You should honestly try the Pyotr Bagration. It's a really good ship that doesn't get the attention it deserves. It has pretty solid armour, good maneuverability and really good guns. The AP pen, pen angles, accuracy and reload of the main guns make this ship a monster if you can get a good flank on your opponents.This ship is a citadel machine because of the AP pen angles and pen. People usually underestimate this ship because they don't know alot about it or that it even exists. The armour may seem weak on paper but if you angle it's really hard to eat citadels because of the layered armour and 40mm icebreaker. If people push you, you have 5 torps per side that have 8km range and do decent damage, they've saved me more times then I've given it credit. It doesn't have a radar but it doesn't really need it because this is a cruiser hunter and can make the lives of BB's also really tough. Just build the ship for full concealment. I'm really excited for you to try the Pyotr Bagration.

@@Anldiot69 It's an OK premium, it's not good but can perform. Something like Kutuzov or Atago are way better. The problem is range, kite angles, bulky hull and not great speed/acceleration. So you'll be in T9/10 potshoting BBs from almost your max distance but they can and will return the fire.
Fenyang AP is where it’s at. Ignore the HE unless you have absolutely no other option. It gets improved angles, higher damage, and flatter ballistics compared to Aki. That makes the AP absurdly consistent, including against DDs. You need them to angle a little bit to fuse your AP, but it does insane damage.
I barely shoot HE with Fenyang. Our hero PQ forgot to mention that it's AP is far superior to Akizukis, improved pen angles, and better retention of velocity. But it could use some love, like 16km torps maye. Or a bit more DPM
Exactly! I play it like the German AP DD line. I only use HE to set fires on bow-in BBs and CAs. Otherwise always use AP! Many people don't know Fenyang's gimmick so they still turn broadside in DDs to unmask their back turrets and pay the price. When top tier you can even citadel poor T6 cruisers.
I'd love to see Constellation or Illinois! Both got a lot of videos right when they came out, but not seen much on either since outside of replay channels. I'd love to see how they work here in 2024!
Ship Request: Druid. In the right hands it appears to be an phenominal ship in terms of damage and xp/credits earnt etc. Considering it only has the 2 guns in front it is insane the amount of shells it can churn out, again, if done right.

