  • I've recently decided to swap a bunch of stuff in my PC build to deal with a number of issues I've been having. My cooler was running loud, my CPU too hot, my audio kept being weird and my PC kept blue screening too. So these are the drastic measures I took to sort it.

    Great news! Definitely sounds like a motherboard issue. I completed my build 2 months ago or so and used your channel for some ideas. I went with a MSI motherboard as they have never failed me in any of my previous builds. I think it was your channel that introduced me to the Lian Li brand and in particular the Dynamic Evo XL. Thankfully I haven't had any issues thus far except for one set of connected Lian Li UNI TL LCD fans randomly stop spinning. They work for the most part but occasionally one or more in that connected set would stop spinning. The screen would remain functioning but the fan would stop. Checking the software, that group would not be showing up. A restart of the system would resolve it. I haven't really taken the time to troubleshoot it but hopefully in the near future.

      Hey man, just curious do you know what group your LCD fans are plugged into on the controller? Reason im asking is that Lian Li has said (allegedly) that you should AVOID the Group #1 slot for connecting your LCD fans. I was having an issue where only two showed up in L Connect 3, with 1 LCD screen not functioning properly, and I swapped it to group 4 and now they work perfectly, just figured id throw this your way!

    I got the MSI Tomahawk MB in January, I run a AMD 7600 and a 7600 XT graphics system , I liked the MSI Board as soon as I saw it, the Bios is is straight forward and pretty obvious, I nearly bought the Carbon but really couldn't justify it, the problem of the Intel CPU running hot put me off straight away as I wanted to use a Phantom Spirit air cooler, its works extremely well and cost a ridiculously low price compared to an AIO. Intermittent faults are terrible to find, I know I did for a living for 45 years, when you change every thing but the paint and it still does it you know your in trouble, glad you sorted it.

    I just built a 14900KS-based system so I'm familiar with some of the troubles. I went immediately from the get-go, with a TG contact frame, KPX paste, and I'm using the Asus Ryujin AIO, Asus Maximus Formula, and Kingston Fury 6000MT/S ram. Also went with the LianLi fans (your guide was excellent by the way) I had gotten my CPU stable in Cinebench and 3D Mark Port Royal at 6.1GhZ all core with a -.0350 V offset undervolt, but would crash or bluescreen in all games the instant the workloads were applied. Leads me to believe that the real test of stability is games such as BF2042, COD, and StarCitizen, not the actual benchmarks that are supposed to be stress testing. I ended up with stable 5.9 all-core with a very mild undervolt of -0.0025 and all Intel standards enforced, but slightly modified. (420A max is Intel Standard. Asus default setting is over 4000A and I ended at 430Amp, 350Watt Short and long duration) Temps always below 70 and I have very low fan curves. I'm happy so far.

I agree that Lian Li Galahad II LCD does make a annoying whirring sound which i also own. It's because you need to custom a fan curve otherwise due to the CPU constantly going up and down the Pump was default scaling from 30c to 50c all the time. Hence the up down whirring sound which was very noticeable at idle on the desktop.

    Similar situation as me. My build is 7800x3d with strix B650e-e and this is also my first custom water cooling. This is probably the worst case as I constanty draining my loop and I accidently burnt my 4090 even when I had not figured out what is reason I kept getting blue screen. Not only that, my expensive optical hdmi cable and led control hub burnt (8k polling dongle of mice was getting werid). I fixed it all now by claiming new parts with warranty except my 4090. PSU, ram, cpu, ssd and MB(twice). From my perspective, the main reason could be the motherboard production issue. The led control and voltage is weird and psu will provide more power if there are more led devices connect to the MB. I did get electrical shock from the case. The time I get the second MB throught warranty, the bios stays as 2413. It may solve the issue but I recommend turn off led until it is stable. (try using argb split cable and touch the pin from the other side, you might feel painful electrical shock if you do not put your case on the ground)

      Question, have you tried a lower rpm? lian li defaulted to above the normal rpm for acetek 8th gen pumps something like 3600 vs 2600 max, probably as a precaution for i9's. See below text off their Reddit, but I'd try that first and then do an RMA as they had a faulty early batch they can identify by serial no :
      Our latest Galahad II LCD uses Asetek's 8th Gen pump, which has its maximum speed locked at 2600RPM. However, to meet the ever increasing need of heat dissipation for CPUs, we decided to unlock the pump's maximum speed to 3600RPM.

      We suggest you to use L-Connect 3 set the fix real-time pump speed or set PWM curve profiles to find the right balance between noise and performance. 60% of 3600RPM is around 2200RPM, which puts you at a good spot for noise and performance too.

    • @95Karlsson
      @95Karlsson 2 месяца назад +1

      @@DeadManInBlack I have yes. That’s why I mentioned the 2200rpm setting in my comment. I’ve set it down to 2000 and the pump runs at that speed at all times. No noticeable sound at that point and it keeps my i7-13700k at a steady temp during load.

