- I decided to make another 1 hour loop, this time it's from Silent Hill 2 tho. I always liked this track and I still do! But anyways, I usually put this on loop when reading something or doing some studying or simply just sleeping. So yeah, I hope you guys like it as well :3

not one single game has ever beaten Silent Hill 2's melancholy feeling.
one exist:silent hill one
Krzysztof Staniszewski well.. to me, silent hill one was more terrifying than melancholic. i mean, i guess you could feel some melancholy depends on what kind of a gamer you are.
Matt DAMN THE PATRIOTS!
Matt
I think it was a lot more terrifying but also melancholic, the sheer horrific scenario of Alessa's pain and torment, the score too....wow. Silent Hill 2 is also, like the first, sheer perfection. In my humble opinion, of course.
Its Silent Hill 1, 2, 3 all the way. I will throw Silent Hill 4 in that list since it was the last to be developed by team silent. After that, Silent Hill just wasn't Silent Hill anymore. I miss Team Silent.
Taking a walk in the rain at night, with this playing in my ears is an amazing sensation
Try a rainy sunset.
Being alone on the highway, in the forest, in the mist while playing this on the radio from my USB was the best moment of last year.
Man do I wish I could go to Silent Hill for real.

This town is full of *pizza* , how could you just sit there and eat *monsters* ?!
PlayStation 2 was the most nostalgic era. It captured the rawness of reality. It had tons of good games, the best games, cheap games. The industry veterans who worked on ps1, Nintendo and ps2 are all but gone. Games were made to be games. Look at the background of the image in the video, really trippy and immersive. They used much better imagery back then to immerse the level within.
Fax, the soul seems to be gone with modern games sadly.
gibberish "it captured the rawness of reality" "games were made to be games"
@@18skeltorGames WERE made to be games.
Gaming’s the biggest it’s ever been and it’s only going to go up from here. During the PS2 era gaming was still equivalent to like art-housy genres of film. Now it’s all about mass appeal, inclusivity and marketability. This is the core issue, it’s a soul sucking industry, just like every other business.
@@MitsurugiR I disagree. PS2 consoles sold 160 million, ps5 sold 60 million. Thats a big drop in 20 years. Gaming is not bigger, the counter balance of game prices and advertising have given the illusion of a bigger market. Games used to cost £15 - £20. Now £60 - £80. The 2000`s were the peak of tech, before social media and smart phones. Nostalgia keeps people trapped in the past, and if you dont move with time you`ll get lost in it. I stopped gaming in 2007 after MW4. Only very rarly do i play if there is something. But getting older you loose interest. The new generations see gaming today as ground breaking, but its not. Everyone wants things to be the way they were, but everything comes to an end.
The bass has just 3 notes, but hits very deep. This song is so relaxing in a world full of suffering

Could you imagine if all the guys responsible for SH2 reunited and made a proper Silent Hill 5?
The buildup of that being announced would be a legendary moment in gaming history
Silent hill 5 was in development and was the scariest game they would ever made, but got cancelled.. you could read info about that
@@Azarel410 most if not all SH fans know that already, we're talking about a "proper" Silent Hill 5 that releases without being cancelled almost immediately
They did. Wanna know how I know?
...it's behind you
Who said it would be good?
Love that bassline. It reminds me of Twin Peaks.
Akira's main inspiration for the soundtrack was Twin Peaks
It's like Angelo Badalamenti meets Portishead.