3:10 Sees 21mm of HE pen. Oh no Potato... you aren't really going to use this thing as an HE spammer are you? Yes the HE pen is garbage, that's why you ignore it and treat this like the British light cruiser that it is. She has improved AP damage, pen, and pen angles, it couldn't be clearer what ammo type to focus on. I'm understanding why you feel this is just a worse Akizuki if you are going to try playing it like an Aki, you are simply going to get worse results. Also given you are a DD with DefAA you can abuse flak spawning mechanics to really destroy air squads. Basically you activate DefAA and focus your AA just as the CVs air squad is around 3.7km from you and coming towards you. This causes the flak to spawn as close as it possibly can to you directly in the path of the air squad with no time for the CV to even attempt to dodge it. It'll sometimes also spawn two quick bursts and just delete air squads. 10:18 I know it sounds counter productive but you would have been farming that Brandon so much better if you had been using the AP. You still have nearly 50mm of AP pen at the ends of your range, you can legit be penning his deck and upper belt with your AP at the range you are fighting from. You are only really a worse Akizuki if you try to play like an Akizuki. Honestly as someone who has Fenyang and has a fair few games in her, this was kind of painful to watch. IFHE just isn't worth it on her, the HE isn't worth it on her. Fenyang is an AP spammer, and gets great damage out of her AP at basically any range against just about any target. Anyone reading this who may actually be interested in Fenyang here is my recommended build for her,(note this is a 20 point build) Preventive Maintenance and Consumables Specialist for 1 points skills, Last Stand and Extra-Heavy Ammunition for 2 point skills, Main Battery and AA Specialist, and Adrenaline Rush for 3 point skills, Concealment Expert and Radio Location for 4 point skills. If you really want the extra HP you can drop Radio Location for Survivabilty Expert, and grab a 2 point skill of your choice. I personally don't see the value in this, others might though. I personally would rather avoid damage by knowing where the ship spotting me is, rather than have a little more HP to try to run away. I won't pretend Fenyang is a great ship, but she does hold her own fairly fine, and funnily enough when played right wins the DPM race with Aki. Though I don't think I could recommend people actually go out of their way to buy Fenyang. If you get her for free though she's not bad. Just don't play her like an Akizuki and expect her to be as good or better than Aki.
Actually, PQ plays this ship wrong here. It has improved AP angles which is really strong. It basicalls has the strongest AP at T8 and you usually get Fullpens due to the small caliber. It can beat an Akizuki and any other GunDD in an infight if you are used to it (at T8).
Worcester complete AA build: Round 2! With the couple of additions to commander skills, the lack of any carriers in the first video and the possibility of making it work this time i believe is enough justification to try it again!
Plus she has nearly Edinburgh DPM with her AP with improved pen angles and pen(It's basically on par with 127mm guns). Fenyang does not struggle to deal damage, she just struggles to use her HE.
I got a tier 7 german premium cruiser the Weimar i think its called..or Weinmar. I got it in the holiday crates. Id be curious to see what you think of this ship
Have a feeling we’re going to get a lot of angry commenters saying that PQ didn’t using the AP enough :) (if you know how good Daring AP is, Fenyang has effectively the same characteristics) Also, my request is HSF Harekaze II, one of the most obscure ships in the game in my opinion.
Blyska has been powercrept to hell. Haida has better concealment AND Hydro, Huron has better DPM AND gets a heal. Japanese DDs have longer torp range AND are just as fast. Russian DDs are faster AND just as good at gunboating. Just saying, you might wanna spend your coal somewhere else, unless you are just really keen. Good luck!
I run on heavy AP instead of IFHE and play with a very different play style. It hit hard on broad side CA or DD, about 3-4k per nice-hit salvo. Maybe just try AP more is better. It has improved pen angle and damage anyway.
OK, first free santa crate I picked of T7 Poltava. Haven't played it yet, but this is my ship request. I don't remember ever seeing one of these in a game before, but maybe I just don't play much T7 any more and didn't notice when it was there.
I absolutely LOVE this ship, its honestly one of my all time favourite tier 8 DDs. It absolutely SMASHES other DD, chunks cruisers and can citadel them relatively consistantly, has great AA, and works particularly well against armoured DDs that are usually a pain in butt to deal with like anything french or russian due to its FANTASTIC AP. I have over 500 matches in the Ship Smasha, (clone of this ship with Ork themed camo) and well over 2000 PR in it, its a VERY strong bote if you play it right. Please try playing it again running a full Dakka heavy AP build and dont bother shooting HE at ALL unless you are just trying to light a fire on a BB with it, youll be amazed at how differently the bote plays! 👍

Feng Yang Is a really interesting ship, after the war she was transferred to China navy as train ship till 60s, during long time was some of the IJN surviving ships
Even with Aki, as soon as I have 1 or 2 fires burning I'll switch to AP and farm superstructure/upper belt when possible. That's what this is meant for.
IFHE isn't ideal on Fen/Smasha - too much loss in fire chance; and the AP has improved pen angles (23 > 30 degrees) so that the enemy struggles to angle against you - although it is prone to overpenetrating.
Ap should be the main ammo type on the Fenyang. The thing about the 100mm guns is that because they are so small, they are less likely to overpenetrate.
@@vitezslavlorenc3479 IFHE can give some consistency against DDs that go bow-in - but you're spending 4cps on a skill that isn't giving you any benefit if you're using the superior AP; or if you're trying to start fires on the many many targets that will still shatter HE even with IFHE slotted. It's not like the IJN 100mm guns that cross a ton of thresholds with IFHE on them. It's not really worth it when you're better off just playing around using the AP with its improved ricochet angles or lighting fires with the solid base fire chance and decent number of barrels.

