    Another great example of a realistic game. I think you should have capped, it was completely free and there was no one else designated to do it. The attack on the Groningen was indeed a misplay, but at least I now know I should never try that! 😄

      Trying to push a smoked up Fries / Gron with hydro running in a DD when you don't have vision yourself is a terrible idea no matter what.

    when you said you wonder what you could have done differently at the start of the match, I was thinking it was pretty spooky to run at a hydro dd supported by a smolensk. As you saw, that is where the huge hp loss too early in match came from. I don't think it would have taken much for the gron and smol to finish you off if they had focused. fortunately, the smolensk was a bit scared of the missouri.

      Yeah you cant push into that, regardless of what kind of DD you are. Sometimes you just have to suck it up that MM threw a hardcounter to your class on that particular flank, and relocate accordingly to where you can get something done. And the french are the best at relocating, so the answer gives itself.

    Rule NR one in a french DD: Keep your W Key bashing full speed forward!
    Even if the enemy is covered in smoke.
    YOU can take much more danage than him cause of french DD Saturation.
    The moment you see him..reload booster on,and off you go. Even if you sacrifice half of your HP during one run, even if he has a heal,theres no escape and no time to use it.
    (Except there's a lot of Cruiser support in his background..in that case i try to hide and turn behind his smoke)
    You always, always win a DD vs DD fight in KLEBER/MARCEAU

    Capping A and then rotating back to middle spawn to farm at B probably would have been better move. Especially considering the only two ships on that A flank were Gron and Smol which are brutal against DDs.

    Nice work PQ, love your content. Re the Groningen/Freisland - if I am playing British DD or CA I just run them down. There's no torp threat so I nose in to smoke firing penalty or assured detection range, sink them with AP or torps and then sit in the smoke left behind.

    I need that PQ laugh as a sound file. Every time my team folds, a DD suicides, I ground on an island whilst kiting etc. I can just play that sound file and suddenly it feels less serious!

    This is a great line to play, i dont think there is one ship in the line i didnt have fun with. It also teaches you how to manipulate your detection since there is no smoke crutch

    I started running the lighthouse build on the Henry a while back after watching your video. What a blast. Today I tried the Irian with the same build. A bit scary with no heal but wow what a blast.

    In that first match, the enemy team threw hard. They were up by over 400 points at times and then just fizzled it all away to a derpy sub not spotting for the Salem from a distance, but wanting to loiter and do.... nothing basically.

    Kleb is such a fun boat to play. Very strong. The AP is nasty too, can cit heavy cruisers broad side at like 10km. Reload booster ur and you can out gun broadside cruisers close in.

    I used to play Kleb as a DD killer when it first came out but there's just too many carriers, too much radar, too many dds with hydro these days so I basically shelved the ship for a couple of years. I did find that legendary Kleb with Swift and Silence was hilarious and super white knuckle but not very conducive to winning.
    But... within the past month or so, I found myself playing this long range artillery set up and it really fun.

      You need the range as a DD now to stay out of secondary range I find. Secondary spec ships can really rip you apart if you have to get close, even if fast with stealth.

    "French Saturation" was mentioned twice (IIRC) (1st time about 1:00) in this video.
    You said something about "once you take hits to your ship, the next hits aren't going to do nearly as much damage" (1:07).
    Is that really a thing?
    Does it appear in the documents on the Kleber somewhere?

    Sorry for being a bit late but in 15:30 you say that "looks like the Marseille has hydro up". How do you see that from there? I know you could have read it in chat or something earlier but it seems you take note of something on the ship or?

