nvidia card can win or I will have a mental break down.
I'm new to pc building but the gpu reaching a high usage means that gpu is bottlenecking the cpu? I'm really surprised if that's the case, since I thought the 12400f is much weaker in terms of performance, at least that's what I gathered from reviews of current gen cpus, i.e. ryzen 7000 series and 13th gen intel
Yes it means the gpu is bottlenecking the cpu, but because triple a games are very graphics demanding (as you see by him playing at 4k all ultra). Some games like fps, people dont care abt quality, they just care about frames so there the cpu is the main factor.
So yes, if you slap 4k ultra on any game then any gpu is going to suffer. What you wanna do is think something like "well, im happy with reaching 1080p ultra, or 1440p ultra, or 4k ultra in all these games" and then you buy a graphics card that does that
Also the cpu isnt relevant here because in graphical games the gpu does all the work
3080 starting to struggle at 1440P already. It's a very capable card but it's its vram that's holding it back in games like hogwarts legacy and the last of us. Wish they only released a 3080 12 gb. 10 gb just wasn't enough for a high end card in 2020, let alone 2023.
is the strategy to make you change
there is a 12 gig version
Those games are poorly optimised, 10GB of VRAM should be plenty.
@@ricksanchez8469 They also haven't improved VRAM amounts since the 10 series, Nvidia is needs to give us more VRAM they are purposely not giving us enough. My 1070 ti has 8gb of VRAM, it's sad that a 3080 has only 2gb more lmao.
@@username8644 I do agree with that.
Whats wrong with AMD chunking vram like crazy? Some games its 40% or more vram usage
How TF resident evil 4 uses more than 10gb vram even on 720p resolution?
Does 2*8 3200 is enough for this build ....plz answer
For 6800xt and 12400f
Yeah
What is going on with hogwarts legacy? Gpu usage of the nvidia cards is falling way below 100% at 4k, even though you would expect the cpu to be chilling as the gpu takes longer to compute each frame.
how i wish amd make also low power usage :< here in my country electricity is not cheap
lol damn bro where do u live? electricty isnt cheap then how expensive is a gpu like this for you?
The 3080 swallows a lot of watts for what it performs compared to the 6800xt, the 4070 is a new generation and consumes twice as much less, bad ampere. The 6800xt with undervolt is a monster with a consumption of a 3060
Amd is King of the Hill, aim surprised performance per dollar and all that vram future proof .
do you have comparison tests 3080 vs 4070 in fullhd?

yes definitely even a rx 6800 xt is much better

@@keno5839 i would, in any case 6900xt is better for sure, basically unless ray tracing is very important to you for some reason or you do a lot of professional render work with software thats optimised for nvidia, go amd 100%
@@keno5839 Are you blind? If the 6800XT is handily beating the 4070 in this video, then a 6900XT will destroy it.
@@Dark-qx8rk I've many instances in the video where the 4070 is ahead of the 6800xt, so no it does not easily beat it at all times, it's almost a tie. Also the 4070 draws 100W+ less power so that's something to consider.
Edit: and the 4070 is way smaller than the 6800xt. If you want a mini ITX build than the 4070 is by far the superior choice.
Hello, how it is possible in Red Dead Redemption2, RTX 3080 and 4070 used around 7 GB of VRAM and the RX 6800XT used 13 GB of VRAM ?
Nvidia limits the vram consumption. This is explained properly by hardware unboxed. You can check their video for a proper explanation :)
@@JegsTV Ok, by using the L2 cache ? How do you feel it in games this limits ? For me it looks like an AMD 16GB=> a 10 or 12 GB in Nvidia. So when people believe that the 12 GB of Nvidia will be soon an issue, 16 GB of AMD will be an issue also.
why does 6800xt load so much vram?
Honestly if you’re coming from 1000 series or similar, have a 550-650W PSU and don’t wanna upgrade it, the 4070 is the safest bet. Apply an undervolt and it’s even more efficient, that’s the cool thing about it. Would’ve been nice if it was $499.99 MSRP like the 3070.
Not only it is not necessary an undervolt in the 4070, but it can also have a good OC and will continue to consume little, in terms of consumption, I am very satisfied with this GPU. If it cost 499 it would be perfect
+Paolo Chacon
650W psu is perfectly safe and fine for 6800xt, unless you intend to OC the shit out of your system. Power spike / Max rated wattage is 324 watts for 6800xt. 650w psu means you're still left with 326 watts to power everything else aside from powering gpu. Plenty power unless your mobo is jacked full of overpriced tech just for flexing.

