how dare you make this ADORABLE crop top and look SOO good in it, while i'm working on a tie strap top because now I just want to abandon my project and work on this instead. How dare you.
here’s a written pattern that I’m using for myself in case anyone wants to use one! Row 1: Ch42, skip first 2 chains, hdc until the end, ch2 Row 2-11: alternate between both (go through the front loops only: add 2hdc in the first stich, hdc in each stich, add 2hdc in the last stich, ch2) (go through both loops: hdc in each stich, ch2) Row 12- 20: alternate between front loops only and both loops inc, hdc in each stich, inc, ch2 Row 21-24: alternate between front loops only and both loops add 2hdc in the first 2 stiches , hdc in each stich, add 2hdc in the last 2 stiches, ch2 -------- slpst up both sides of the shirt, attach a chain on each side
Hi guys, my sis was trying to follow this tutorial but got quite confused too. Let me just clarify it in a simpler version after watching the video. Every row from 2nd onwards, you alternate between front loop and both loops. For example: 2nd row - front loop 3rd row - both loops 4th row - front loop 5th row - both loops Alternate it until the end, for the entire shirt. As for the stitch pattern: Row 2-11: - When you do front loop row, hdc inc on 1st stitch, hdc all the way, hdc inc on last stitch (total 2 inc) - When you do both loops row, normal hdc all the way (no inc) Row 12-20: every row, hdc inc for 1st stitch, hdc all the way, hdc inc for last stitch (total 2 inc) Row 21-24: every row, hdc inc for 1st stitch, hdc inc for 2nd stitch, hdc all the way, hdc inc for 2nd last stitch, hdc inc for last stitch (total 4 inc) Hope this helps. Amazing design from Erin B! Thanks!
this is such a good tutorial! I always get confused with the half double stuff and you also explained that „chain two“ turn really well. Thank you so much
aaaaa i really wished you included a short video tutorial on the straps and lacing! but im halfway done with the top and i cant wait to see how it turns out!
I’m sorry I didn’t, I’m keeping that in mind for my next tutorials, I’ll remember to show how I finished straps for you! But for this top I attached the yarn at both corners of the bust and made a very long chain. From there I just weaves the chain at random spots on the back side of the top and crisscrossed them down. The yarn is only attached to the piece by the bust corners!
This is my first crotchet project and it’s going pretty well, however I don’t know how to finish the slip stitch once you get to the top. That’s literally the only roadblock. Sorry, I’m new here 😩