    Broadside Smolensks, Colberts, Minotaurs, don't hesitate to use MBRB and AP to nuke them in seconds, especially if they are already distracted.
    If you have the opportunity (not too many ships in front of you at game start), your speed can allow CV sniping with these boats, despite the lack of AA, if the CV player isn't high skilled, he will miss you a lot and your speed witll allow you to be in firing range very quickly. You can also play Khaba style, get behind enemy ships and harass them while juking with the engines to avoid being shot...
    Times to use the MBRB: DD spotted that isn't maneuvering too much unless your aim is very good and especially if they are not supported, broadside light cruisers, at less than 10 km with AP if they are already distracted, BBs occupied that you can set fires to to make them use their damage control or put permafires on them to help the team.
    Range module is ill advised unless your aim is very good, those shells get very slow with range.
    Against Grunningen, you have two choices with the Kleber, either stay out of his hydro range or just fo straight at him with speed boost, you will cover the 5 km very quickly and as it doesn't have torps, all you have to do is swing a little to brings torps to bare on him once he becomes visible. Try to get to a position where the Grun player is either on his stern or bow towards you so only one turret will be able to fire at you at once during your approach.
    Remember, AP is good mostly below 10 km against cruisers. Some heavy cruisers such as the US and ITA ones can be citadelled from close range. Germans can't. French ones, well, they have their black hole armor scheme...
    French DDs are also amazing anti sub DDs, they have a crap tons of depth charges per charge and they deal a lot of damage. Plus, the speed of the boat allows you to come above the sub in no time to deliver your playload onto it. Sub hunting in those is very pleasing.
    Tier for tier, I much prefer the Mogador to the Kleber because the Mogador is less slugish even with two less torps.

    I really like the Kleber. I have both her and Marceau. Kleber is definitely easier to learn how to play with the extra range, but full stealth ambush Marceau is really nasty to deal with.

      I have the Kleber and should take her out more. I tend to have a few good games and then one where I am useless (spotted all the time, hard focused, cannot get good fights/farm enemy ships) and put her on the shelf. Starting to use her again for ranked and enjoying my time.
      I am actually looking at the Marceau as my next coal ship, although stuck in an endless debate between her and Forest Sherman. Will eventually get both, but trying to decide which would be more fun/interesting right now. Ran into a lot of Marceau in ranked and they can be scary if played well. Not nearly as many FS in ranked so far, but not sure why. Maybe already moved up the leagues?

    Quick question: I notice you don't run superintendent a lot, even on ships like the Kleber that have powerful consumables. Is that cause you value the other skill bonuses more than having an extra booster/heal/smoke? Just curious. Coming back from a 2 year hiatus and your videos have been really helpful with redoing my builds. Thanks!

      You will rarely have long enough games to where your speed boosts run out and kleb/marc primarily rely on their speed. Superintendent on DD is only for like harugumo or radar dd.

      @@rileychu4489 Not even that imho, games dont last long enough to make use of super intendend period.. some boats like F Sherman or Smolensk make good use of it since they get an anemic amount of consumables(Smokes) and they rely on those smokes to get their damage in. Other dd generally don't since they don't get more heals out of the super intendent skill.

      It depends on what my focus is and what the consumable is. Reload booster and speed booster i dont feel are strong enough to waste 3 points for more. Save reload boosters for DD fighting. Speedbooster for escapes. While Smokes, yes. I want more chances to hide and farm. So..just depends on what im really trying to get out of the consumable.
      Also side note, i dont run Adrenalin Rush on my DDs anymore either. Everyone calls it a must have. But its only a .2% increase for 1% HP loss. So at 50% HP i only get a 10% reload boost. Say you have a 5 second base reload. That means at 50% HP my reload is only 4.5. So 3 points for a half second boost isnt worth it. On torpedoes, say you have 100 second reload. Now at 50% HP you take 10 seconds off. Again, 10 seconds isnt something i notice on torpedoes. But a BB, like Vermont. 40 second reload. 50% HP now gets me a 36 second reload. Thats big. Or for me, i run Flandre. 33 second base with Charels Henri his .25% Adrenalin rush means at 50% hp i get 12.5% boost instead of 10%. Thats just over 4 seconds off reload. That is....amazing. So you have to just really think about what you want to accomplish in your ship. Like i recently changed my KIDD from all around DD to DD hunting, and adjusted skills accordingly, its a night and day ship now.

    kleber really scales in platoons. its a force multiplier. on its own its a bit limited.