Words can't express how much this game means to me

@@axelandrade5094 I'm not the other person, but it was an unforgettable experience.
My first Silent Hill was actually 4. I was a senior in highschool at the time, and I had rent the Xbox version of 4 from a local rental place. I enjoyed it, thought it was pretty good, decently spooky, certainly sad, and the music was phenomenal. I still listen to Room of Angel from time to time.
So, the following week at school, I was talking about SH4 with a friend of mine, who absolutely adored the whole SH series, and he said I absolutely had to play 2, since he said it was the best in the series, and possibly one of the best games ever made (especially back then).
He said he wanted me to play it so much, that he would bring his copy to school on Friday, and I could try to finish it over the weekend. So he brings it that day, and I take it home, and I wait until it's dark out, and I turn off all the lights, and I pop the game in my PS2.
And kinda like the other commenter said, words can't really do it justice. Right away, from the title screen to the opening moments, the atmosphere is _intense_ . I literally couldn't stop playing it. I had never, in my life up to that point, played a game that kept me 100% interested in finding out what happened next and "solving the mystery" of it all.
It was a wild ride, through and through, and when I finally made it to the end, I had chills so intense it felt like my entire body was vibrating. No other game, before or since, has made me feel quite that way. I think I felt every emotion at once, haha.
But yeah, to sum it up, if you can "get into" Silent Hill 2, it will never let you go. Ceaseless intensity.
I never get sick of this song/loop. I've listened to it so many times. It really helps you to think about life. Not only is this one of the best songs ever, it's from one of the best games ever! Silent Hill 2
well said... sh osts always makes me think about life

Here on my break. Have a goodnight to all those stuck in silent hill. .
I love how they used downtempo for the soundtrack and you don't hear much of that genre nowadays. It always reminds me of the late 90's to early 2000's. It also encapsulates the deserted, melancholy atmosphere. If you want to find anything similar look for artists like Portishead, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Boards of Canada, Amon Tobin and so on.
Thanks, bro! This comment is the right thing I was looking too, indeed
And also I’m not good at classifying music, so if anyone could determine as close as it possible SH music genre, it’ll be really useful

The whole track has extreme similarities to Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground. The Drums and also that melody
Older games much more atmospheric
100% true. Older games didn´t take you by the hand, they let you explore the world on your own.
And, oh gods, the soundtracks back then......

Just the whole piece. Everything is on point. It's so Noir. Conveys an eery feeling of isolation so well.
Exactly! So is mine!
Doesn't sound like something you'd hear in a survival horror game. Dope.
I'll always love the 90's trip hop "Sneaker Pimps" vibe of this song, along with how distant and melancholy it feels at the same time. Thanks for the lovely seamless loop!
Massive Attack ?
The BEST Silent Hill by FAAAAR. The soundtrack, the feeling of dread, despair, darkness, the twist at the end. Nothing stacks up even now.
It is weird how much you can be attached to the settings of a horror video game such as this one. This music makes it even harder to let go of the game. How many games can top this in recent times? How many games can hold you within their world as you cling to its streets, rooms, otherworldly environment, and the decay of the town and wish you could experience it a bit more longer. I think this game and half life 2 had perfect worlds within them.
Amen to that
not a half life fan but I completely agree
Exactly dude. The whole game was just amazing.
A silent hill game without the feeling of melancholy is not a silent hill game..eheemm ehemmm..recent american versions...
Spot on. So much more attention on the overall "dreamy" atmosphere in the first 3 games. Sh2 has that absolute dark and beautiful melancholic feel throughout the entire story unlike any other in the series. I still have the game to hand just so that when I'm in the mood I can just pop it in the ps and go back to the real silent hill haha

I'm constantly amazed how much effort and attention to detail went into games back then. The fact that we're all still here 20+ years later listening to and making loops of songs from the game is a testament to the dedication and skill of the developers. That being said I genuinely hope for DPRK to conduct a strike against Konami HQ
It's been ages since this game came out. It hasn't gotten old one bit. Still amazing as it used to be.

This is what it feels like leaving silent hill. That introverted presence you bring with yourself surviving a very personal hell that others just wont and dont comprehend. Your own walk of life, your own journey, your own hell. We do not know why, but for each person their reasons varying, will be drawn to silent hill one way or another.
Each with their own story, trials, and puzzles to solve to ultimately pass, and move on to the next chapter in life.

