1 Do not get spotted. 2 when you chose to be spotted, terrorize them. 3 it is not the end of the world if you are spotted, just deal with it and evade and escape. 4 when engaging, use islands to limit the number of ships that can shoot at you or if a BB made sure the main guns are pointed to the other side of the ship and secondary range check. 5 do not listen to teammates, they will only get you killed, not support you and complain about how fast you ran to your death. 6 be patient, until it is time to be hyper aggressive. (think of the turkey hunter with 80 some birds coming in) 7 choose your fights and ask for help when you do choose to fight. (4 on 1 is a fair fight) 8 hydro DDs are sub killers. 9 sometimes you can charge DDs or subs if they spot you first if you are supported, and they are not. I have raised my DD stats over the last 18 months or so from 43% to getting just under 50% with over 16000 games and 3000 some in DDs. I have also got a kraken in the Huron a non-smoke DD without taking damage with kills from guns, depth charges and torps.
Nice job! Another tip in random battles, try not to listen to your teammates too much if they are crazy. You’ll often be told to hurry up and get in the cap when you know there’s radar and you have no support behind you. Hopefully your teammates will be good, but if not, take care of yourself first. I often died early on, trying to be the hero and running into the cap. That works until you get to the higher tiers, then it’s just a death trap!
Oland main here (3000+ games) It's an oddball and Ragnar is also an oddball in so far as playstyles. I picked up Pan Euros early on because they are the hardest/most difficult to play and I fell in love with Oland after I learned how to use its intricacies to advantage. I absolutely love double CV games, she's absolutely free to roam in single CV games and Reaks havoc on the enemy team for the positions she can find and get to. I sink a-lot of CVs, unprotected they (even 2 CVs) can't stop me "period"! It's not that she shoots down a million planes, it's that they can't hit me whilst I'm shooting down many. Simply put aircraft can't stay in Olands' AA aura long enough to obtain their preferred angles and I'm dodgy enough that they can't hit me from my preferred angles. I've learned how to counter CVs and no other DD can do what Oland does to them. Nobody believes me but is "is" and I kick their asses dominantly! She also does well against Subs "because of her maneuverability". She's free to roam so long as you do it correctly. Yep Oland (and I lol) are oddballs lol. Have you played Oland enough to do well in her????? Max AA + Jerzy makes Oland a great DD!
Yes, as a gunboat your goal is also to destroy other DD by gunning them down. When you are however a topedo boat then it is your job to spot the enemy DD so your teammates who should back you up with cruisers can destroy the other DD. In the example with the Sommers he makes a terrible mistake. You are located, which is most likely by the Sommers. So he knows that you are there. So in that case he should not angle towards you in such an aggressive way. If he would be more parallel with your heading then he could spot you without giving away his own exact position. He also comes behind an island with his nose in, which is always a bad thing to do as a torpedo boat. Het probable spotted you at the same time you spot him, which is to late. If he would have gone in a heading of 270 he would had outspotted you. In that case the Venezia could use his smoke while you were spotted by the Sommers. The Sommers could even smoked up the venezia while he was spoting you. The Sommers should also have know that there were 2 Stalingrad cruisers nearby that could radar him. So the fact that he knows that you are there because of the radio location and he knows that he is inside the range of the radar should mean that he never should go there in such an aggressive angle. The Sommers should have helped the cruiser that is east of him with torps against the stalingrad cruisers. The most important task of a DD is to stay alive. The Sommers in this case is doing a very poor job with that regard. The second job is to spot for your teammates so they can shoot while they stay hidden. The third job is to cap when that is possible but only when you can stay alive while doing that. That also means that capping is often not a good idea when you don't know what the situation is. Capping means that the enemy knows exactly where you are because you are in the cap. It is then very easy for the enemy to pick a good spot and then radar you.
WG is not keeping subs and CVs out of CBs because they are bad for the game (they really are, but WG does not care about that). They keep them out of competetive because all of the big clans like RAIN, 3X and so on would not play if they are allowed. They essentially boykotted the last season CVs were allowed ( T6 CB about 2 years ago ). They just said "screw this shit" and many other clans followed their example. It was a lobal record low in CB participation and WG never tried again since then. You need to remember that WG wants WOWS as an E-sport game (hillarious with such an RNG heavy game). So the big competetive clans can pull some weight. WG needs them to some degree.
again, the big clans can cry themselves to sleep griping about subs and CVs -- it's a world war 2 era game, and in world war 2 there were subs and CVs -- get over it people... you want full naval battle boom-boom bang-bang surface ships? find a game from a pre-world war 2 era and have at it.
@@whyme507 ok, if we're going to get into a 'complete realism' conversation there's not a single thing about world of warships that's accurate. It's a game, deal with it or don't play it, lol.
everyone complains about subs... 'they shouldn't be in the game' and such... FYI, this is a world war 2 era game... and guess what, there were subs in world war 2. While he's not on a rant, he's on about subs around 3:36 -- again, they were real issues in world war 2 so they should be in a world war 2 era game. GG.
As a DD only player with sub 1000 games total I don’t really have an issue with submarines. They don’t bother me much, apart from the point that the one on my team always seems to suicide on cap 1min into the game. BUT, CVs are trash, sitting in the corner of the map, impossible to fight 1v1, fighting at no risk. Also, Hydro should not be able to spot surface ships. That’s what Radar is for. 3min 6km spotting is just stoopid.
I have to admit . We had good 6 years but the game now dead . 18k peak time yesterday players WW . I have played matches with same players over and over and over again . Best players in T9-10 have only 156 battles to 400 battles . It crazy the amount of A-holes in this game . Matches now ends after 5 minutes . People are at spawn the whole match they don’t care if they will win or lose . Sad ending though
I don't even play WoW, but I'll leave my humble like and comment to help you with algorithm since you put effort on the video.
awesome! Thank you! glad you enjoyed it just for entertainment

@RIPPERdd - You looking for an apprentice? I'd love to play and learn more about DDing
i just watch the videos and play that's how i learned, also by sharing ideas with others as always, thanks for watching!
Note, there's reaally good mod Aslain that has a hud with ship features including radar and hydro distances.
Really? Ok I’ll check it out
Hold tab while in a match, move mouse curser over enemy ship in the pop up list and it shows ship information now. I feel it's cheating but...
Nice video
Thank you!

my apologies, you can fast forward if you liek

Subs are at the bottom of the damage stats. All the whining about subs misses their low damage output.
try but DDs are the low damage and we get killed all the time from sub shotgunning