    Love your videos. My build (parts on their way) starts next week and has been influenced by a lot of your work (I'll be building in an o11d evo xl). I ordered a Liquid Suprim 4090 and the Galahad 360 infinity cooler (probably would have been the Kraken if I had seen your video a couple days ago). I was thinking about having the 4090 radiator installed in the rear as exhaust, the Galahad radiator at the top as exhaust and then having 3 140mm infinitys reversed for the side intake and 3 140mm infinitys reversed as a bottom intake. I would be swapping out the fans on the liquid suprim 4090 for infinity fans as well. Does this sound like a good way to go? Any suggestions that I might want to think about?
    One possibility for your setup: If your reversed infinity fans from the bottom are still a bit louder you may be able to run them slightly slower to offset that, without impacting temperatures. In one video I watched, it was reported that, given sufficient inflow from the side, the bottom intake fans were not significantly impacting temperatures (it could be that your setup is different though).

    13900k and 14900k has problems running UE games. There is a mass return of the said chips in South Korea due to frequent BSOD, instability and crashing issues. It's an issue where in Intel is currently looking into it. Some reviewers said that probably its due to the high voltages causing more heat and degradation. Some recommended to under volt or lower the clock speed by about 200mhz

Had to select "box cooler" setting in order to get them back in line. I also tried lowering the lite load mode because it was set to mode 10 by default. This video literally voiced my biggest fear. Stability issues!
    I am due for a PC upgrade because my old machine can't keep up with these Unreal 5 games. So I've been shopping around for what I want to do for upgrades and MAN! So many freaking brands, choices, cases. Need to keep in mind airflow, cooling, compatibility of components with the case, with the motherboard, UGH!
    My current PC is the most stable PC I've ever built. In the 8 years that I've owned my PC, I've only crashed a total of 5 times. That's pretty freaking amazing!
    So now that I need to upgrade I am utterly petrified of buying the wrong components and then having to deal with returns and refunds and extensive amounts of troubleshooting. Luckily your videos do help assuage some of those fears but I have to admit to still being gunshy at pulling the trigger. Right now my goal is to upgrade the whole shebang, but I'm doing case/mobo/RAM/ and CPU. My current machine does AIO liquid cooling for GPU and CPU, so I'm hoping to keep that setup into the future build. But I have to admit I would be very upset if I build it wrong and create an unstable PC.
    Love to see the troubleshooting steps and the behind the scenes action, thank you.

      I’m building a pc but buy but at the moment, last computer I built was in 2007/8.
      I used an online ‘custom pc building’ company to configure my computer to make sure all the parts worked together. Once I found the combination that wanted that will work, I then checked reviews on RUclips to make sure that those parts where decent, then started to buy parts.

    I can confirm that some times i have the same issue with the headphones with that same motherboard. so it is a motherboard issue. but it only happens sporadically and you can fix by simply moving the headphones to a different usb port.
    Additionally, you can actually undervolt with XTU with that same motherboard. XTU will give the impression that it will not allow the xtu to be automatically loaded , but in truth it is.
    That said the low and mid grade MSI motherboard are actually hotter than low and mid grade asus assuming you use similar bios settings. Asus may run hotter if you do not change disable the automated stuff that asus does , but once you do, asus actually runs cooler.
    As such if you are noticing a difference of temperature it is because you have more fans and that AIO is actually superior when it comes to handling the i9- have one myself that also replaced the galahad i could notice the difference from day 1.

      I don't believe it was the cooling. I also can't say for certain what the issue was sadly. Could be as simple as bios settings I needed to change to deal with the i9 instability issues

    Havent you seen intel last 2 gen cpus have alot issues with pcie lanes. Its because cpus run hot and degrades fast causing it to fail and blue screen. I would avoid intel

    Please help I recently purchased the Lian li strimer plus v2 24 pin as I already had the strimer for my gpu! I had the strimer for my gpu hooked directly to my motherboard with the rgb wire it comes with so my mystic light was controlling the gpu strimer I wanted to be able to controller both strimers with L connect well I have everything hooked up now both strimers are flashing random colors I can’t control any of them no matter what I do I also have the uni fan hub controlling my fans along with a lian li AIO cooler with the lcd screen I’m not sure if this is to much if there’s a connectivity problem if I’m doing something wrong I’ve tried everything nothings working besides the way I had it before with just the gpu strimer connected to the motherboard

      So you're now using the controller and you have that connected to sata power and to a usb header on your motherboard. Can you not see them in L Connect or do a firmware update lian-li.com/l-connect3/l3_update_manually/

    So NVIDIA have just come out blaming Intel for game crashes that they were being blamed for, NVIDIA say the most effected cpus are the 13900k/14900k, as they are pushed to the limit pretty much out the box but any of the higher clocked cpus in the last generations could be affected. After 6 months maybe a year they start to degrade and get unstable at higher clock speeds, their solution is to slighty under clock I'm afraid. Hardware Unboxed covered this in their last QA video, the large range that the cpus can run so called in spec, especially when board manufacturers try to auto overclock using muticore enhancement etc.

      The auto overclocking is certainly problematic

    I can guarantee it was your ram sticks that had caused the blue screen.

      No. I tried different ram and tested both lots.

  • @c4nchi
    @c4nchi 3 месяца назад

    You shouldn't be populating all your four RAM slots if you want better perfomance, it is better to have only 2 sticks (much less if they are 2 different kits ) and 4 only if you want a lot of ram like 128 or 192 gb and dont care about performance.