    I put honore on as the capt, and he gets an even better grease the gears. But yeah I enjoy your games because while it is fun watching someone get a 250k battle, those are few and far between. A 60-120k battle are more common, and we all have bad starts as dds too, so you were able to stay helpful and apply damage even with a chunk of your health missing and a rough start.

    what you couldve done differently in the first game - rpf switched from you to the missouri, i wouldve headed into mid then, returning later for the groningen as your missouri just misplayed it yolo style anyway. just my 2 cents :) edit: kleber is btw one of these dd's where it makes no sense to turn off AA. 3.3km detec vs 2.8km AA range if i recall correctly

    On console kleber has even stronger guns even with no gunboat french dd commander but our kleber has only 6km range torps but damn we can make this ship go 60+ knots

    Hi Potato! Thanks for the video. This build is different from the previous one 4 months ago. I have only 18 points on my captain, so currently I am not using CE skill. Anyhow, Kleber should almost always use her guns, and dpm buff skill is only active when you are not in concealment.

    I do think Kleber needs some help these days, when it was released it might have been more powerful but these days there are so many more DDs capable of putting up a fight *and* being stealthier whilst doing it. It seems to really live and die depending on the support it gets, which is always questionable in randoms.

    Funny story, I hit a kleber with a shimakaze torpedo when he was on 4k hp and he lived. He died to the flooding afterwards, but man don't sleep on the damage saturation

    Would you say a Marceau is a first line DD vs Kleber? DPM on Kleber is like an ambush predator, whereas a Marceau is a more gun and run?

      Kleber is the easy ship, Marceau is the harder to master one. Both want to go run-and-gun, it's actually easier to run-and-gun with the extra range that Kleber has.
      Head-to-head, Marceau tends to win if Kleber engages at less than 10k and either misses the autoloaded shots or has it on cooldown.
      Marceau at this point is becoming her own thing. They nerfed her range recently so the best you have is 13.8km. she has far better AA, and DFAA instead of loader. The dpm of autoloader is basically baked in. She's a bit lower DPM than Kleber in that time, but consistent.
      Kleber you can use the 16.5km max to bully big ships and still do massive burst to DDs, Marceau is basically half a Colbert that makes shell rain at anything beyond 10km. Marceau is far better at island camping because of the bad ballistics.

    I love ur remarks on 5s fire duration on cv and complete fire imunity for 1m after being on fire for 5 sec. Also love ur comment on cv harrasing u after she died. Love how balanced this cheating ussr shit is. Also love ur creepy laughter. Keep up the good work.

    Good video. I understand your frustration. I play almost exclusively the French for my DD line, and getting people ti understand what their ships role is always blows my mind. Playing with a 5.5 UK DD and watching them stay 10km away from cap while i in my 7+ Frenchie has to push a cap because we need the spotting immediately pisses me off.
    Or people playing Japanese torpedo boats smoking up and just sitting not firing. 'Ok you dropped smoke for somone else, go spot now'
    And probably the most frustrating is scared BB play. 3BBs go one cap, see 3 crusiers and run. The never push. Something i have picked up from your videos is always trying to decide when to push in a BB.
    I will see 4 ships agaisnt 1 or 2 and they just hang back and hang back and hang back. While MISSING the whole time. Its just bad play and i hate it.
    Not that im the the best or even good. According to WG my rating is bad, but im always trying to cap or spot. Trying to focus the least HP/closest ship. This is truepy one of the last full team play games. I can do 200k damage and kraken but we still lose. The amount of potatoes that play this game is crazy.

    in the first game you really could have helped your team a lot by getting the cap when you first drove through it. then not having your AA on when you were attacking the CV and perma lit was a big miss play.
