All true! Jay Leno said it's more fun to drive a slow car at it's limits than to drive a supercar that has almost no limits. The same is true with photography and video. Getting great results with "consumer grade" gear is so much more fun!! A blurry photo with amazing composition is better than a sharp photo that lacks imagination!

- Something to say, a message, something interesting, relevant, explicit and implicit.
- Light, playful humor. Even in the most serious videos a hint of deep happiness and humor is there.
- Great image quality (exposure, white balance, lights, etc, always perfect or near perfect) and good sound.
Yep his lighting in particular is always spot on, Markus is the real deal.
Why I watch your channel is the same reason I don't engage with "What's the best camera I can get?" on Reddit. You're certainly no "photo bro", and that is most appreciated. You show the variety in all sorts of equipment, how useful they are, and how well they perform, most times in lieu of "top tier" equipment. I love your channel and all your videos. Markus, you are my man! I'm 70 and I'm totally with you! It is so hilarious to watch all these "influencers", especially when they say "Thank you DJI for sending me this gizmo, but, of course, my review is totally unbiased" :) Also, you forgot about mandatory parallel posts in TikTok, and hanging guitar on a back wall. Without guitar you cannot be an influencer!

This might be my favorite video of yours. I hate that everything you said is something that's gone through my head at one time or another, and honestly, social media (RUclips is social media) has done this to us. You need to look like a cinematographer (what does that even mean??) and you can only use expensive equipment that is under 6 months old (that was spot on). Your videos have done more good for me than any other videos on RUclips because you don't make me feel like I don't have enough to make something good. Thank you for that.

I've been in the traditional broadcast tv industry for 20+ years and the 'digital' version for the past 10 years....yes, I too am old and don't much give a toss about most of the latest n greatest....and don't get me started on LUTS....sheeesh. Excellent. I have a few years on you and I roll my eyes at these trends. 98% viewfinder shooting for me. Someone already mentioned the coffee making. Don’t know if anyone mentioned using a skinning knife to open a package. I’m just a hobbyist who can sometimes take good photos and even I see through these wannabes.
I have very often wondered if some of these channels go to someplace to order their “RUclips set”:
Horizontal paneling, preferably with a reclaimed barn wood “look”? Check.
Shelves, preferably supported by plumbing? Check.
Cameras, games, toys on shelves? Check.
Exposed light bulb fixture on shelves? Check.
Neon? Check.
Purple/pink RGB lights? Check.
Gaming chair? Check.

This is why i love you. If i start looking at a video and i notice that after five minutes this video is going on for forty minutes i quit. I just don't have that much time or patients. This man taught me everything i know about flash photography. Couldn't learn any of that from "relevant" photography channels, other than that you need a leica q3 to have "character" in your images.
I almost didn't click on this because of the title, but curiosity won so here I am. Ya missed my number 1 pet peeve though, FILMING! Everybody everywhere they're all "FILMING" this or that, but not a God forsaken one of them use any film! Everybody everywhere talking about that "FOOTAGE" they just shot on their 'digital' camera that couldn't accept FILM even if they knew where to buy the stuff!
All you all, listen:
It ain't FILM, it's just and only "video" or digital video to be specific!
It ain't FOOTAGE, because it ain't FILM! It is however time, because all "digital video" is measured in time, not feet!
Next time any of you talk about footage, you better damn well be talking about the square footage of a room! Don't call it a cat when it's a dog. Words matter! Ya feel me!!!

Not sure if you're aware, but the majority of feature FILMS these days are shot digital and are called "films" by pretty much everyone. Should "film festivals" be renamed "video festivals?" Look up the definition of "filming" in any dictionary of your choosing, or even in legal terms. You'll see the medium doesn't matter.

You must learn the English language before you can use it. You don't sound ready yet. Film is a noun, it's a thing, a very specific thing! FILMING is an adjective, describing the use of that specific thing! FILM has been dead for 2+ decades now. It's well past time you people get up to date!

"making a recording, on any medium, from which a moving image may be produced by any means.") Your argument is comparable to Markus mentioning "shooting." That VERB was coined hundreds of years ago relating to weapons, before cameras were even invented. Have you ever said you were "shooting a film/video?" If so, how dare you, use "capturing" instead.

Is it easy to correct inconsistencies? Yes. Is it easy to replace them with the new term? Hell no. Hence when it's still called "filming" and "footage" when it's not an actual film. It's not accurate, yes. But it's also a lot easier than substituting. Plus, and more importantly in my opinion, in the grand scheme of everything in the world, it doesn't matter. Language is constantly changing and evolving and whether we like it or not, there are much more important matters to complain about anyway.