@@JegsTV But amd use almost double as the 3080, and the fps are the same, so, whats the point ? Maybe the vram of Nvidia is less but faster ? Or the game are bad optimized in Amd cards ?
@@franbeliz1960 aside from limitation there are alot of factors to consider, optimization, software, hardware.
for starters the 6800xt has gddr6 256 memory while the rtx 3080 has gddr6x 320.

at the end of the day. dont overthink it too much. as long as the hardware is getting the advertised performance try to avoid nitpicking the numbers.
nVidia use memory compression(diff fews GB), to compare just add: RAM + VRAM
why v ram usage is diffrent?
the fact that nobody gives a f about ray tracing
You have problems with timecode names in the 2nd half of the video

Pelo que vi e melhor eu ficar com a minha RX 6800 xt obrigado pelo testes
Say what you will about the 4070, That thing is efficient. Get about the same frames as a 3080, and even beats it in some games but does it much cooler and with like nearly half the power.
Hola, con dlss 3.0 suben más los fps? Y le ganaría a la ame?
Yes with DLSS the performance would be better with nvidia
In Battlefield, look at the CPU usage between AMD and nVIDIA... WOW!
yup mine hit 99% in 4K Ultra. It's nuts.
6800 xt would have been even faster on a Ryzen CPU with SAM enanbled.

dang at this point i better run older game instead unoptimized new gen game
6800xt is just better in gaming (not in ray tracing)
See the power usage, temperatures and vram usage, 4070 is the best to cheap along the time. In some games the power difference is over 100w.
It's like a 50w diff between the 6800 XT, It'll take years for the power bill to catch up especially if you can find the 6800 XT for cheaper. It also has 16gb of VRAM and is more powerful

That sounds like a really minor upgrade and probably not worth it i think.
Spending more than 400$ for roughly 40-50% power increase doesn't make much sense. Unless you shit gold like a Lanister lol.

if you're going to upgrade from 6700, 6800 is minor and not significant imo.. better wait next gen or 7900 / 4080 / 4090
6700xt is capped by the 192 bit bus, it's on par with 3070 at 1440p but falls behind at 4k
I got a RX6800XT with 16 Gb and it is nice but AMD drivers just suck - and this was my last AMD card ever. If i update the driver - one game wont work and if i roll back then one game makes the PC reset spontaneously when gaming. Never had such a bad experience with a product before.
have you uninstalled the previous driver? I had AMD cards for 4 years now and I never had a problem
4070 uses less power...and that's about all it has. Ray tracing isn't really that exciting, especially to my blind ass who can't even notice the difference. Simply disappointing, and i have solar power anyways so not like 100 extra watts will make much of a difference
6800 XT >>>> ALL NVIDIA

Outstanding video! Wanted to make sure I made the right decision going with rx 6800xt and it seems I did.
More vram, better memory bandwith, a better memory bus, while having more rasterization, hell even with ray tracing (which is ass) have somewhat playable framerates. All this while remaining $100-200 cheaper… thats honestly impressive.
AMD better make good use of this opportunity, specially for a company almost in bankruptcy back in 2016. They have come a long way… but Need to deliver more than ever
AMD can't RT at even half the capacity Intel does, 4070 smashes 1000$ 7900 XTX in RT so LOL at "playable framerates with RT on a 6800XT" i remember when consoles also called 24 fps cinematic.