she doesnt fully explain each step, i couldn't finish my work. she says its a beginners tutorial but i really doubt a beginner would actually understand it. she doesn't even say how many chains we have to make at the end nor how to wrap them.
I have made this and frogged it like 6 times now. I specifically realized it's because she cuts away in a weird spot when she shows the end of row 3 and i keep getting the placement wrong because it's so non specific I AM SO FRUSTRATED
i would love this tutorial if there was an explanation for what the number of chains/rows means! i had to watch through the entire thing before beginning (i normally like to follow along) because i didn’t know what the initial chain 40 was supposed to cover and therefore didn’t know if it would fit my body properly. even now, i only mostly have a clue
Hi!! I thought I explained in the video that the initial chain is the top of the crop-top, sorry if I didn’t say! I just chained long enough to cover the top of my chest (you can use one of your own tank tops to get the same measurement!)
Heya for later videos you could add measurements of the top so that the people making it could adapt the measurements and the size so it fits them. Would help thank you!
My body looks pretty similar to yours, so I thought I didn't need to make any adjustments. My top came out wayyy too small and looks like it would only fit a child. Brb unravelling and starting over :,)
Oh no!! It might be a difference in yarn thickness! I’ve learned recently that a bunch of brands label yarns differently but they’re not all the same thickness. The yarn I used id consider an Aran weight! 💓💓
When you get to the part where you add increases on every single row do you only crochet into the top stitches or do you still alternate going into the top stitch one row, then into the full stitch the next row?
Hi, are you referring to the lacing? If so, I attached my yarn to the corners of the front, and made an excessively long chain. From there I just picked a few different points along the edge of the top and strung the chain in a criss cross fashion until I reached the bottom corners!
Hello hello ! Thank you so much for this have taken a look through and it seems clear and doable to me 🤩 just wanted to ask 2 things before I start - what kind of size does this make? And also how long did you make for the straps/string to tye for the back? Thanks in advance ! 🤩
i'm making this top rn i just made some few changes cuz i'm a bigger size but i love it already can you please show me how you did the sraps and the back cuz i'm a lil confused about it and thanks for the pattren btw
One side seems to be more diagonal than the other...is that how its supposed to be or am I doing it wrong. I feel like at the end of the rows where you go on in the front loop, I go into the wrong loop. Is it the same as the first time?
@@eysz4531 Okay so i figured it out. On the rows where you do the front loop hdc, your going to want to skip the first stitch and put the hdc in the second stitch. And then just do the regular hdc rows in the first stitch. Mine came out even that way.
Question, what is the reason for using the front loop of the stitch? Is it a design choice or is it necessary for the shirt? Could you actually go through both loops and get a similar effect?
Hi there!! I use the front loop in order to create a ribbed pattern. You can make the top by going through both loops like normal, but it will be a flat piece, it won’t have any ribbing texture to it! Hope this helped 💓
Love the pattern! I tried it out and my top came out super cute! I’m trying to make another top, and for some reason one side constantly looks more angled than the other. I don’t know if I’m missing a step or messing up somewhere but the first one came out great so idk why it keeps looking uneven now.
For every other increase row are you still going into a hard to see stitch? Or is it just right at the beginning it’s hard to see? And when you complete the 11 rows and move on to do more increases, are you doing 2 on each end for every row? Thanks in advance :)
hi!! I think it gets easier to see the stitches the more you work the pattern!! and yes, after the 11 rows I do 2 HDC increase on both ends for every row! thank you for watching 🤍🤍
Heyy, I want to ask you a question. When you write “repeat the pattern for 11 rows” it’s should be a total of 11 rows including the rows that you already crocheted or 11 more rows? Thank you! Can’t wait to make this top!😍
Do you maybe have the measurements in inches for each part? So for the first part where you have to double crochet in every other row, etc? I am working with a thinner yarn.
Hi!! To adjust the top make a chain the length of your chest (I held the chain up to my chest and found the correct width that I wanted the top to start at I think 10 inches?) then you add increases on the corners of every other row until the top is wide enough to fit around your body. I’m very short so my top isn’t very long but if you’re tall or have a long torso you will need to keep adding rows in the same fashion 🤍
Hi. Awesome tutorial and top. I have one question. For the increase rows, after the first two increased in the front stitch do you continue with HDCs in the front stitch only down the middle? Hope my question makes sense. Thank you
hi there!! I'm not quite sure what you mean by "down the middle" but I continued with the front stitch for the entire project (I believe its every other row) !
@@itserinb I meant in the row where you applied the increase in the front stitch for the first two stitches and last two stitches do you continue in the front stitch until the last two increases or do you make stitches in both loops not just the front? I make the top going into both loops in between the beginning and end increase and it came out wonderful . Thank You 🙏🏽
I swear I somehow am off in my stitch count no matter how careful I am I frogged like 6 times at the start 😅 so when I stitch into the V stitch (not the front stitch) I have to stitch into the chain on the other side to complete the row with the right amount of stitches it’s driving me crazy
Hi there!! Yes it can still be made without the front loops, you can just go through both of the top two loops (it just won’t have a ribbed effect to it!)
It’s kind of like a XS-S, but because the back is lace up it can be for bigger sizes! If she had a larger chest then you might need to add more rows to the bottom than I did!

Question I am definitely a bigger size was the 40 chains in the beginning for the chest or the bottom of the shirt cuz this looks shmol
Heya, looks sooo good! but wondering how you did the lacing?
Personally I braided three pieces of yarn together, used a 9mm hook to slip stitch it into the top, then laced it down.
I just used two loose strands of yarn and weaves them back and fourth down the backside of the top!
Hi, I'm a bit confused, what does adding increases mean (for row 2-11)?
do you tie the yarn at the top of one side of slip stitches and then go to the other side or do you continue across the top and go back down??

Yes I chained!
I'm making this as a gift for a friend and she about your size...i was just wondering if you remember how long each string was for the back ties.

Hi I am also wondering about the straps. I am finished with body of the project but I don’t quite understand the explanation of the straps here.
Still a little confused how to add the string to lace up the back. Could you explain more or post another video?
Do you maybe have the measurements in inches for each part? So for the first part where you have to double crochet in every other row, etc? I am working with a thinner yarn.
this is a great top! however, how can i adjust the size?

Heck yea!! Would be rather simple too! I'll try to get to it in a month or two, lots of projects lined up ☺️
Hi I’m just starting to make it but I was wondering how do you tie it in the end do you just put them in random holes or something?
Hi!! Yes I pretty much just found random holes along the edge of the top and string through my chain!!
Guys, what are the measures of these projects?
hey:) i'm currently making the top and i was wondering if i could make more rows (before making increases on every row) because i have a bigger breast than you i think ? or its not going to change anything?
Yes that would definitely work! You could make your beginning chain a little longer as well to make sure they stay inside 😇
Or even just add more rows with increases as well!
what size yarn??
Which size is this pattern?
No specific size because the lace up back allows for multiple sizes, but the width of my top stretches 25 inches at the bottom!
It's really small. Measure where you want it to sit on your body to decide how many stitches to chain. Don't follow this for sizing.
@@mafaldacortesao9515 of course, these directions are specific for my body size. I’m showing how I’ve made it for myself!
