True words of wisdom and inspiration, mate... I was only 9 when I played the very first Resident Evil game in 1996 and played through EVERY single one until 7 in 2017. Now I'm 34 and still enjoy listening to these memorable RE soundtracks to take me back to those years during the Golden Era of Gaming.

This theme perfectly describes RE1. It speaks of mystery, and a big part of RE1 is trying to find and solve the mystery of the dangerous Spencer Mansion.
Hands down the greatest survival horror I’ve ever played. The newer remakes are flashier and visually spectacular but failed in creating a truly unsettling atmosphere in my eyes; at least not nearly to the same extent that REmake did. My god, I didn’t feel comfortable for one second playing this game, not even in the safe rooms, largely because of soundtracks like this thickening the creepy atmosphere even more.
That´s why only Resident Evil 2 remake is good and has the same intense atmosphere and feeling of dread - because it uses the same eerie music of the original. Only a few games use good music anymore but almost always just some stupid dynamic dark industrial tunes (only playing during a few selected enemy encounters) while the rest of the game has no soundtrack at all. Resident Evil 2, Alien Isolation, and Elden Ring are great examples of immersive use of creepy soundtrack. Resident Evil 7 and Village just had boring creaking floorboards almost all the time and nothing else. No real feeling of dread and fear because of the missing soundtrack in these two titles no matter how good the visuals were ;)

I don't know why, but when I was in college, id hear this in my head whenever I went to the recreational centers basement level. Not sure how. But that was where most of the sporting activity rooms were. The basketball gym, the swimming pool, the bowling alley, raquet ball court, weight room and this dance room that had these nice restaurant style booths with tables. They even served food there as well. The billiard room was on the upper floor and a room where you could play video games. There was also a small restaurant style snack bar at the back end of the main corridor and they had all kinds of stuff in there. After a while, I started hearing this music almost every time I went to the recreational center. Day or Night.
This version truly expands on the original effectively. It takes everything that made the original interesting and amplifies it. The mysterious, ominous and original melody is truly well-composed. One of the best, imo.

How could this happen? I'll never forgive myself for being part of this project. Eventually I'll get what's coming to me, though. There's no way to escape from this nut house, it's just a matter of time now. Everything is set. All I need is a little courage to get it done. Knowing that I'll leave many things undone is regret beyond words. But, this is better than just waiting to turn into one of them. Please understand and at least let me end my life as a person. PLANT 42 REPORT Four days have passed since the accident. The plant at Point 42 is growing at an amazing rate. Although there are many unknown aspects about this plant, we know that in comparison with the other group of plants, the T-Virus has had a substantially stronger affect on this one. The T-Virus has drastically morphed its host's anatomy as well as its size. Looking at its current state, it's difficult to imagine its original appearance. Nowhere on Earth will you find anything like it. We've also found that PLANT 42 has two main sources of acquiring its necessary nutrients. One source is through its root. Somehow it has rooted itself down into the basement. Immediately after the accident, a scientist went mad and destroyed the Aqua Ring. Ever since, the basement has been like a pool. There is a high possibility that it's one of the chemicals in the water that's promoting the PLANT 42's rapid growth. However, we have yet to determine the specific chemical. A bulb-like body of the PLANT 42 has been sighted hanging from the ceiling of the first floor. We are sure that it used the air ducts to reach the first floor. Numerous long tentacle-like vines are protruding from the bulb. We believe the vines are the second means of acquiring its nutrients. When the PLANT 42 senses prey, it uses the tentacle-like vines to capture its prey. After doing so, suckers on the vine drain the prey of its blood. We've also noticed that it has some intelligence. When it captures its prey or when it's inactive, the vines twine around the door to stop possible intruders. Unfortunately, several of our scientists have already fallen victim to this PLANT 42. When we heard the stories from the survivors, they all observed one thing in common: When the uniform petal-like flaps open and reveal its vital internals, it has a tendency to become more aggressive. The song is terrifying, but in a weird way it is also very pleasant. It's not ghastly, just ominous. Also.. I honestly think this is merely a very off-tune version of the Save room. If you listen to the note progression, it has the same low to high note progression that the save room song does.
Never noticed that before! Strange thing is this theme is often in rooms where there's no imminent danger or threat, but also not safe. I feel like this music teases terror while creating the ambience of comfort and safety. That's what makes it such a great piece.
No you are not alone, RE2make is a fine game i appreciate what it did well but overall it just feels a little bit empty and soulless in comparison to RE1make which to me feels so alive with mystery and horror, the mansion itself is as much an enemy in the game as any zombie or dog is, the intrigue and atmosphere feels like a real living thing in RE1make the entire thing feels alive and real and even though its a remake it does an amazing job of making me feel as though im playing the original only better, RE2make doesnt evoke those same feelings to me and i predict neither will RE3make (which i am looking forward to and have pre ordered) to sum it up RE1make actually replaces the original it occupies the space once occupied by the original and it fills that space even better where RE2make doesnt replace RE2 its more like an alt version of it a kind of earth 2 version of Resident Evil 2

I still enjoy and cherish the original RE1 but I wouldn't really play it much anymore if given the chance (although now, come to think of it, I'd love to play it again if I had a PS1). Whereas RE2 and RE2 Remake will always stand separately and I can play either one.
@@visionist7 Resident Evil has really been made obsolete by RE1make it manages to evoke feelings of nostalgia for those who played the original at the same time as being simply the best starting point for anybody new who wants to try out the series, RE2make doesnt evoke the same level of nostalgia for old players nor is it neccesarily the best way to even experience RE2 as a good argument could still be made for playing the original RE2 over it however what RE2make has done is its given us a new way to experience a classic gaming masterpiece so rather than complain and moan about it not being the same as the old one i choose to celebrate the fact that we now have 2 different but equally brilliant ways to experience RE2 as a fan of Resident Evil that makes me very happy

I really REALLY hope Capcom decides to finally bring the classic, the ultimate masterpiece that invented the horror genre: Resident Evil 1 as a new reimagination. Imagine the old mansion shining in new graphics quality, a comeback of the old laboratory in the basemant... EPIC!!
For me it doesn't need any of that, the graphics are still beautiful, at most it needs a decent remaster, to enhance the graphics even more, without any other changes.

This place frightened me as a kid, though revisiting it in the REMake years later as an adult had me teaching that pesky plant who’s boss for a change. 😜