@@vitezslavlorenc3479 Bow in you can try penning turret faces or arming off deck-clutter. And if you're positioning properly them going bow-in to you means them eating broadside salvoes from your teammates - which is fine too. IFHE punishes fires far harder on ships like Fen than rapid firing DDs, and you're better using your AP to farm direct damage in general. You've got the torps which are devastating against targets they can actually hit, so there's not really any need to farm meh HE damage against saturated superstructures when you've got far better tools at your disposal that don't cost 4 commander points to slot. IFHE is only really worth getting if you're struggling vs DDs, and even then it's better to play around the limitations rather than inefficiently throw CO points at it and nerf your solid fire starting capabilities.
You got a Fujin. End of story. The most OP ship of any kind at any tier (with it's Kamikazi R & other unobtainable clones). My stats in that thing are beyond disgusting. It's ludicrous.
I think this was the first ship that I picked up randomly in a crate. When the ship trade in happened I swapped it out plus some credits for Bayard. Totally worth it.
Can you try Toulon, it’s great. I just got Fenyang from a container, and I don’t like it, I always get stuck 6 km from a Michelangelo and I can’t do anything the bloody torpedoes can’t hit cruisers, your he can’t pen dds. I have resorted to being an open water from ten km away. The only thing going for it is the DFAA

I have IFHE for her in some cases, but most of time AP is answer. AP on Fenyang is Amazing and I'm surprise why PQ ignore about that?
Agreed, would love to see PQ play it again but use ap alot more, it's really really strong on DDS and cruisers.

Z-35 could be interesting, it got a pretty big buff a few patches ago (5.5 hydro, and a hugely improved turret traverse)

Honestly as someone who has Fenyang and has a fair few games in her, this was kind of painful to watch. IFHE just isn't worth it on her, the HE isn't worth it on her. Fenyang is an AP spammer, and gets great damage out of her AP at basically any range against just about any target.
Anyone reading this who may actually be interested in Fenyang here is my recommended build for her,(note this is a 20 point build) Preventive Maintenance and Consumables Specialist for 1 points skills, Last Stand and Extra-Heavy Ammunition for 2 point skills, Main Battery and AA Specialist, and Adrenaline Rush for 3 point skills, Concealment Expert and Radio Location for 4 point skills. If you really want the extra HP you can drop Radio Location for Survivabilty Expert, and grab a 2 point skill of your choice. I personally don't see the value in this, others might though. I personally would rather avoid damage by knowing where the ship spotting me is, rather than have a little more HP to try to run away.
I won't pretend Fenyang is a great ship, but she does hold her own fairly fine, and funnily enough when played right wins the DPM race with Aki. Though I don't think I could recommend people actually go out of their way to buy Fenyang. If you get her for free though she's not bad. Just don't play her like an Akizuki and expect her to be as good or better than Aki.
Actually, PQ plays this ship wrong here. It has improved AP angles which is really strong. It basicalls has the strongest AP at T8 and you usually get Fullpens due to the small caliber. It can beat an Akizuki and any other GunDD in an infight if you are used to it (at T8).
PQ plays most ships with good ap wrongly lol. Shoots way too much he even at broadsides

With the couple of additions to commander skills, the lack of any carriers in the first video and the possibility of making it work this time i believe is enough justification to try it again!
PQ: "It just lacks DPM, straight UP". Fenyang : "3rd best HE DPM out of tier VIII DD's".
HE dpm without the pen to damage even DD hulls without IFHE makes it circumstantial at best, misleading at worst.
Plus she has nearly Edinburgh DPM with her AP with improved pen angles and pen(It's basically on par with 127mm guns). Fenyang does not struggle to deal damage, she just struggles to use her HE.

Fenyang is more of an AP ship. Try it. Its weird, but it works! Also, its special pan-Asian camo is fkn beautiful!
I got a tier 7 german premium cruiser the Weimar i think its called..or Weinmar. I got it in the holiday crates. Id be curious to see what you think of this ship
It’s a good farming cruiser (for ranked mostly) but it’s reload has been quite heavily nerfed
I think your supposed to run AP against DDs and no ifhe and use the HE to specifically catch cruisers and battleships on fire

Agree. fenyang is actually pretty deadly against dd's with it's AP. You will still have to play very carefully, but yeah... it surprises a lot of ppl.

