I hear what you're saying, my issue is I'm not necessarily a Statue collector per say so when I buy a statue I'm buying it with the intention of forever keeping it and then when it comes in person and it's not to my satisfaction and I'm hoping that maybe jnd will make a better one and then when I get the jnd I end up giving away the other one for free bcuz I don't want to deal with the hassle of trying to sell it etc !

I totally understand where you're coming from! It's tough when you have high expectations for a piece, and it doesn't meet them. Hopefully, JND will come through with something amazing for you soon!

Great video Chris. Thanks. For me, it's not a question of "Good Enough". The question is do I love it. If the answer is yes, I order it. If it's no, I pass on it. And if I have to talk myself into it, if I have to sell myself on the piece, not because of the price point or the shipping cost or the amount of display space it will occupy, but because of the actual piece itself, then I pass on it. I can't have any doubts about it or I need to move on. I know it takes a lot of patience and discipline, but it's the only way to go for me. And lastly, JND is the Ferrari of the statue collecting world.

I completely understand where you're coming from! Choosing what you truly love is so important, especially in collecting. It’s all about finding that passion and making sure you’re investing in pieces that resonate with you!

I'm the opposite; I'm extremely picky to the point that a single flaw can ruin an entire piece for me. However, at these prices, I think I'm being pretty fair lol

I definitely agree with a lot of what you have said if its close enough then its a majority of the time fine. I will say however if theres competition then it becomes which ones better.

just checked Keaton's pictures from 89, got a good picture that matches your video of him, he doesn't have such big cheekbones and not so big bags under his eyes, but it's good and I can understand you being happy that's the most important thing

It's interesting how our perceptions can change over time! Glad you found a picture that resonates with the message of the video.

A little off topic, you have the coolest finch drawings with the biggest villains, but there is one that I think you have forgotten, one that is also well up there (Black Mask)

For me personally and that is only me. I think and feel that the pricepoint matters. For example 2 years ago I bought the Weta Superman for a ridiculous low price. The likeness is not there for sure. But I do like the pose and the sculpt and the presence that he has on the shelf. I don't really see that one as an Henry Cavill, for me it's a black suited comic Superman statue. The ScarJo from Queen Studios was another controversial piece. I have the Snow Suit and she was around 1k shipped. Art is subjective, but for that one and for that pricepoint I really really like the statue and really feel that the likeness is there. I asked a few people in my family about the likeness and they all were in the low 90 percent. But then for the JND Harley that I have on order. That is a whole other story. For that pricepoint I want at least prototype quality. I adore the likeness that we saw. That is a statue where I won't settle on the likeness, just for the pricepoint that they are asking. So to sum up I feel that it matters more with the price you paid. Although we have to be honest, 1k is not cheap, in this hobby we react if 1k is not much, but for sure it's a lot of money 😊

You bring up some excellent points! The price definitely influences our expectations, and it's great to hear how you approach each piece with a unique perspective. Art truly is subjective, and it's all about what resonates with you!

When we talk about real life characters, in this case actors, likeness is not negotiable, if it's not 100% you missed it, close enough it's not enough. You as a company have to put all your efforts in likeness, if you missed details in costumes is tolerable but not in likeness. I know from my experience if something is off, it will make some noise in your brain every time you look at the statue, especially if this is a expensive item and you will end up selling it.

I own movie statues and their comic book versions. If you struggle with the movie actor likeness stick to the comic version as they seem to nail them. Movie statues are tough as they're portraying a real person. JND are in my opinion the better studio in most versions of a real person/character. Prime1 masterline is starting to make improvements too.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Movie statues can be a real challenge, but it's great to hear that you have found some that work for you. JND and Prime1 definitely have their strengths!

Couldn't agree more, it's all subjective and the Internet being the Internet it's usually negative comments that are shared about quickly. I do my movie pieces in 1/6 figures and often I use third party's to fill in gaps that companies like hot toys don't do and they still look brilliant together. 9 times out or 10 I find in hand things look so much better then on a screen

Absolutely! It's fascinating how subjective everything can be, especially when it comes to art and creativity. Your approach with the figures sounds really innovative!

@BatmanStatueCollector I will hopefully be in a place where im happy to share my collection with community soon, oh off topic but Arkham Ivy Prime 1 came today and she was so worth the wait and heartbreak (despite the hugely increased cost getting her here lol) She brings a real pop of colour to the display :)

what exactly are you buying superheroes or actors?. dont say both because you dont need keaton to have batman. batman is a comic book character not an actor. now we all have movies we love and want a bit of that moment we remember but i feel that these actors are portraying a beloved character but none that i have seen have really captured the image that ive seen in the comics. so for me the real batman is in the books , not in an actors portrayal. thats just me.

You bring up a valid point! The essence of a character can often feel different in comics compared to their film portrayals. It really varies from person to person, and I appreciate your perspective on it!

Personally I'm collecting for film accuracy. Im not collecting a Michael Keaton, Im collecting Bruce Wayne who was played by him.

    • @grimmster777

@@AustinCollects18 my point is. how many bruce waynes, for instance the alfred statue doesnt resemble any film alfred. yet he looks more like the comic book alfred which in my opinion is more accurate to me. this of course is my opinion which brings us to collect what YOU like which is the most important thing. to me i feel that in order to make a buck they took a beloved morally sound man who suffered a horrible tragedy in his life and turned it into a positive by defending those that cannot and still he will not kill nor torture unlike afflecks batman. the early comics we grew up on made us think as a child to weigh the differences between right and wrong in a character we idolized because he chose the higher path, which made us as a child want to be more like him. again my opinion. happy collecting
