I interpreted it more like an automaton, satellite or a computer on Earth analyzing the situation and emotionlessly computing... And had a Sputnik 1 vibe for a bit, too... The only remains of civilization that would have been untouched.
definitely one of if not the most *powerful* one yet, it really makes you imagine the impact of such a large scale event on the world while watching the video amazing work as always!
How can you manage to make such a bop like at the 5:40 part be so unsettling like in the intro or at 6:40, all into the same song? You're so talented, you keep putting so much quality in your work for Kurtzgesagt even after all those years! I'll never get tired of your compositions ^^
We just like explosions, not 2 billion people dying Edit: there is also the 5 billion deaths scenario, which proves that nuclear bombs are neither good as weapons(because of deaths) or dezinfectants.
It's so weird that you seem to be the only one mentioning the resemblance, because this was the very first thought I had as well, right at the beginning of the Kurzgesagt video.
4:38 is the best part. Sounds like an apocolyptic ver. of the nuke a city soundtrack's ending (yk they're musical experts when their song logic & references make sense), the nuclear death beeping & with the aggressive touch of supervolcanos but more depressed. As the video stated, nuclear wars leads to nuclear winters that have the ability restart humanity or collapse civilization completely. Man, nukes are literally too powerful. We invented an onmipotent capable of committing omnicide. Utilizing them at all is a really is rash way of thinking and threatens the very continuity of mankind. Too bad the immense power of nukes is too much for some people to let go of... 😔🙏🏾
Prohibition is such a short-sighted strategy. Unless you plan on lightsails and cryosleep to traverse interplanetary/interstellar distances, a lack of nuclear technology may be as much a threat to the continuity of humanity. Side note: Cryonics might make for an interesting video topic.
@tops1954 And what is the distinction that legally separates technology from weaponry? I don't have a legal background but am curious how law separates the two. A kitchen knife can be used as a weapon. So is it not a weapon until used as one, or is it inherently a weapon? How much difference is there between a nuclear reactor and a bomb?
@@happymaster19 I think it comes down to the intent that something is designed, made and manufactured for. A nuclear reactor is designed and manufactured to produce power, whereas a nuclear warhead is designed and manufactured to produce an explosion. You can see the design differences in the Chernobyl disaster, where a reactor that was pushed to the brink didn't explode like a nuclear bomb, it instead simply just melted down (which did cause a steam explosion, but that was an external factor).
0:01 - Winter of Ash 2:08 - Agricultural Apocalypse 4:38 - Catalyst of Catastrophe 6:22 - Desolation What an aggressive track. Very similar in mood to Supervolcanoes. The end is reminiscent of Nuke a City but much less optimistic. The piano towards the end of the track in video is heartbreaking, but stripped from this version. 😢 Check out the video (8:29).
@@memati7199it feels weird for the Kurzgesagt soundtrack to not have a nuke leitmotif with all the videos they made about nukes. And also I really like finding leitmotiv
Well i think this one would directly give anyone an idea that there is a nuclear danger around the corner, ruclips.net/video/Xb4czQnm-yg/видео.htmlsi=gW64dVhM0abhhmys
At 5:58, the supervolcanoes/sediments motif starts until the end of the track but becomes more long-winded after 6:21. 4:38 has motifs from nuke a city & nuclear war but much more aggressive like supervolcanoes. Cant pinpoint the motif from 0:00-4:37 so could you help with that? Maybe its from nuke a city too.
Its a weird feeling knowing a bomb could fall every moment which is scary imagine how horryfighing it is imagine everyone you know every person you liked or known dieying because someone pushed a red button that is not the subscribe button and then is the start of the horror
The beat is so good for the very depressing end to humanity, ans the theme of the video, the music has such anxiety put into its beat and rhythm yet also has some upbeat parts to it
The song is a way of showing off ultimate power and also a battle between two powerful forces, which is clearly shown in the video by using two different colors and an opposing boundary. The power of nuclear weapons - the power of destruction, the eloquent sound emanates in the soundtrack. This seemed like the last great war.
Wherever the term Epic Mountain came from (though I have a few guesses), this piece right here certainly fits perfectly. Its energy is just right, so it works as background music, yet at the same time, it is truly wonderful to listen to on its own. It has a wonderful mixture of heterogeneity and homogeneity that makes ever part of the song feel different and dynamic without feeling out of place. The "instruments" if work perfectly, none are out of place, from the beat to, I think I might hear guitar in some places, it all works perfectly to really paint the picture of the scene. Then the mood of it hangs in a delicate three or four way ballance between somber, angry, generally intense, and in some places even edging on something almost chippper. Putting that all together thats an 11 for energy, a 10 for variety, a 10 for instruments, an 11 for mood, and a 12 for execution, plus 1 for fitting perfectly. Overall that comes to an 11, this is amazing! Note: I am obviously not un biased.
The beeping in the background is eerily powerful... like measuring the heart rate of human civilization before it dies.
It's like you're playing plague inc.
I interpreted it more like an automaton, satellite or a computer on Earth analyzing the situation and emotionlessly computing...

6:40 far more dreadful than any horror movies
Wow! Haven't seen the video already but it really sets up an ambience. And thoses synth near the end

Just the removal of thermonuclear weapons, not nuclear technology itself.

Intent is notoriously difficult to adjudicate.
Both bombs and reactors are designed to produce a thermal load.