This is excellent music to study to!
The reason why I love Silent Hill 2 so much is because it focuses on dark, but real subjects, no demonic rituals and crazed serial killers, bible thumping cultists and ....gyromancy.... It's about people with real problems (death of loved one, abuse, murder, etc.), coming to terms with their crimes and overcoming their inner demons. Also (not on topic), I hate it when people compare Pyramid Head with Nemesis from Resident Evil. PH isn't meant to be an invincible monster or demonic bodybuilder trying to murder you, he is supposed to be the punisher of JAMES SUNDERLAND and in someway to represent James' guilt, crimes and lust. He is James' guide to redemption, not a fucking brainless zombie. If you actually look at it from another perspective, PH doesn't focus solely on killing James, he just swings his knife aimlessly around and pretend to be a threat. If he really was there to just kill James, then why didn't he just pull him out of the closet and chop him into pieces. He can easily kill James, but his main purpose is to punish James for his crimes and guide him to redemption, that's why after the final boss fight with PH, they kill themselves, because James finally realizes their purpose and took responsibilty for his sin. Any encounter with Pyramid Head in any silent hill thing outside of Silent Hill 2 is just fanservice and makes no sense. Plus I just hate it that he became the mascot for Silent Hill, he isn't there to murder and rape anything that walks, he WAS there solely to punish James for the sins he has committed. End of story. (Last of all, Revelations is a piece of fucking trash, really, they make PH seem like some fucking demonic gladiator with no actual reason to be there, just to kill and rape, as if that wasn't enough they had to put a BOSS FIGHT between PH and VALTIEL. wtf).
Nemesis and PH are apples and oranges. The former is supposed to be relentless, and the latter is supposed be unshakable, if you catch my drift.
Lol that sounds awful. I knew that movie was a bust!!
Stefan cel Mare nicely said
What? Silent Hill 2 is a game about people being trapped in the town by the mystic power that left the actions of the cult mixed with the ancient power.. And yeah the game is focused in the feelings, sins and wishes from James but the cult and the power still there.. Even in one ending James goes in a boat to perform a ritual
Silent Hill 2 is the only SH game I played. When I finished it, I was pumped for the other games. But then I learnt that the rest of them were markedly different from SH2. Instant interest killer that was.
As it was said a number of times Silent Hill 2 is quite related to depression. Yet tracks like "Heaven's Night' , "Theme of Laura" and this one feels like when depression fade out for a short time as a moment of relief.
In a world where two men stand side by side,
Connected by a bond, no need to hide.
Eight inches of friendship, not what you think,
It's the measure of trust, stronger than a link.
They navigate life, facing highs and lows,
Through laughter and tears, their friendship grows.
Eight inches may measure more than length,
It's the depth of their bond, a source of strength.
Through thick and thin, they stride together,
Facing storms and fair weather.
Eight inches, not a physical measure,
But a symbol of friendship, a lasting treasure
Does anyone else get a weird vibe while listening to this and staring at the picture?

A couple of years ago, the company I was working for undertook a couple of hardware installation jobs for low-income apartment buildings. Both areas had their own solemn airs to them, the smell of cat piss and dark hallways between units.
This song reminds me a lot of those long January days in those dark apartments, you'd walk into some units and the tenants would be stalking around inside in their own darkness and sometimes hoarded environments.
In retrospect, it sort of feels like an alternate reality, but I am glad I got to do those jobs, I met some really awesome people!

How.
Jacob's Ladder is this great film that tells the story of Jacob Singer (Tim Robbins) dealing with a nightmare of a life instigated by his time in Vietnam War. His journey throughout the film reminded me so much James Sunderland's journey.
Later I come to learn that Silent Hill 2 was heavily inspired by this film.
J.S is the initials of both main characters.
Both wear the same army-type jacket.
Both deal with nightmare fuel encounters.
Both have an exotic female antagonist on some spooky shit.
Both deal with questionable characters in a world that doesn't respond to their own fears.
Both travel down a spiral of madness to come to terms with past grief.
Both are ************ ******** ******* at the end of their journeys.
I say if you like Silent Hill 2. Watch Jacob's Ladder (original version with Tim Robbins)
It's actually one of my favourite horror movies. Also the subway from SH3 is almost exactly the same as in the film.
@@OshiDood a person of culture! I didn't think I'd reach anyone that fast on here regarding the movie.
if theres a silent hill 2 movie they should give james a bit of a background say he was a gulf war veteran to somehow give homage to jacobs ladder aswell as an easter egg