Have a feeling we’re going to get a lot of angry commenters saying that PQ didn’t using the AP enough :) (if you know how good Daring AP is, Fenyang has effectively the same characteristics)

Blyska has been powercrept to hell. Haida has better concealment AND Hydro, Huron has better DPM AND gets a heal. Japanese DDs have longer torp range AND are just as fast. Russian DDs are faster AND just as good at gunboating. Just saying, you might wanna spend your coal somewhere else, unless you are just really keen. Good luck!

I run on heavy AP instead of IFHE and play with a very different play style. It hit hard on broad side CA or DD, about 3-4k per nice-hit salvo. Maybe just try AP more is better. It has improved pen angle and damage anyway.

OK, first free santa crate I picked of T7 Poltava. Haven't played it yet, but this is my ship request. I don't remember ever seeing one of these in a game before, but maybe I just don't play much T7 any more and didn't notice when it was there.
I absolutely LOVE this ship, its honestly one of my all time favourite tier 8 DDs. It absolutely SMASHES other DD, chunks cruisers and can citadel them relatively consistantly, has great AA, and works particularly well against armoured DDs that are usually a pain in butt to deal with like anything french or russian due to its FANTASTIC AP. I have over 500 matches in the Ship Smasha, (clone of this ship with Ork themed camo) and well over 2000 PR in it, its a VERY strong bote if you play it right. Please try playing it again running a full Dakka heavy AP build and dont bother shooting HE at ALL unless you are just trying to light a fire on a BB with it, youll be amazed at how differently the bote plays!

Even with Aki, as soon as I have 1 or 2 fires burning I'll switch to AP and farm superstructure/upper belt when possible. That's what this is meant for.

IFHE isn't ideal on Fen/Smasha - too much loss in fire chance; and the AP has improved pen angles (23 > 30 degrees) so that the enemy struggles to angle against you - although it is prone to overpenetrating.
Ap should be the main ammo type on the Fenyang. The thing about the 100mm guns is that because they are so small, they are less likely to overpenetrate.
You need IFHE to pen superstructures and DDs. Without it its useless to use it cos it will shatter even on dds and sometimes you must use HE..
@@vitezslavlorenc3479 IFHE can give some consistency against DDs that go bow-in - but you're spending 4cps on a skill that isn't giving you any benefit if you're using the superior AP; or if you're trying to start fires on the many many targets that will still shatter HE even with IFHE slotted.
It's not like the IJN 100mm guns that cross a ton of thresholds with IFHE on them.
It's not really worth it when you're better off just playing around using the AP with its improved ricochet angles or lighting fires with the solid base fire chance and decent number of barrels.
@@Ace42x Yeah but as you wrote if DD is bow in you cant do shit without IFHE. Also you can start some fires even with IFHE and also pen to superstructure of all ships.
@@vitezslavlorenc3479 Bow in you can try penning turret faces or arming off deck-clutter. And if you're positioning properly them going bow-in to you means them eating broadside salvoes from your teammates - which is fine too.
IFHE punishes fires far harder on ships like Fen than rapid firing DDs, and you're better using your AP to farm direct damage in general.
You've got the torps which are devastating against targets they can actually hit, so there's not really any need to farm meh HE damage against saturated superstructures when you've got far better tools at your disposal that don't cost 4 commander points to slot.
IFHE is only really worth getting if you're struggling vs DDs, and even then it's better to play around the limitations rather than inefficiently throw CO points at it and nerf your solid fire starting capabilities.
You got a Fujin. End of story. The most OP ship of any kind at any tier (with it's Kamikazi R & other unobtainable clones). My stats in that thing are beyond disgusting. It's ludicrous.
I think this was the first ship that I picked up randomly in a crate. When the ship trade in happened I swapped it out plus some credits for Bayard. Totally worth it.
Oh yeah, I have both and Bayard is a way way way better ship than this one.

I just got Fenyang from a container, and I don’t like it, I always get stuck 6 km from a Michelangelo and I can’t do anything the bloody torpedoes can’t hit cruisers, your he can’t pen dds. I have resorted to being an open water from ten km away. The only thing going for it is the DFAA

Try the Z-39 that you got. The only tier 7 ship with a 5th slot. The smoke + hydro can help you solo hold flanks
